Youtube AI Age Guessing Nonsense

This will not really even protect kids. If the AI gets it wrong, and a kid is under 18, the kid will do nothing to correct YouTube's misconception, and may not even have an ID to do so anyway. This is madness! This is not about kids. It's about authoritarian control, as you can see in the stories popping up. Parental controls have been a thing for years. They worked well for the most part. Yet they are not even mentioned most of the time in the discourse around these authoritarian proposals. This is global gaslighting.

Google already has to much of my information im 100% not giving them my id or creditcard XD

and yeah you're right almost everything has parental controls the device they are using, to the browsers they use and even most websites. It's honestly not surprising though the average person is an idiot and governments use that to their advantage all the time to seize control over the population. The internet was always gonna be a target it's why the most oppressive regimes have already done that, it's just taken western ones alittle longer to convince the population that it's in their best interest.

I genuinely feel like I'm taking crazy pills seeing people use AI for shit as serious as data management. I can only see these kinds of moves as deliberately sabotaging their own government and influence. With any luck the AIs that manage this glitch out and delete everything because it 'got scared', something which happened to a company's database recently. It was pretty hilarious.

Now I'm curious. How do I look if YT AI got my age right? I listened to my usual vids without issues.
It's happening in the middle of August. It hasn't rolled out yet but it will soon. I don't know what interface they have for displaying how old they think you are.

That's it, exactly. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills lately with all this stuff too. AI here, AI there, AI all over the place. Everyone knows most of this technology still hallucinates, really badly. Yet they still use it for very serious applications, WTF?!

EDIT: Sorry for the double post. I'm a little upset by all this, as you can tell.

It's the beginnings of the end of YouTube. It's got too much free speech on it anyone. Regardless of the AI they put on it Google sees where this is going with the governments around the world.

It's never about saving the children but it is about blocking content you don't want and controlling your population. Google knows they got too much junk on their site and will be among the first to go. They are doing this to try to lockstep with the current events so when the censorship parade comes to shut them down globally they can try to plead they played ball with everyone.

YouTube's days are numbered unlesss they also start moderating content thousands of times more strictly, and it's not the yoga videos they don't like, it's political commentary, videos criticizing government activities, bad opinions, riot coverage covering the wrong riots, etc.

I would be surprised if 5 years from now youtube is more than just a memory and a broken app lingering on phones.

We must fight back against these policies and this legislation. They tried to take advantage of this sort of stuff during COVID, now that didn't really work, so they're trying again with this "kids" manufactured excuse.

Admittedly they have a good platform that politicians will have a hard time defending.

Killing freedom under the guise of stopping porn access to children and a litany of horrible video game themes is a great way to usher in a policy nobody can take a stand against except YouTube personalities.

But the thing is that isn't working. The conversation has changed within the span of a week already. Most people agree shielding kids from porn is a good thing but a sweeping online surveillance state doesn't accomplish that. They already threw the " if you don't want this you're a pedo" out literally a day after it was signed and everybody rightfully flipped them off.

And that's why I think there's a chance the US folks may get involved. Right now they don't want to touch It yet because it's still tainted with porn.

But the UK turned the dial to 11 immediately and forgot about saving the kids and went for the content they didn't like in the public space, and forced companies to bow to their censorship regulations.

They have to be able to separate the "censorship bad" from the "oh so you support porn for minors you evil person!" Concept so they can defend it. I don't think I've heard a peep about this firestorm from any of our politicians yet. They are weak at the end of the day.

They are. It sucks how puritanical so many of them still are. It's completely hypocritical.

Oh man... I remember when you didn't need to use terms like "Unaliving" "Game Over-ing" "Sewersliding" "Restarted". Now you can't even say a goddamn word without someone screaming "That shit offends me!".

Why is it that a lot of people feel like they are being personally targeted by something some random person online said?

The horribly scary fact is that, somehow, these people managed to get attention and power, so now we sit here, with changes no one needed, using so many slang and algorythm-friendly words that we may as well be fucking talking in a new language. Because kids need to be safe online, because they live alone... without supervision... raised by a screen... and not a single soul cares to explain anything or use passwords or parental block.

I feel like kids will grow up into adults thinking babies come from kissing at night on a bed, "restarted" being the proper term, and extreme violence being Tom and Jerry.

Its really funny to me that people can use Garry's Mod photos to circumvent these things already. We are at the stage of government collapse where kids are memeing how it doesn't even work.

The problem with those shit words is they MEAN the same thing, but for some reason are allowed... they are not banning the intent behind them just the words themselves as a giant ass covering exercise "see we filtered it! All they did was say an individual was restarted and no one would miss them if they unalived themselves in minecraft, so clearly everything on our platform is above board!".

If they ACTUALLY gave a shit they would allow the words and ban the users misusing them (including substitute words). But that would take a small amount of effort... honestly sick of this stuff. Profits over people every, fucking, time (while larping as being the other way around).

I remember in one game I typed Japanese to my friend and got a language warning because it had 'Jap' in it, and that's racists... honestly games are trying to make coms so bad people use a third party method to talk and then its not their issue anymore, and those third parties are doing the shit as above.
