It could give new promotions to various devs and various devs who create varierty of games to keep us entertained all around the year would also feel appreciated.
Could have various categories like best consistent update release time, good story, new entries, good art, new innovations

And as for voting only forum members who have been around for atleast more than 1 year can only vote.

There is a yearly Xmas donor's choice for not-yet-famous devs/ games, winners receive donations from that month or sth.
example 2023 : Christmas Contest 2023 ($1200+ Pool)

That is a poll/ award I really like - it makes sense, is a really cool perk for donors, and some "smaller" game devs profit from it. good thing.

But I loathe "oty" awards or such that are nothing but popularity awards. Those titles who win those typically do not need / profit the least from any such titles/ awards.
And users also do not profit from it, we all heard about them winners already.

As much as I'd love it, it would just turn into a popularity contest, as Goeffel mentioned. Even if we made awards specifically designed towards smaller, more obscure titles, there would still be your usual "I vote for [extremely popular title]", there would be complaints about which games get promoted or not, and it still wouldn't reflect the actual quality of the games. Like, some of the most popular games on f95 are either carbon copies of other popular games, or games with trash visuals and/or stories, abandoned games, or any combination of the three.

Hmm true that. Hadn't thought that aspect.
