i keep seeing people saying they are using wineskin to play rpgm games on mac. when i try to go to those links it simply takes me nowhere.

Whatever you look at the

of the project, or the

of a derived version, none have been updated since six years. And when looking a software dedicated sites (like softsonic or clubic by example), what they propose is either the version 1.7 from sourceforge, or the version 1.8.x from github.

Perhaps that it can still works with recent version of MacOS X, but it's normal that you get nothing from the official site ; it's as dead as the project itself.
