Working on breeding game

Hey I’m working on a breeding game like breeding season, however my scope isn’t going to be grand. I tried a few time past few years but got busy or distracted, however I want to try getting something made this time around. I’m making this post cause I want to get a general idea of what people are looking for in breeding game and their opinion on my scope. I like to lay out my plan on what I’m working towards and what I’m currently doing.

I think it would be easier to say what I’m currently working on which is just pure programming and using temp art assets with the Godot game engine. My goal is to have at least a functional game before working on the artistic side of the game. I am currently using AI images I generated as pure place holders for dev and play testing purposes. I plan on replacing them with original assets and animated scenes. What I have done so far is mostly broken up code from testing that I haven’t pieced together as a playable game. Once I do that and have a demo I’ll move over to the dev log discussion.

What I would like to talk about though is my plan and input from the community. As I said nothing grand simple and easy. I want to have this game done at most within 2 years.

Plan

1: Use a body type rig system that different species share. I have 12 body types planed out and about 2 different species for each body type (more species may be added). Each body type however has a gender counterpart so 6 male body types, and 6 female body types.

2: The pairing combo will purely be MxF since I plan on just making a breeding focused game. Each combination totals to 36, however there may be additional scene of the pairing based on time and funding.

3: The game will lean more towards Monster Black Market objective wise, and play style of the original Breeding season. No complicated mechanics or feature. Breed, Birth, Harvest, Feed, Buy, Sell, Demands, Rewards, stats, and buff / debuff. I don’t want to get lost in the feature mechanic hell, just get it done.

4: Story is simply Make Money and Breed Bitches. Unlock new species as your progress and keep going. I’ll put effort into unique characters for narrative purposes but like the art side I’m not focused on that part yet. Maybe if enough time and funding I’ll add some spicy stuff but not really my goal.

5: Complete a finished game… that’s it.

Not much really just want to keep things simple. Something I would like to talk about though is species that could be in the game. I like to see what kind of species would best fit the body types I’ll be using. There’s only 6 to focus on (gender counterpart double it to 12 body types) so I like to figure out what kind of species would best fit them. The list below best describes them.

1 Human: Average human body type that human and elves have, but they can also have fur, scales, animal ears, and/or claws. Simply a head, torso, arms, and legs with addition based on gender.

2 Human with Tail: Like Human but with a tail limb and more feral in form and posture.

3 Harpy style: Arms replaced with wings and a short stiff tail. They can either be flesh like a bat or dragon, or feathers.

4 Centaur: Not much details needed here, but a human upper body replacing a horse head. Any four legged creature with hooves or paws.

5 Snake like: Lamia comes to mind, but also anything such as eels or centipedes. Slimes and even plant like creatures fit in this category after some testing.

6 Spider like: Arachnid comes to mind, but also any bug or crustacean as well. Just like Snake like, after testing creatures with 6 limbs can also fit here.

Species that share the same body type are simply using the same rig for animation purposes so I would like to find out more species that could fit these body types. I have 15 species at the moment, but I would like to add more for variety purposes, but not too much.

So any opinions or suggestions is welcomed.

Best wishes, as far as I read, it has a good future, just make sure you create some content on the first release, people tend to get very angry about the hype and give low scores if something is too incomplete.

Anyway, best of luck, I'm going to pay attention to your game myself, don't forget to claim the developer tag once you upload and publish your work.
