I remember people talking about finite state machine (and was like ), and that nearly 20 years old paper about F.E.A.R* helped me greatly (at least to conceptualize). I'm not a huge fan of Blender for various reasons. Most of them being opportunity costs from different softwares. That said I never gave up, it's one of the most fantastic software out there. To keep thing fresh I like to open that pdf (any page really) when I'm bored and find new stupid ideas (I have many as you should expect)

While I am a complete buffon with Unity, I have my way with HDRP and it's not really difficult. But performance wise. Yeah... I keep that one on the table, I still need to go into it. UnityPerformanceTuningBible_EN.pdf

It's baked within Blender (with g9 mesh using a g8 clone morph & g8 mesh using an UV atlas) on a single 8k texture then sliced in four 4k textures. It used to be super tedious without UDIM support (something 2.7 I think?), had to give another shot. It's way more reasonable now.

The one & only . Maps details wise, it's top notch baking (from what Daz can generally provide); but also make a very clever use of UberShader's Top coat. Should pay close attention to it imho :
