A Brief Description of the Game, and a Little Warning About This Review
When I usually write a review, I cover gameplay, story, graphics, music, sound effects, voiceovers (if any), UI, optimization, and stability, in that order. But with this game, that structure feels wrong. It's not just unfinished; it barely qualifies as a game. It's more like an animation viewer wrapped in the illusion of a game. If you still want the detailed breakdown, keep reading the next section. Otherwise, feel free to skip ahead.
Now Here's the "Fun" Part of This Review
- Gameplay: Almost non-existent. I've played games built on RPG Maker and Unity that were far more... playable and engaging.
- Story: Virtually absent. You control a winged female character in a world filled with fantasy creatures and humans wearing random outfits, some look like soldiers, others like scientists. That's the extent of the narrative.
- Graphics: The game uses Unreal Engine 5. Lighting looks decent, models are passable, and there are plenty of well-made adult animations. This is the only strong point.
- Music: I honestly don't remember hearing any.
- Sound Effects: Present, but barely. Just like everything else in the game.
- Voiceover: Minimal. You might hear a few lines during dialogues, but that's it.
- UI: Exists. That's about all that can be said.
- Optimization: It's using UE5, but it wasn't built with it from the start. The devs decided to switch engines mid-development, from UE4 to UE5, which is notoriously unoptimized. So as you might expect, performance is a disaster. If you're curious, try running it yourself and see how fast your system turns into a furnace.
- Stability: I didn't experience crashes, but then again, I didn't "play" much beyond placing animations in the sandbox mode. It seems stable if all you're doing is that.
What's the Appeal
Under normal circumstances, I'd highlight the game's core feature here, the thing that sets it apart. But this isn't a game, so instead, I'll compare it to other adult animation tools.
It has a sandbox mode where you can place pre-made animations, adjust lighting, change weather, and arrange objects. If you've used Koikatsu, Honey Select Studio, or Virt A Mate, you'll feel right at home. Apparently, the sandbox is flexible enough that someone even programmed Pong into it. Because clearly, nothing says "immersive open-world adult RPG" like retro arcade games built into your sex scene studio.
What It Should've Been
This was supposed to be an open world adult RPG. But calling it a game feels dishonest. Right now, it's just a glorified animation tool with some movement mechanics. There's no real content, no RPG systems, and nothing to play. If you're expecting even a basic experience, say, something on par with a turn-based RPGM title, you'll be disappointed. But if all you want is a quick adult scene or a sandbox to build your own, you might enjoy it. That's all it currently offers.
Why I'm Pessimistic About the Future and the So-Called "Completed" Status
Let's be honest. Most people know this, even if they don't like saying it: Patreon funded adult games often stay in "development" forever. Don't believe me? Click "Latest Updates", filter by "3d game" and "Unreal Engine", then sort by views. Notice something? Nearly all of those projects are "in development" for years.
But why? Because finishing the game would mean losing their Patreon income. And the developers know it. So instead, they delay. They switch engines mid-development. They redo maps over and over. They post updates about "limited resources" and ask for "understanding", even though no one forced them to promise anything.
Now, back to Wild Life. This review is written on July 11, 2025. This thread was created on July 20, 2017 here at F95ZONE. Their(developer) oldest Patreon post? April 2016. That's almost 10 years of continuous funding. And yet, what do we have to show for it? Certainly not the open-world adult RPG that was promised nearly a decade ago.
Maybe they're just inexperienced. Maybe I'm being harsh. But I've followed this game for several years, and I'm also a developer. Even if I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, it just doesn't add up. The direction of the project, the constant reworks, the mid-development engine migration, and the fact that barely any gameplay exists, none of it feels accidental. Let me be clear: Even if you've never coded or opened Unreal Engine, you could learn everything from scratch and build a functional game in 3 to 4 years. Ten years? With this result? That's not incompetence. That's intentional.
Now for the punchline: they're "planning" a release around August to October 2026. Roughly one year from now. You're telling me that in roughly 12 months, they're going to finish an open-world RPG? Add story, gameplay, music, voice acting, performance fixes? When they couldn't get it done in nearly a decade? I don't believe it. Not even for a second. Take a screenshot of this prediction: they're going to delay it again and again. And most people will have moved on and forgotten about the original timeline by then.
Summary
The Good:
- Visuals look good thanks to Unreal Engine 5
- Plenty of adult animations
- Sandbox mode offers some creative freedom
- Didn't crash during my time with it
The Bad:
- Lacks actual gameplay; barely qualifies as a game
- Story is non-existent in what's supposed to be an RPG
- No memorable music
- Sound design is inconsistent and poorly balanced
- Characters rarely speak, and most lines have no voice
- Performance is terrible due to UE5 and poor development practices
- Sandbox mode, while functional, feels like a distraction from the real task: making a game
TL;DR: This project isn't a game. It might never be. It has impressive visuals and a mountain of sex animations, but that's it. I don't expect anything meaningful to come from it. My guess? They'll keep padding out sandbox features until interest fades, then quietly move on to the next thing.
And that's why the final rating is 1 STAR.
