Sorry, I'm late arriving to the conversation on this topic. I can understand a lot of the criticism this game receives. It's not as realistic as many other stories. It doesn't have the drama, it's not as gritty. All the girls are in love with MC. He's too perfect. The story's too sweet. Most of the girls are virgins or at least never say that they are not. One girl has a boyfriend, turns out he's gay. You know what, all the reasons I love this story. Some developers seem to think their story might win the Nobel Prize for Porn Literature. I've played a game that was a romantic comedy for over a year when all of a sudden we found out that the romantic interest had been sexually abused by a teacher. In another game we found out that the reason Mom married her asshole husband was because her step father, who had sexually abused her for years, was afraid of him. In another story it turns out that in an LI's backstory she was kidnapped as a child and tortured until she became a killer. In another, one of LI's dies in a fire and you have to choose which one. Who needs any of that? I have drama in my real life. I have drama at work, I have drama at home. I really don't need a bunch of drama in my porn games. Steven Spielberg made Schindler' List and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Schindler's List is the better movie. After a hard day at work when I get home, I would much rather watch Raiders. When I get a chance to sit down and have a moment to myself, I turn on my computer. When I see that WVM has a update, my day gets a little better. It's fun to play. I want MC to be likable after all I see him as me. The scene where MC plays basketball with the kid, finding out Willow is MC's sister, there are moments in this game that I find downright heartwarming. I don't want a game where I end up feeling worse than I did before I started playing it. I've read comments where posters have said that what happened in the game was so heartbreaking that it made them cry. How is that a good thing? (Well at least they had some tissues handy.) Maybe that is why this game is so financially successful. Maybe, generally speaking not specifically (I feel a lot of facepalms coming and probably some retorts), people who are relatively successful and have the money to pledge to games already have enough to deal with in their regular lives that they just want to sit down and have some relatively drama free fun.
Per BD, plans are that the game takes 4-5 years to complete. I know everyone likes Bailey, I do too; but personally I'd like to patch things up with Liz.
