v0.16.1
Brief-A game based on the WITCH series where you corrupt the (aged up) heroines. A great premise, some interesting scenarios and overall good art is somewhat let down by grind, design and imperfect translation. If you like the look of the preview, it's worth a download if you use cheats.
In depth-
Story: Good start with built-in lore gives a strong setup to the game, it's nice to have an unrepentantly evil MC for once. I think the developer really needs to work out the motivations for each character and go from there, as it is they keep changing from update to update. This is most obvious in that the MC starts seducing the Guardians then abruptly decides to blackmail them for no discernable reason other than opportunism. He blackmails one girl threatening to expose her criminal boyfriend, then lets said BF die without trying to secure her loyalty. It's hard to get invested in the story when your MC is making such nonsensical decisions.
The English is subpar, although never incomprehensible. It just seems like the translation from Russian has left in a few typos and a whole lot of awkward phrasing. D
Art: Probably the strongest part of the game. The females are realistically proportioned, fairly unique and some sex scenes are very well done with a gallery available. My main quibble is that a few of the faces seem a bit "off", especially the main LI. B
UI: No major complaints given that I'll whinge about the battles in the next bit. Bulk buying would be a welcome addition. B
Gameplay: Grindy and railroaded. Definitely use the cheats to escape the money grind, and I'd recommend using the console to cheat through the repetitive forest battles. For a grind to be enjoyable there needs to be a sense of progression, but other than going up in levels for combat, there is none. Something like equipment or powerups is needed and the bookstore minigame needs to be shorter (but just as rewarding) with only 1 shoplifter per shift.
Quest-wise, at the moment you just follow where the exclamation mark leads you to the next quest. To make it feel like there's more choice, the character plots would need to be available concurrently, rather than the current situation of being forced to pursue one character for a while then completely forgetting about them. E (or D with cheats)
Discretionary: Despite the above concerns I did enjoy playing this game and the latest update seems to be a step in the right direction, with actual choice and plot developments. This, combined with my belief that most of the issues could be remedied gives me hope. A
Overall: 3 (4 with cheats)
