Games often feature a kind of "loser" MC who gets girls either by 'magic dick' or by ridiculous circumstances. Do people prefer that or do the devs just don't know how to write a convincingly attractive MC? Or is there an entirely different reason?

Do you prefer a "loser" MC or a convincingly attractive MC?

As a side: I don't care how much action a guy got. Means little these days. Its not how I judge the value of a fellow man. Wish you all a good day.

Edit: with attractive I mean mostly behaviour

Depends on the game, could go either way honestly. Though I will say, I don't like blonde or ginger MCs, just not an MC hair color :ROFLMAO:

If that's the only 2 choice then i'd go with the bottom, my preference aside, loser mc is also a tired and overused trope, need god tier writting to save a story from that. Still, i'd rather something halfway instead of some bottom of the barrel loser or miscellaneous scheming playboy chad, which are extremes from both sides.

A weaker, socially rejected MC is easier to write and identify with.

1. He is easier to identify with as we automatically root for the underdog. This was not invented by AVN developers, this is basic story telling. Think of Harry Potter, Bilbo Baggins, Peter Parker etc. While not exactly losers per-se (BTW: an AVN MC doesn't have to be a complete loser either), they are all relatively weak/inferior compared to the group or peers they are measured against, especially early on.

2. When the MC is weak, finding challenges for him is easy. Anyone can refuse him. Anyone can tell him to fuck off, reject him or even bully him. All the developer has to do is find a way to overcome said challenges and obstacles, but the task of creating them in the first place is easy.

Conventionally attractive as in Henry Cavill or Justin Bieber? That's a pretty broad term.

Most games I've played the Mc looks like a loser. Rarely detailed, mostly thin.

I'd usually prefer someone ripped and handsome because that's more relatable.

More often than not in 3D games, MC just looks like default male asset you get.

Never understood this, tbh. Even if one is the underdog irl, why would anyone want to be that in a story too?! If fiction is escape from reality why not getting an upgrade.

But I also never understood the appeal of challenges. Why not just have a MC get what he wants and write arousing h scenes from it?
Sometimes I read that players need to feel like they earned a LI/H scene. Don't get that either, but if one has written a convincingly attractive MC (not just looks; everything) he earned it anyways just by being like that.

To have a MC that one admires, that maybe even is a rolemodel, that gets what he wants while still being good - I'd find that enjoyable and relaxing. Always wondered how people can enjoy typical movies that consist of 90% problems to be solved and 2% happy end. Especially in a sex game/power fantasy game, I want 95% happy ends (lol) and 5% challenges. :BootyTime:

(Your game really is a nice exception (y))

Basic storytelling 101, conflict is interesting. If you don't have a conflict, you don't have a story. Doesn't need to be some huge end-of-the-world conflict, just any sort of conflict internal or external that matters to the protagonist.

There's definitely a place for no-conflict endless fuckfest games but it gets old fast. If the protagonist gets what he wants 100% of the time without challenge, there's no difference in one sex scene from the other, nor from one love interest to another (besides looks). It becomes the same present wrapped in different paper. The first few times you open up a PS5 its fun; The next 10-20-30 times you open up a PS5, that shit gets tiring.

A mindset I can't relate to, but seems a good explanation for what I usually see. Thanks!
Always preferred 'invincible' and slice-of-life moments over the thrill and drama.

As long as he is well written, I don't care.

I think this is the right answer. Like, I enjoy everything so long as it's well written and makes sense.

This probably isn't helpful... but I would vote for both because I like all things that are done well.

porn story telling should not follow the same conventions as non porn story telling, and quite frankly i dont think it is even true that in non porn story telling you need some kind of conflict to have a story, what about comedies

i think you have a narrow minded view of what a story can be

Well, the poll so far indicates a strong preference for less cringe MCs. If any dev wants to cash out while making people happy...

25 people on a porn game pirating site is not a great sample. It just indicates a tiny percentage of the people that frequent the general discussion forum preferences. Extrapolation is possible, of course, but I'd still want more instances of the poll to get a better idea.
