Honestly don't really feel the "25 years of fantasy writing experience" on this one mate. This is bog-standard amateur harem AVN.
MC is a m'lady-spamming wet blanket and a whamen respecting nice guy (wimp), who's white-knighting for every girl he ever meets, and whenever he gets a rude/cold treatment, he just brushes it off as: "Something's bothering her, I have to help somehow". His default mode is an apologetic feminist bootlicker, he is as soft as my penis when I play this game, literal quote from him: "Some guys are like that. Only thinking of what makes them happy. It's selfish and gives the rest of us a bad name". Where the fuck is your fedora, man? Even other character make occasional remarks that he's such a nice guy and has "such a beautiful heart", unlike all other men. Omaigat ambatu throw up. Why would he volunteer to help some rude lesbian girl to score some pussy? Why is he being so overdramatic about a sparring match with Jade? How many times does he have to apologize for nothing? Why is he ALWAYS asking for consent and permission? Why is he such an uncharismatic emasculated doormat?
The girls are MELTING, like ice cubes in the heat, in front of MC's compliments, verbose flirting, his feminist rants or most likely just his cute face. As for their personalities - they're basically harem rom-com anime characters, but on a budget. Which includes, but not limited to: exaggerated emotional expressions, annoying attitude and unreasonable behavior. Everyone is bisexual btw.
Most dialogue is a mix of pleasantries exchange and meaningless small talk, which I've began skipping fairly early on for the lack of engagement. Don't even get me started on endless phone messages - instant fucking skip.
The plot reeks of logical fallacies and has more holes than a colander. Like I find it hard to believe that MC would suddenly go out of his way to become involved in a case of his employer, whom he has no relation to, when he works as a simple janitor. Or that investigator would suddenly start trusting him after his sob story about a stalker. Or that he was stabbed with a knife and police swept the case under the rug because the perp was a small girl, and so on.
How does it make any sense to give a player choice to reject gobbo gf AFTER rambling about how cute and beautiful she truly is and how unjust the society is in it's prejudice towards goblins? That sounded like a love confession followed by "it's a prank, bro".
There are very little decisions and player agency. Feels like a kinetic novel until once in a blue moon that you get to make some choice. Like, If you don't want to help every soul in the vicinity - tough luck and if you want to ignore the black lesbian bitch - you can't. And this is most definitely a visual novel, there aren't any gameplay or point&click sandbox mechanics, at least until second season where you can choose to participate in the extra events for various girls.
Models are kinda on a lower quality. Other species look like amateur cosplayers, just humans of different height and skin color, sometimes with additional accessories. Renders are low resolution with lots of blur and visual artifacts, tho it became better with later updates.
Sex scenes are ok in the animation department for a Honey Select 2 VN, but not great, I've certainly seen better. Not too short and have some naughty talk, which is a bit too dry for my tastes. No sound design whatsoever. Scenes themselves are pretty rare, so definitely not a fap game.
I'd give this ★★★☆☆, but everytime this spineless twat of a protagonist starts interacting with someone else, it makes me cringe in pain, so no.
