Months have gone by and yet haven't seen many good games updates. So looked around and a lot of them have been either on hold or already abandoned. Ffs. So good games and abandoned. And yet. Shit games come out daily. Story so bad that You just wanna skip everything, battle system so boring, sex scenes horrible and yet when You look at rating.. 3 points out of 5, 4.5 points out of 5. For what?? Shittiest game ever. I won't even download that crap and yet score is so high while game itself looks and feels from pictures like total shit. What's the point of being even a patreon for those game devs when most of them abandon or simply jumps to another game few months or years into the game? There was a game that everyone liked. Me included. Then suddenly game was put on hold and later abandoned. Dev stated that he/she did not have enough money to continue to make that game. However he/she did had enough money to start new game My Best Deal. How that logic works i have no fucking idea. But damn. So many good games are gone. Few good games are left. While shittiest crap comes out every day. Ugh.

The rise of AI-driven tools has enabled many people to take a step into game development. It's very easy to generate a story and images, all you need to do is throw those together in a game or visual novel engine, and you have a game.

Some developers delve into game development with only one goal: making a lot of money fast, with minimal effort. They underestimate how much work it takes to create a game, and how much skill it takes to create a good one.

These developers are not patient enough to train their skills if they are not good enough, so they abandon their game fast if they also don't make any money from it.

Shoutout to the developers who do put time, effort and love in their game, even if you are succesful or not. They are the kind of developers who will develop their skills and make a good game.

Maids and maidens, Hard to love, The office, The intoxicating flavor, Sexnote, 53x-homecoming, Above the clouds, Midlife crisis (really liked this one), Dark magic, Exchange student, The secret: Reloaded, Bound to please, Sensei overnight, Uncontrollable, This is not heaven, Apartment 69, Wicked paradise, Promises, Wings of silicone, Thinking about You. There are more i'm sure but mostly these are gone from active list to either on hold or abandoned around a year or a bit longer.

Then why even start with a game? Why ask money for it if You don't even have a mind to finish what You have started? Also i'm not talking about games that had a start and were abandoned or put on hold after a few days so how hard could it really be? If they started out with a game and it went really well, had big fan base and even patreons signed up. Updates came out weekly/monthly and later half a year or a year later.
I really don't see this as economic stress or hard to make a game. More like how little they earn making it. Sure there are games that have been done 8 years or longer and still ongoing. Mainly talking now about The Last Sovereign what i also quite like. Haven't played it for 2 or so years but every time new update comes out i'll download it. Have a mind to play it but not much time or effort to get to it.

Yeah.. That's mostly it. Games with tons of porn without any content or fighting get's highest score possible while fully story wise games are passed by or abandoned soon after. Sure. There are also good games among those bad games and have played some/a lot of them also. What i don't really like is that good games are thrown away and shit keeps coming out daily. This site feels like google already. Type in what You want to search and throws at You 40 million things and not one of them is what You actually want to see or know.
Have to agree with that also that either money dries up or gets bored. Bad thing. Game comes out, starts to get fun and interesting and then gets dropped for some weird thing devs come up with. Money problems, family problems, mental issues, starting with new games etc etc..
Those devs who keep up with games they have done and keep updating them either monthly or yearly and keep going are good people. Those games are also worth playing.

What I mean is that because of AI it's much easier to make texts and images. Many people can now make the leap towards game development, but don't want to invest the time it takes to develop the skills needed to make a great game.

In my opinion, AI in its current state is perfect for prototyping or getting new ideas if you're stuck. You always need a human to refactor errors, think about inconsistencies in stories or anatomical errors in images. This technology can make you lazy if you don't already care about the craft, which means that people who are only in it for the money will put in even less effort.

The developers who do use AI in their games and put in the time to developer their own skills are of course different, and I wish them the best in their exciting journey.

I do think there has been a slowdown in the rate in which good games are released. I believe there are two major reasons for this. The first is that the barrier of entry for new developers is just too high. The majority of developers are completely new to development. I personally think that the rise in animations are big factor of this. Creating a game without knowing anything is already a tough ask, but to also learn animation on top of everything? There is also the fact that we also don't tolerate "inferior" art anymore.

The second major problem comes from the global economic problem. People just don't have the time for hobbies anymore. Game creation is a hobby.

As for reviews, this isn't something exclusive to adult games. The world is gradually becoming more and more "anti-criticism". Just look at what's happening with the tech reviewer Marques Brownliee. People feel the need to defend everything now. Any sort of criticism in this community in particular always leads back to the brain dead take of "If you don't like it, don't play it".

This is hedonistic adaption, and it is a well known psychological principle. In the physical world this is why drug addicts need more and more dosage to chase the same level of stimulation they got on their first fix.

Serotonin receptors become overwhelmed, awash with neurotransmitters. The novelty is gone. All you can do is walk away for a while, or keep chasing more and more degenerate content.
