Would you enjoy more playing in your native tongue?

Hi,
As you guessed, this is more aim to non native English speakers.
Most of the game are in english or engrish which is quite understandable due to obvious reasons but somes offer some translations package, do you appreciate that?

it depend of the writing, if it's good I prefer my native language, but if it's cringy I find the english more sustainable.

If we're referring to all games industry then english is my go to, actually I can't stand original dubbing made for my country, so I always stich wit eng + subtitles in my native, but if it's not available eng. is absolutely fine with me. I could even say I prefer it, because it widens my ability to speak. If it's decently translated, of course.

I can't stand original dubbing made for my country

I join you on this ! it lost a lot most of the times.
Concerning adults games, i prefer mainly in English due to bad translations or poor writings, sounds a bit dull in my native tongue.

Two things:
1) Translations are generally bad. Even professionally translated literature is usually better in the original language. I expect translation of indy porn games much worse than that.
2) The threshold for accepting bad language is better if it is a second language for the reader. Even though I think my English is decent enough, I still can't pick up all possible mistakes or style errors which I could in my native language.

I'm 100% fine with english and would only play a translation if it's done really well, complete and adapted. I mean, it's odd if the text is in let's say german and certain items etc. remain english. That said, I'm rather comfortable speaking english so it may be different for those who are somewhat less proficient.

Heck to the no. I won't say which it is, but it's a bumpkin language for a bumpkin country. About the only thing I prefer it for is dirty talk.

I'am a native German speaker, but don't really care, wether a game is in English or German. So from my perspective, a German translation wouldn't be worth the effort.

Such a good and valid point here ! I also think the bad writing feels less painfull for non native, a correct but moronic English would be more easily accepted.

Like movies in its original language, I prefer play in English due the several regionalisms there are in Spanish idiom, which is a really turn off to me.

I like that developers and/or players of the game, offer options to folks who don't speak English be it via mods or original programming. Though, that being said, poor translations can wreck a game, so finding the right people to do this is always difficult. Translating one language to another isn't as easy as 1, 2, 3. You've got to take into account not only the translation it self, but then convey the correct interpretation of the words to the right language. Also a lot of words in other languages so don't mean the same in English, and vice versa. Like pookie in English, which can be a term of endearment, or Garfield the cat's teddy bear, sounds like puki, which in the Philippines means vagina

I'm German but I play all games in English, both adult and others. I don't like German translations of English games. Translating stuff always messes with the original text. So contextual things like jokes or innuendo doesn't translate very well between languages. I'm doing the same with movies and tv series, although I don't watch tv much anymore.

I'll consume German and French prodcutions in those languages if they intrigue me. But that doesn't happen very often. For some reason most stuff is produced in English even if the producers are German or French.

Translations heavily depend on the theme and quality. There have been games where the machine translation actually added a lot of charm and challenge for those who played it (Son of a bitch for example) and it actually somehow adds to the immersion.

Language is unfortunately much more than just changing words. If the product is already bad no translation will make it better for a non-native speaker. As language also communicates a part of the culture it really becomes impossible to create decent translations that follow that in depth. People from countries where TV is dubbed into their native language understand what i mean. Lost in translation isnt just a stupid sentence - it actually happens. So if the product was done by a native English speaker i definitely prefer English over my own native language. There is a good reason why it takes a lot of time and skilled people to get a book translated btw

I can't even watch porn in my native language because the cringe instantly kills my boner.
So yeah, English works just fine, especially if the writing isn't exactly stellar.

OFC I would prefer to play games made in my first language, but the main reason would be the context, common sense, and a sort of agreement between the story and cultural background.

People is more comfortable with situations they're familiar with and tend to just stay the hell away from ambiguous situations; like someone from a remote corner in Cambodia making a story about what happens in the little hut they built for their daughter to host boys pretending her and to have sexual contact with them in private away from their main house.

And I still was not called friends)) and there is, even among the developers)
