It was an okay place to get Japanese games/information about Japanese games. Then F95 took ownership and now the moderation sucks.

No, it is still very much ULMF. In the games area, there is much more of a focus on Japanese games and it is about discussion, not sharing the game (asking for a game in the forum will get a ban, although occasionally someone will share a game, recently the main mod of the gaming area has even posted some older games). There is a role playing area (I've never ventured in) which seems very active [like LOK] , the gaming area use to be much more active, but the activity has significantly gone down (mainly due to the reduced emphasis on posting games and the banning of folks saying "I want a link too!"). Although I only registered for the site a few years ago, I've been going to ULMF almost every day for several years (actually discovered them when looking for more info on Line Marvel, the LM in their name). So my opinion of the site is definitely positive.
