It’s difficult because, and this is rarely discussed, the MC has little personality outside of drinking and fucking. Bella has shown an appreciation for his music with him learning her favourite song. What else is there for her to bond with him over?
This is the limit of this type of narration, more focused on the action than on the memory. The little we know of the main character is told through short scenes around his parents and Zoey. But apart from that, what are his motivations? How does he see the future for himself and others?

All these existential questions, inherent to this period of life when one builds himself alone for the first time, are evaded perhaps to better let the players appropriate his personality; perhaps because Dr PinkCake doesn't know how to deal with this complex subject. The only introspection of our hero is exclusively turned towards the love interests.

Seizing the day without being afraid of tomorrow (Carpe Diem), doesn't exempt from being inspired by the past, nor from looking to the future. Without even mentioning marriage, living as a couple is already a decisive step for someone who has never known his mother and whose father has never remarried. However, I still hope that the creator of the game will start talking about it once we are dedicated to a love interest.

After these answers you can get some juicy tidbits...
The development times are not going to go down anymore... We are getting closer and closer to the dreaded one update per year.
He is not going to hire anyone, ever, ever, for any game he makes.
DPC reads Dalli and says Dalli is right. :p
There are many answers that give good info, others that just dodge the question gracefully and others designed to mislead... I liked it overall.
This game is going to finish around 2042. Sad Face

From DPCs QandA...
"I hear player theories contrary to my plans every day. Some make me go, "how the hell did you even think of that?", and others make me go, "that's another way of looking at it".

Thank goodness. That means, Jill as an active shooter, isn't totally, impossible. :p

I must live in a different reality from most people, I never really thought of the age gap as a huge issue. Someone very close to me is dating a person 15 years older. I personally am currently dating someone 6 years older than me, and to be honest I can't really picture myself dating people my age in the foreseeable future, her maturity, experience and openness is such a breath of fresh air. Sure, in the beginning some of your friends and family might give you and her some weird looks and comments, but in the end if those people really care about you, they'll just be happy that you're happy.

So with Bella I don't really see the age gap being such a huge problem, it's more of an opportunity for MC to grow up. The real issues will be the marriage, the teacher/student thing, and most important of all, if Bella and/or MC really love each other or not, because if one ends up with feelings that the other cannot reciprocate it'll just completely destroy their relationship.
As things stand at the moment I don't really see Bella's actions towards MC as him being just the "rebound guy", the way she's acting, specially from EP7 onward it really looks like she's falling for him, but I guess we'll only be sure if/when James returns and we find about whatever trauma she has.

20 years of age difference, when you have 20 are many, many

then in the game you don't feel it because if MC is 19 or 25 what does it change? the story you're collecting doesn't have this time horizon for which it could become a problem.

If in the game we were offered $100 right away or a million in 5 years we would take the 100 right away, the future does not interest us.

those are all defensive responses, and that's fine, but there is very little of interest there

an author who says he is not influenced in his choices is lying, even if he thinks he is telling the truth

this uncertainty about the number of chapters always leaves me quite baffled, not even on the third season it is certain that there will be 4 chapters...

Yeah... It's all a matter of perspective really. I've learned to anticipate the future, but mostly enjoy the present, sure you may think about how when you reach 40, she'll be 60 and that might give you some pause, but is that really the most important thing to consider? I personally would think about how I really feel about that person, and if I really do love her, that there might be the chance that I never find someone like that again, and instead of spending 10, 20, 30 years being happy with that person, I'll be looking for another one more "age appropriate" and that person might never really come into my life.

I don't know... just some food for thought. And like DPC just said in the Q&A, MC is really several people at once, so I think all possibilites are still in the open, I can totally picture MC being more of a "normal, still trying to figure it out" teenager in some of the endings and a mature adult who knows what he wants in life in others.

Ahh an optimist!
Hopeful, is a better word :). I don't think I will live long enough. even 2030 seems unlikely, but hey in the end of the day it's the journey that matter:cool:.

But honestly, while , i myself not being a creator in any mean. Episode 8 did felt like halfway. Branching path for the girls, etc.
adding with the fact he already working 3 years now on the same project, and if one episode per year, it could last till 2030. More than 10 years on the same project..... that is too much for anyone.

To my great happiness, I discovered the world of China Mieville and spend all my free time reading his books.
Therefore, DPC has receded into the background :KEK:

I think I'll cancel my subscription. One update a year is a delusion and a diagnosis. But apparently that's how it's going to be. I hope he doesn't die before he finishes the job.

The fact that he says that he is a creator and does not want to rush so as not to break the narrative is of course correct, but this is getting worse every year. We can reach the point where one update can take even a year and a half, lol. All this will bite him in the ass someday.

To me it seems interesting, since the fact of choosing which ones to answer and which ones not to answer gives a subtext. It leaves a lot to speculation.
And yes, I agree with you that although he says he is not influenced by the feedback, it seems to me that it does influence him in what he does to continue the story. Even so, I believe him that some things are written in stone.... the whole story of Maya and Josy should have been discarded or modified or resolved by now, if he took half the world's complaints.

it is not a subjective issue

such a large age difference is a problem, this does not mean that it cannot be overcome. it is not a closed door but a problem that in reality would be valid.

very few 20 year olds would give up sex with Bella because of the age difference, but far fewer would think of her for a lasting relationship. Bella herself initially didn't believe it at all and thought it was just sex.

also the social difference between Jill and Mc is a problem, it is objectively, then they can overcome it and live happily ever after

years ago, and not even that many, even being of different ethnicities was a real problem to a relationship

on this point according to me the operation is not so successful

MC is identical to himself, whatever he chooses to do

if he is Chick he would give his money to Maya if he is Dik he would give it to Quinn, same blind and altruistic reaction

I would say that the biggest problem with an eleven year development of an episodic Patreon game is that it would be in danger of loosing it's relevance. It will be interesting to see how many people stay the course if it does go that long.
