Seeking Which games suprised you with its quality?

As the title said, which games you decide to try but had REALLY low expectations for it and you expected the game to be utter crap yet it suprised you with how really good the game ended up being?

For me i remember, one of first game that suprised me was Intertwined. Idk why but i was expecting some cheap teenage school drama with crappy mc but ended up loving it at the end. This game was lot of fun.

I tried Long Road Home only because of the setup (biker gang) and honestly, judging by the pictures i was expecting crappy game but the game have some nice writing and i ended up enjoying it a lot.

Just another rapey female-MC RPGM game with mind-control, I thought at first glance. Literally 98-99% of these are worthless to me. What made me take a look was actually how rough the initial release looked. Stock RPGM title screen, amateurish MS-Paint drawings, and a very unfinished game. I basically didn't ignore it because it stood out from all the Completed but pointless Japanese rapefests on the engine and promised a dual-MC slow corruption story. It turned out to be one of the best mind-control and corruption games ever made, and also one of the best H-games just in terms of gameplay and writing.

Here it was mostly the Honey Select that put me off. Had this just been a VN, I would have definitely passed it up. But I saw gameplay elements in the screenshots and it's a trainer, so I eventually had a look. I'm glad I did, because this is one of the funniest games I've ever played and also a great hard maledom game.

I have a lot less praise for this game, because the grind and lackluster writing (the above game does the same kind of dialogue much better) make me lose interest halfway through episode 2. But I will say its page here made me think this would be some kind of drama, when it's actually more of a corruption-themed comedy with a tinge of telenovela. Cool concept and I like the renders, but the aforementioned problems really drag it down.

The one that immediately springs to mind for me is Midlife Crisis. I ignored it for years because it has one of the most thoroughly offputting title images you'll find on this site. Finally only gave it a shot because of its loli tag. It turned into one of my favorite middle aged male protag incest games. The graphics are far from top shelf, but they're much better than in the sloppy promotional image. The scenario is pretty implausible, but never takes itself seriously and gets pretty damned kinky at times. It's one of the handful of games I play every single time it gets a new release now...

To their credit, the dev is aware of how shit some of the graphics are and periodically breaks the fourth wall to call themselves out on it in-game.
