I'm interested in creating a game for this site, one I believe will be entertaining at the very least, but I lack the skills temporarily to accomplish this feat. I've read quite a bit in here, been searching a lot of things. One issue I have is in the area of touch up, people claiming to be using Photoshop to accomplish this. But when investigating Photoshop, Adobe doesn't want to sell it to you, they want to rent it to you. I can't afford a monthly fee. Is there another software comparable to Photoshop which can be purchased to accomplish the same thing?

I'm also looking at character creation using Daz Studio and Blender. Which would be easier to create a character from scratch in? And would it be easier to export from Daz into Blender or from Blender into Daz?

Genitalia is another problem. One reason some developers have used Photoshop from what I've read, is to create the missing skin texture not provided unless you purchase the Pro Bundle from Daz. What if I were to create a character using Daz's base model included with the downloaded Daz program and modified it using a software similar to Photoshop to add the texturing required for the anatomical parts?

I have not bought anything from Daz Studio as of yet, but when I finally do, can you download models, assets, etc to an external hard drive first so that you always have a copy on hand in the event of a major system failure. I'd hate to purchase something and then not have a copy available to reinstall later if I have to do a system recovery. The other reason for delaying is that I'm waiting on a new system to arrive, the system I am currently using isn't good enough to handle Daz, it crashed when you try to render; not enough video memory I believe.

I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future, but for now, thanks in advance for any information anyone is willing to share.

And as Always, Best to All Who Venture Here.

Youtube channel started me off on the right foot for Daz.

I made my own VN with Paint.NET, XN Convert, and minor PS use. Besides abusing the hell out of the clone stamp tool, I mainly used PS's Camera Raw feature to adjust colors and exposure. Some also use PS to denoise renders without using Daz's built in one. I'm sure all those features are available in different software. Be forewarned, some texture assets in the Daz store are setup to use PS layers (usually makeup or eyebrows), I have no idea about other software compatibility for those items.

I'm also looking at character creation using Daz Studio and Blender. Which would be easier to create a character from scratch in? And would it be easier to export from Daz into Blender or from Blender into Daz?
I don't have any experience in blender but in Daz it is fairly easy. Basically adjusting sliders until you get the look you want. There are even some randomizer scripts, but I find those useful mainly for background characters. Zev0's suite of products is a great start. The skin builder (only for females) essentially makes PS changes to skin textures almost irrelevant.

There are 4 major genitalia options I'm aware of: Daz's own genitals for which there are multiple (necessary IMO) enhancements that 3rd parties sell, Laudanum's Cock-O-Rama, DB XXX's XY and XXY, and Meipe's Dicktator, Futalicious, and Golden Palace. The only one I haven't experimented with is Daz's, the others each have their own quirks. All either come with or have a separate add-on that has a lot of skin textures for popular characters, but there are ways of altering a texture within Daz to blend it for a non-supported character.

Golden Palace is the... well gold standard for vaginas on male or female G8 models. You really can't go wrong by picking it and I recommend Storming The Palace as well to aid in posing for penetration scenes. Let's move on to penises as there is more distinctions to be had.

XY and XXY, with HDM and Easy Control add-ons, are very high quality and pretty straightforward to apply. One downside is lack of shaping options, but if you don't care that all of your characters have the same dick shape with only different colors then pick this. While comparatively limited, it is the simplest to add to a character and use with minimal time spent.

Cock-O-Rama is more suited for animal/monster cocks, but does have great options for humans. The main benefit is the cock is a separate model which allows for a ton of options. Want to do lots of POV scenes? You don't need to load the MC's character model, just their cock. One downside is there are no pubic hair assets whatsoever that support it and I find the quality to be a little shy of the other's.

Meipe's suite of products is equivalent to diving headfirst into the deep end. These products span everything, from breasts, to asses, to tongues, and more. Practically infinite variety is available with the extensive add-ons for textures and dforce deformation. The amount of options will be daunting to sort through, but affords you practically custom tailored genitalia. If you peruse the development thread for my VN, you will see pictures of various genitalia made with Meipe products. And, if you play it, there are over 300 images where the nudity is crafted almost exclusively with with these products (including textures). Despite the difficulties I noted in the dev thread, the results speak for themselves and I consider it money well spent.

I have not bought anything from Daz Studio as of yet, but when I finally do, can you download models, assets, etc to an external hard drive first so that you always have a copy on hand in the event of a major system failure. Remember, you don't have to get Michael and Victoria 8 if you aren't going to be using Daz Genitals. Even with a lot of stuff designed for them, usually it will work fine for G8 as well. You can end up buying stuff you didn't need if you aren't careful, so I suggest you pop over to Asset Releases and try each one out before you buy.

As for installing and file management, DAZ itself is only around a 1GB so pick whatever drive you want and make sure the Install Manager is following the install path you chose. Start by installing one thing, verify it is where you want, then install the rest. The files you save (usually scenes) are pretty small in size so most of the space used will be the installed 3d assets.

I can't post links yet but there is a good tutorial on youtube, search 'How to create a custom daz character' by Renderhub 3D which is a great look at the whole process including sculpting a custom morph in blender if that's something you wish to do.

Don't try to make a character from scratch in Blender, not unless you know how to rig and even then it can be a nightmare unless you have some real skills. Daz is quick and easy leaving you with more time to develop the game, it's also far harder to fuck up. The only upside to Blender is that the character will be more unique compared to other games on this site.

Thanks for the input. I understand what you're saying. I'm thinking of using the Daz base character to start with and modify it in Blender. The biggest reason for Blender is creating the scenes (the stage dressing...I have a very specific environment in mind for a few scenes and they simply don't exist in Daz from what I've seen), but also from what I've seen in here (or I should say "lack there of") it's the animation I'm really after. The goal is to animate an entire scene (the lewd portion). The best I can do as far as a game engine and my ability to code is concerned, the answer is Ren'Py. I don't mind the stagnant scenes in Ren'Py, but when it comes to animation, watching someone's ass move up and down just falls short for me. If I ever accomplish what I have in my head, people in here are going to go "Holy shit look what this guy did!!!" What I'm trying to accomplish is a big goal, I just hope I can do it. I'm stuck for the moment because my computer can't even deal with Daz, it crashes when I click on the render tab, and the only info I get from the dump file is that it doesn't have enough memory. I'm assuming it's referring to the video card, because I exceed the minimum requirements for RAM. So I've been forced into buying a new system. When it finally arrives it's going to be time to play and learn. And learning is all I've been doing at present watching videos in YouTube and searching the net for whatever I can find about Daz and Blender. There is a lot of information out there if you are willing to dig. The one thing I have learned in all of this is that there are a lot of people out there who are more than happy to show you just enough to get you to open your wallet and pay for their tutorials on their website. LMAO!!! Can't afford the lessons, especially now that I bought this new system.

Thanks for the reply.

Take care.

Creating environments in blender is alright, there's not much that can go wrong during that process and it's easily fixable if it does happen, characters are a whole different issue though, you'll need to know what you're doing. Importing a Daz character into Blender for changes isn't a bad idea, it'll save you money for having to buy shit from Daz store and make your character a bit more unique, this is still time consuming though.

If you're animating then using Blender is almost a must, you're never going to be able to get what you want out of Daz. I'd advise caution when it comes to animation though, it's INCREDIBLY time consuming, especially if you're new to it, there is a reason why very few people even do the simple "ass up and down" animation. I get that you want to blow peoples socks off, but animating an entire lewd scene is going to take you an age, so I have to ask, how far do you intend to go with this? If you're thinking something along the lines of an actual porn scene where it shows them kissing, walking over to the bed, getting undressed, girl getting on her knees, pulling out his dick, then sucking, then stopping, then lying down for sex, then having sex, then flipping over for doggy style, then doing doggy style etc, etc, I would strongly advise you to reconsider because your game will never come out, it just takes too long
If you're set on animation then I'd advise doing it similar to how Being a Dik does it, with short looping animation for each sex pose. Cut out all the filler like her walking to the bed or her flipping over for doggy style, and just have camera cuts to the specific sex poses, add some nice details to make it stand out like tits bouncing, tongue action, etc and you'll impress a lot of people.

For why Daz is crashing on render, it's probably your graphics card. Daz is made to work with Nvidia, even if you have a high end Radeon or whatever Nvidia is what Daz wants you to use. That said, rendering with Blender is better anyway.

Not taking it to the extreme you are referring to, but an involved scene...just have to see how far I get. Yeah, in Blender I can render, but this computer won't let me get to high on the quality. This system really bogs down.
