There are too many developers who think tossing a bunch of empty and uninteresting locations into their game counts as having exploration. It's especially annoying in Text-based games and VNs where their gameplay loops often revolve around visiting a location to trigger a scene, going home to sleep, then going to another location to trigger a scene.
