I really did want to like this game but it just kept on disappointing me.
Given that it's a visual novel game, there isn't a lot of "gameplay" to talk about, granted it's a lot more polished compared to a lot of other renpy games.
However what visual novels lack in gameplay they are suppose to make up in choices/story, Wicked Choices doesn't really deliver in this regard.
The choices you do make doesn't really give a huge impact following the choice you've made.
This isn't usually a problem if it's tailored correctly
SlutCraft: Heat of the Sperm &
Fashion Business comes to mind, where your choices greatly affects the character and how a scene plays, while leaving the main story mostly in tact.
However in Wicked Choices, most choices you make only change a certain flavor of said event, with only a handful of choices influencing future events.
Not to mention that given how sparse the world of Wicked Choices implies (multiple monsters & creatures) it rarely wants to deviate from it's main story "races".
Essentially there is a lack of agency in a game about choice.
Artistically speaking the 3D render is quite dated at this point and it doesn't help the fact that some of the models look very similar to each other (Syria & Mike's niece comes to mind) especially body wise, everyone more or less has the same body type with barely any variation in skin tone, "assets" or even height (if we exclude Syria in the beginning).
And while the models facial expressions aren't deep inside uncanny valley, there are times that the facial expression of certain models make them look very... "undesirable".
The sex scenes are alright or passable, the only annoying thing is that there's not a lot of agency nor does the scene develop the characters inner "yearnings" beyond predictable (I love him, I love her) affection.
Now the story, Wicked Choices story leaves a very bittersweet experience and frustration.
One frustrating aspect comes from a similar issue Seed of Chaos has, which is that it has too many plotlines that it has to juggle while failing to justify why it is required.
The second frustrating aspect is how Wicked Choices at times will just dump loads upon loads of lore upon you with no organic build up and this is without ever trying to mystify or allow the player to indirectly figure out the lore, this only then dampens to the story telling in a similar way as to watching a captivating tv show and abruptly the show is cut off and you're treated to infomercials related to the tv show you're watching.
Since typically most games should only tell the absolute minimum lore while the player has "control", in other words unless the game gives you ways to access books or notes detailing the background lore, it only serves to cockblock the player.
All this while the characters themselves are quite well developed and there are various times you the player may start to feel captivated by the characters different struggles and flaws only to be slapped by 15 paragraphs of lore and 2 chapters later be able to pick up the captivating part.
While I appreciate the developer being on f95 and it certainly do have it's moments, it does however fall short on multiple fronts:
It doesn't really present it's more exotic worldbuilding (since it's pretty clear there's more than just angels and demons).
The game mostly teases us of "macabre" sexual deviation, but rarely fulfills it.
The conflicts between character are abruptly interrupted by a mostly unnecessary explanation of the lore.
And where we rarely get to really see the characters inner yearnings be exposed beyond it being tied to having affection for someone, let alone having their yearnings conflict with their personality (as opposed to circumstances).
