Hey, guys. I'm making a character for my adult novel. The main character is a guy I make myself. Yesterday I saw a ready-made character for Daz Studio: actor Keanu Reeves. My own character doesn't look very good: he lacks personality. Keanu Reeves has an individual appearance, but he is too famous.
I asked my wife: which character would she prefer in the novel, my character or Keanu? She replied with: Of course Keanu! But it's better if it's Johnny Depp! I understand her preference for Keanu for a girl.
But my players are guys.
Question to the players: which character would you prefer?
- neutral, unknown character.
- a character with a bright appearance but famous.
- Other
My MC and Keanu

To be honest, if you hadn't told me that was Keanu Reeves I wouldn't have been able to tell. Hairstyle generally does a lot to someone's appearance.

My personal opinion is that famous faces break the immersion, but only if you're able to make the connection. If you can't tell that's Keanu Reeves, it's just as fine as a regular dude.

For me personally, when I write and design characters, I sort of turn my brain a little off for that.
Somehow the right designs find the characters themselves.
I assume you already have the personality lined up for the main character. If that is the case, he will "ask" you for the look.

Yeah, it's a bit vague explanation, but that's how it works for me.

Perhaps create a small scene where the MC displays personality and then put both images in and see which one that fits.

It would be better if your wife made games. There are almost no games for heterosexual women on this site. Or multiple main character or lesbianism. Enrages.

Accepted. I plan to give the character a proper name.

I tried to get my wife to make a novel. As long as she resists. Although she offered me some ideas that I find too crazy even for a guy. But I often consult with her.
This is a girl who graduated from the Faculty of Design and Painting with honors. But now she prefers to make carpentry

Unless it is a story that specifically revolves around a known actor I would rather go for the unknown guy. That helps out (male) players tremendously with identifying with the character. I guess it is expected that women would rather go for a good-looking or famous guy, because they would not want to identify with the male main character anyways.

It's always a question of target audience - you should think about that :)

Is there any chance that you could actually create a convincing Keanu Reeves look a like? Maybe you should actually try using an image of Keanu Reeves?;)

I'm not doing a story about Cian Reeves. His model was used only as an example of a famous actor. Any other famous actor could have been in his place :)

I don't understand the original question, so drawing on some assumptions here I'll throw down some suggestions...

Which character would you prefer...

...to make me a grilled cheese sandwich = I don't care
...to wash my dog = I don't care
...to fuck me silly while not looking me in the eyes = Neutral Unknown Character
...to fuck me silly while looking me in the eyes = Character with a bright appearance but famous
...to clean up the mess made while fucking = I don't care
...to wash the love napkin we dabbed with afterward = Character with a bright appearance but famous
...to totter in and dust my balls whenever I cough = Neutral Unknown Character
...to fix the transmission on my powder blue Nissan Stanza = Character with a bright appearance but famous

Yeah that last one throws me a bit but I just keep picturing Christina Hendricks in a pair of overalls holding a wrench with just a tiny dab of grease under one eye.

Hope this helps!
