What's the allure of parody?

Hello all,

Something that's been bugging me for a long while. Of course to each their own, but I don't understand what attracts people to play games that parodies established characters. I never once in my life thought I would be interested in seeing Princess Peach take it up the bum, and yet it exists here, and folks play those games.

I mean for characters like Tifa, Lara Croft, and similar, I can understand as they are damn sexy in their own rights. But then again, after playing the real games I still don't feel the need to see them naked and get it going.

By no means am I judging here, I'm simply interested in understanding why some players gravitate towards this genre, over something else perhaps.

I haven't played any parody game of a property I'm a big fan of, but much of my kink (and some of my humor) is in corrupting wholesome things, so e.g. turning Hermione into a bimbo whore for Slytherin boys tickles my funny bone, and another bone too.

Are we talking parodies or "parodies"?

An actual parody is funny—or at least can be. Humour is subjective, bla bla, but a parody that actually aligns with your sense of humour can be sooooo funny.

And then there are "parodies", which are simply porn fanfics, with no attempts to be humorous. It's purely smut; an author can steal fair use character designs, style, story, setting, and write smut on top of that foundation. Saves a shit ton of work. NB, I'm not saying all fanfics are lazy, porn or not. Anyway, "parody" is just an excuse to add a character named Donut Sue to a fictional work that is not yours.

As to why people want to read/play that... haven't you ever had a fictional crush? It seems that even though you recognize the sexual appeal of Tifa and Lara on a rational level, these games failed to properly titillate you.

If you can't comprehend why people like the fantasy of dating or having sex with fictional characters they like then anime culture, rule 34, and even people having crushes on movie characters must destroy your mind.

It's very simple they like the characters personality and looks that's it.
It's a very simple concept, but personally what I don't understand are the games where they have share no personality or traits from their original source.

If I spend several hours playing a game and come to know a character, and the character is also hot, it may makes me want to see her in lewd situations.
It can also works if the character is just really hot and I don't know the game, but it's less fun because context plays a big part.

For example, I find it pretty funny/hot when creators make videos/games/doujins that refer to the context of the original game (to an event that happens in the game, to another character, etc.).
Not really for the sake of immersing myself as a player, but mainly because I like the idea of slightly altering a character to make it work in a lewd situation, it allows you as a player to imagine a bit of the "other side of the story", what you don't see in the original game.

It's probably also linked to the concept of corruption: seeing your character sink into depravity while retaining her original character traits.

I don't see the allure, just like I don't see it in horror-dark comedy(black humour)too.
