What happened to the incest scene?

An regular user (on and off 2016-2022) whom just returned from 6 months break from general playthrough of porn games, but most favorite is the incest theme, however it seems like scrolling through the recent months of absence yields poor results for new or exciting projects with that theme in mind... Has incest hit it's peak or we just grew out of it? I remember the excitement back in 2016 with Summertime Saga, which actually I found through SVS, but it brought and introduced me here, to this site, which I keep fond memories of.

So many heroic goals that vanished before their time, so many countless attempts to revive old projects or remake them only to flip them back into the graveyard they came from... Damn, I feel like shedding a tear while replaying old completed or abandoned projects that won't receive another shot. The only 2 "newer" projects that I keep my eyes on are Five of a Kind and Milf's Plaza, but even those are probably destined to meet their course.

The Incest genre is slowing down a bit, which is nothing unusual. As with all genres, there are peaks and lows in the emergence.
There will surely be more of these again.

But as a incest lover myself, having less of certain kind of wannabe-incest games isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Because most incest games are that in name only, since most characters don't really act according to their family relationship, nor do any of the other characters care if someone breakes that taboo.
Furthermore, incest is one of those tags that gets added just to have more tags, because it has almost reached vanilla status (similar to lesbian sex or anal) and many don't mind it enough to get repelled by it.

I also played all the "big" incest games back in the day but I really can't get teary-eyed and nostalgic about it because if we're honest about it they were all fucking terrible in hindsight.

I don't really keep up with the "incest scene" because it's not really one of my main fetishes, it's more of a "I can take it or leave it" thing, but I would assume if there has been a slowdown it's mostly due to Patreon cracking down on it. Like, yeah, you can still do it, but you have to put out incest patches and it's more work.

Not saying that it's the only reason, but I think that patreon being so anti incest makes some devs demotivated to try the genre. And patreon unfortunately remains one of the biggest crowdfunding platform for the +18 scenario.

Badik happened, porn games largely copy whatever is popular at the time, and since the biggest game is now a non-incest one we get dozens of college games instead of mom/2 sisters games.

What is this the "biggest game" you're speaking of?
'BaDik' aka Being a Dik.

Incest is still a pretty popular category, but it's not the massive category it once was. The fact that the vast majority did similar, oftentimes identical things caused natural fatigue for the genre as a whole. Furthermore, the largest incest game, Milfy City got abandoned, causing the genre to get a bit of a stink from that moment onwards.

It also wasn't JUST Being a Dik which caused the change. Other massive games quickly overtook incest games even before Being a Dik was released. The Deluca Family took the website by storm, and sorta proved that a game didn't need incest to become a massively successful game. There was also WVM. While WVM has lost a significant amount of popularity, it was huge at its peak. Despite being a game primed to have at least one incest character, the developer stuck to their decision and that character has never been lewdable. Further emphasizing that incest was no longer needed.

Then there was also the Patreon drama which has most certainly impacted this shift. Basically, Patreon began to ban anything that they deemed 'immoral' and it impacted incest games the hardest. This caused incest to become more of a questionable category for a game to be in.

Lastly, there's Steam. I imagine that most developers who want to make a living ultimately want their games on Steam at some point. Not only is it a source of income, but a way to connect to a far larger audience. Steam blocks games with questionable content, aka incest, likely making quite a number of developers to question rather or not the genre is worth it to begin with.

I believe that these are the major reasons behind the downfall of the incest genre. I will also repeat that incest is NOT dead, not by any means. Games like Ripples, Homelander and Grandmas House are absolutely smashing it in terms of quality and popularity. Even Sumemrtime Sage which had a stink on it for quite a while has had a bit of a resurgence and is seen as a beloved game once again. So, I can safely claim that it isn't dead, nor is it dying. It's just that other settings and genres have increased in popularity, causing incest to not be as large and impactful as it once was.

Not to be rude, but pretty much the only reason why I enjoy incest is due to mom (+sis if the game has siblings options) and son relationship, hence why 95% of games that fit incest theme don't fit my tastes due to lack of that relationship focus (cousins, sisters and whatnot only) and pure 3D asset flips.

That's actually the only porn games I play lol, nothing else, but incest, because other games just can't catch my interest in them. And especially don't enjoy anything mainstream, but thanks for the input.
