I was looking to get the Mansion A/B/C's Erotic Maid games from anywhere and figured this was the single best place to get them, but after getting a good few +1 comments... Well the mods moved them to the rejection area. Why? Because they didn't have English game translations. I wouldn't know if they did or not, I bet someone figured it out as they're quite old, but instead I got booted in the face by kind of a dumb rule in the request area.
It's a request, not an upload, shouldn't it be to the uploader to provide it if they'd do it on an actual post? And a lot of games are perfectly playable without the need for a translation. Would be neat if they had it, of course, but the rule that a requested game needs a translation right out of the box is just... So bizarre to me. How would some of these great games even spread if other forums did it the same way? They'd just die because it couldn't reach a translator in time or if someone who had a translation didn't know people even wanted it because the request keeps getting shot down.
Not saying it's the fault of the mods either, they're just doing their jobs. I'm glad they are, shows that there's moderation and contact between the community and the staff rather than that disconnected "omnipotent god" feeling. I just really don't get that rule for requests. Not bashing this place, I love it, Even though it's festering with [RPGM][abandoned] and Ren'py copy paste work, it's still my number one source for a good old Johnson shaker programs, you know? And the community is fantastic, which I initially didn't expect. Who knew porn sharing could be such a wholesome and enriching experience to?
