Under the new terms the 'restaurant' and early scenes with Maya in Being a Dik count as non-con, how long until DPC is kicked off the platform?
It's not that hard to understand:Just compare what the current version and that archive snapshot from September last year have to say about consent. On the topic of drawn/animated stuff, the old version has this: "We also do not allow other fringe sexual fetish creations, such as incest, necrophilia, or fetish creations that are hard to distinguish from non-consensual sex." ...and, that's it.
Meanwhile, the new version has this:
ConsentThe new guidelines make demonstrable consent an explicit requirement in any 18+ work. That puts the bar much higher than "we don't permit fetish creations that are hard to distinguish from non-consensual sex".It is paramount that Adult/18+ creators demonstrate consent in all works (real or animated; photo, video, written, audio) between adult participants or characters; specifically, a freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of consent by a statement or by a clear affirmative action. Additionally, participants and characters must be able to give consent (i.e. not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, hypnosis, blackmail). “Consensual non-consent” works, in which participants or characters engage in simulated non-consensual encounters, are not permitted. Accompanying a work that features a non-consensual encounter with a statement claiming that the encounter was consensual is a violation of Patreon guidelines.
whoa whoa whoa there's a world of difference between porn games and prostitution. While I get what you're saying in that both have problems being in a "grey area", the production of porn games involves zero impact (other than daz frustrations ) on the creator's body and mental state.A major issue here is the complete lack of regulation regarding Adult work of all kinds, requiring companies to do it themselves (this means, for example, that porn actors can be denied bank accounts on the basis that their work breaks some vague morality rule).
In a world in which sex work (I include the creation of AVNs in this category) had the same legal protections as other work, alongside proper unionisation, companies wouldn't be able to (but also wouldn't need to) police this themselves, they could simply say yay or nay to adult content as a whole and only remove content that breaks the law when the legal system requires them to do so
Someone in the dev forums posited the theory that the Westy situation in Australia put the scare on them. Sounds plausible to me.I think that what Patreon is doing is cleaning the house to create a chill effect on the creators on the platform.
I disagree with this. They just clarified a lot of their guidelines regarding 18+ content. Why would they do that if they were planning to get rid of it? Besides, while they could survive without 18+ content, they would be losing a ton of money in doing so.It is abundantly clear that Patreon wants to slowly remove all porn content on their platform so is recommended to change to another one.
I got my substar approved in two days. Granted, I have an existing patreon and discord server, but still. You basically just need to prove that you're "serious" with stuff like social media. The catch? the only other one is Subscribe Start which is shit. You will never get your creator account approved unless you are SUPER lucky.
This is true, if you are going for kinks that patreon doesn't approve of. If your game is "vanilla" than patreon is absolutey the BEST place to make money, barring steam. So . . . I would recommend searching for another source of income because Patreon is not viable to get money.
Strange, no?A good example is mind control sex, which is basically sex against one's will and is therefore rape and thus categorized as such. Many people seem to be not aware of this.
Depends. When will/did someone report them to Patreon and are the scenes actually non-con (or indistinguishable) because I have not played either?Under the new terms the 'restaurant' and early scenes with Maya in Being a Dik count as non-con, how long until DPC is kicked off the platform?
I still remember the big Tumblr purge that killed the whole site.I disagree with this. They just clarified a lot of their guidelines regarding 18+ content. The main problem with social media is that the core one is Twitter and that is a shit hole. Mostly with Patreon, you can say "Hey I can make you money" but if your game doesn't have a Patreon because it cannot get posted there you are fucked. I actually thought of one tactic which is getting Patreon, then Subscribe Start approved and then adding stuff like non-con to get your Patreon banned but your Subscribe star approved.I got my substar approved in two days. I just used social media as an example, though I don't think you need many twitter posts for it to help. If I remember right, one dev didn't even have any posts at all. I've also heard linking your F95 game thread is useful. Still a toss up, but there are avenues someone could use.The main problem with social media is that the core one is Twitter and that is a shit hole. I suppose that having a meaty F95 thread and a huge discord could help you in those cases. Taking into consideration what some people say:I just used social media as an example, though I don't think you need many twitter posts for it to help. My guess is that they just want to be sure you're serious about it, so that they aren't wasting resources on rando accounts that never post anything. Could be wrong, but I don't see many other reasons why they're so strict.I suppose that having a meaty F95 thread and a huge discord could help you in those cases. It seems to be mostly you showing that you can create some money is the best way to get it. Still kinda shit that you need to be guessing what you need to do. Lots of Twitter followers don't help with that.
I'm thinking of the scenes in which Maya, under duress, has to attempt to seduce the MC prior to him being tazed. I'm then thinking of the lap dance in which MC is "forced" to "endure" grinding and even fucking by Quinn. Furthermore, I'm thinking of the way in which several of the HOTS are pimped out by Quinn, culminating in the redhead (Mona?) quitting college rather than fuck a teacherDepends.
