The game is fun and has a lot of promise for the future.
The gunplay, while a little silly with being able to change weapon caliber on the fly from 5.56 to 12-G, still feels good. Going around the map and seeing someone far off and switching out the red dot on your gun to a scope to blow their brains out never gets old.
I would like to review the cybernetics system too, but I didn't quite care enough to understand and experiment with it past the video tutorials. Ideally in a future version a small in game tutorial for the cybernetics would be added in the hideout.
The character customization is appealing and provides many options as to what you can change.
From what I played the adaptive difficulty is well implemented, but I fear it could get out of hand into pushing the player into an overly cautious and defensive play style if they keep winning.
My problems with the game start with the fact that there's only 1 trader and it's close to the player's hideout, thus not incentivizing the player to go out and explore (next version this should not be a problem as there will be more areas and hopefully more traders and points of interest to go to)
Another problem with this game is simply the sheer quantity of enemies (not the tentacles). If I want access to the workbench on the other side of the road from the hideout, I have to clear out like 20+ enemies lest I risk getting shot while at the workbench.
Simply reducing the number of enemies at each location, and having a few squads of 3-4 patrolling around the map would be a better system.
And lastly my biggest problem with the game as it currently stands is the inventory system. To be quite honest it sucks, I can't visually tell what a gun has without equipping it nor does it's name tell me what it has. Items don't have unique icons, meaning to find any particular item I need to read out what it's name is. And most importantly, all the consumable/usable items have no way to bind them to a key (at least that I've found) by the time I can afford to stop to take the painkillers I've already had to kill whoever made me use them in the first place.
Also my character never bled out or had any other health complications other than being pregnant. I feel like the med kits don't really matter, but perhaps I simply didn't get shot enough.
Overview: Really good demo of a game (not to belittle the dev) but it needs more work put into expanding the map, splitting up clusters of enemies, and having a more practical inventory system.
