Japan just lower adult age from 20 to 18. So maybe they will change this old law too.

Just wishful thinking.

I bet they only did it so that peeps can get married earlier and thus can start popping kids earlier.:coffee:

Your intel is only partially correct:
And so are yours.

OP was clearly referring to the age of consent, that is , but is generally raised to 16 (locally up to 18) by local Law ; yet mostly only when the consent isn't clear enough (in short when the parents don't agree).

But well, it don't give hopes to OP, since the censorship in Japan is not a question of morality. Japan is one, if not the, country with the more lax laws in terms of sexuality. Some are as weird as the law against prostitution, that limit it to vaginal penetration (anything else, including anal, is not prostitution) and just say that it's illegal. There's sanctions if you're a prostitute soliciting someone, if you're a pimp, if you force someone to prostitute or if you serve as intermediary. But being someone asking for financial compensation for a vaginal penetration, well you don't have the right to this, it's illegal... but there's no sanction.
Yet there's this censorship. But I think it's wrong to see it as a morality law. From my point of view, it's more a question of culture. Culturally, they do consider that genitalia are something that should be shown only in private, and only to the person(s) you'll be sexually involved with, whatever how many they are and how perverted will be what will happen next, and so have to be censored in all other cases, period.

apparently you don't know the difference between "adulthood" (legal status of a citizen) and "age of consent" (for sex)
Apparently, you don't know what "context" means, and fail to extrapolate with the information you have...

Do you really believe that, in a forum mostly relying around pornography, and while talking about a law regarding pornography, OP was really caring about the legal age to buy tobacco ?
He saw that Japan lowered adulthood age, thought that this included the age of consent, and wondered if it was a sign that Japan was loosening its supposed stuck up views regarding morality, period.

Politicians fear ruining their reputations by fighting this old law. Probably that's the only reason they're holding to pass the law removing pixels on intimate areas.

If some japan politicians guys want to carve his name in history book. this is the chance. there are millions of Japanese secretly support the idea. they are just waiting for some hentai messiah right now.

Can't wait for new age to come. want to see mass release of old stuff uncensored.

No thanks,

I actually hope every other country starts following Japan if just slightly blurring a few genitals means that you gain access to games with incest, loli, shota, rape and more controversial kinks without fear of content censorship...

Op was clearly not referring to age of consent.
He was quite clearly referring to censorship and how it MIGHT possibly change since Japan is changing other things and using the OP as the example, the voting and marriage laws. IE, lowering the age at which someone is considered "adult".

Japan is weird with its view of porn. A couple years ago they banned porno mags from convenience stores but then mainstream Japanese 2nd hand shops have JAVs/hentai mangas/porno mags out in the open for anyone to walk by as they browse Hollywood films or video games.
