not really. this is the first edition where he actually fucks Alexia and the other way he is involved is the bar girls where he dates them before you're really involved.Doesn't he already do that, why do you need a mod?
This mod fixes that, although it perhaps goes a bit too far in the other direction:I wish the arrangement with Bruce (Bryce? whatever) could've continued without Resistance pill -_- too much debuffs, it's like you're playing a cripple after a while. I wanted to check the new advertized threesome scene very much, but... yeah, no, it's impossible to play like that.
The performance problems will be resolved - they hadn't been reported during the playtesting period and I haven't experienced them myself, but now that people are reproducing issues and providing feedback on it, we can either revert the engine changes completely or find the main culprit. Since it degrades over time, there is SOME kind of memory leak thingy. If you install even a small number of mods, the game becomes way more jank.
But at the same time, mods greatly improve the experience.
A lot of this is surely because of the nature of modding this game. Plaintext combined with strict and not entirely intuitive syntax, poor documentation, massive amounts of state, and difficult and time consuming to test and debug, etc.
So, on the one end it feels like things could fail more gracefully. For example, the glaring, verisimilitude-destroying "missing variable" labels could *very often* be elided with the player being none-the-wiser. Just trimming the ones that come at the beginning or end of a passage would probably remove 80%-90% of them. Mod makers would want to disable this, of course.
The fact that the same passage can display more than once in a row without the screen being cleared first feels like an architectural issue. I'm pretty sure there is some facility in place to guard against infinite loops already, because you can get *very long* loops that finally break out after like, a good fraction of a minute. An orgasm loop where orgasms apply debuffs is basically game wrecking and necessitates a restart. Ideally, there should be *no way* for a mod to create an infinite loop *unless* the mod author explicitly uses a loop.
But there's a one thing you could do to make modding infinitely less jank l1lym, which is to create a verification process.
Think of this like unit testing but useful:
Have several dozen contexts (state + passage) that a mod needs to run through. The mod is verified if it passes all tests without throwing an error. If it passes all tests but still has issues in-game, the modder can submit a bug report so you construct a new test that captures the error. In this way, (useful) coverage approaches 100% over time.
Obviously, such bug reports would need to be constrained to the base game + the single mod being tested. But you would still be able to run through the tests with multiple mods enabled to suss out incompatibilities between mods, either as a player or as an author.
Sorry those do sound like modded characters, "Fawn" does not appear in my codebase. So, there are some girls with missing images and I can't seem to find the corresponding file locations (matching their names). I've seen it for Fawn and Fiona, as far as I can tell, they aren't downloadable bar girls, any idea what is going wrong?
I LOVE the sneak past stepdad idea! That could be SUPER fun... lemme think about it.This mod fixes that, although it perhaps goes a bit too far in the other direction:

IMO Bruce at high enough dominance should invite himself over from time to time. And should also be able to start things back up with Alexia. The Bruce-Alexia thing should have something like four states (eg. not started, romance, broke up, Alexia is dominated fuck toy), where it is possible to move between everything other than not-started depending on game state.
While we're at it since the author is here and listending, there should be a hard cap on how often the stepdad dominance check comes up when someone comes over. After a certain point, that whole portion of the game becomes unavailable since stepdad always intervenes. If the other guy's dominance comes into play at all, it sure doesn't feel like it.
Or, make it fun and be able to sneak past stepdad. Have a high chance of stepdad finding out, kicking the other guy out and perhaps even taking his place at *any* point of the proceedings.
Oh, and Bruce's "counter-rules" would be more fun if they were random instead of linear. Or make the nature of the rule random, but have the magnitude of the penalty grow with every rule the player imposes.
The game becomes janky with mods because the mods you're installing are janky. There is no way around this. I do not think asking Aphrodite to spend time working on other peoples' side projects is a good idea or a good use of her time. If you want Dredding Intimacy or whatever to work cleanly then you need to fix it yourself. The mod authors are not going to write unit tests - most of them do not test much at all - and very few of them put in the time to keep up with changes to the base game because it's just a side project and not their job.If you install even a small number of mods, the game becomes way more jank.
But there's a one thing you could do to make modding infinitely less jank l1lym, which is to create a verification process.
I wasn't thinking about performance. I guess that the "extra loops" could have performance implications, but that's not the reason to want better guardrails, it's because those situations are at best jank and at worst screw up your character so that you need to reload. The performance problems will be resolved
I suspect I wasn't very clear in communicating what I'm envisioning.Regarding the suggestion about test coverage, I'm afraid that sort of framework would scare away modders. Many of them are first time coders like myself. I originally wrote the game just for myself to play and that's why from the ground up it is held together with shoestring and bubblegum.
Nice.I LOVE the sneak past stepdad idea! That could be SUPER fun... lemme think about it.
Firefox, will try to test using Opera later. Didn't played a lot, so can't say for sure, but looks like game slow down when mini games possible on screen in sex scenes.I'll take a look at that. What browser are you on?
Ah damn, that makes a lot of sense lol. I did the hacking but thought the party was just gonna be a forced sub/humiliation sort of thing and wasn't super interested in that.Well you have to go part way through the Bruce scene, hack the New-U, follow him to the party, but reject him there and leave with a demotion, no sex.
Yeah, we have now confirmed that (at least the latest version of) Firefox is causing slowdowns. Will try to resolve it.Firefox, will try to test using Opera later. Didn't played a lot, so can't say for sure, but looks like game slow down when mini games possible on screen in sex scenes.
I actually think adding an "extra hard" difficulty might be good?I've been wanting to improve the WASD minigame for a long time... it's way too straightforward. And you're right, it's weird that the player has to manually wait for the bar to drop to then keep building it up. Trying to think about ways to improve the game so that skilled players are more rewarded.
Suggestions would be helpful. Especially if its the type of difficulty that comes with strategy, and is a "fun" sort of difficulty.I actually think adding an "extra hard" difficulty might be good?
First time I played this, I wasn't good at the minigames yet, so I often mucked up and failed (which is good! Failure leads to sexy situations). But as I figured out how they worked, I tended to succeed more, and also just roll skill checks rather than minigame. I think it would be good to be able to choose to ramp up the difficulty further, once you've gotten practiced.
I also think it'd help an "extra hard" difficulty if you couldn't skip minigames (it's tempting to roll that 90% chance on a minigame you're not as good on).
That said, it is tricky with some of the games to figure out how to make them harder (other than just making you have to survive longer, fill a bigger bar, etc). Would suggestions be helpful/appreciated? I can try to come up with some if so...
Firefox just make it more noticeable, game slow down when you make a lot actions in sex scenes. Maybe you keep tracks of all passages and flush it after whole scene finished?Yeah, we have now confirmed that (at least the latest version of) Firefox is causing slowdowns. Will try to resolve it.
