That's what I said many post ago that the devs definitely know that Evil personality is popular in AA series and they really wanted to implemented it in Samabake. Unfortunately they don't have the guts to REALLY ship the code containing real violence/stabby-stabby/punching etc. So they have to take it all down and only spare the music and some toned-down threat voice.

OR, the devs really have all the dark things ready to ship but at the very last minute some higher-ups forced them to take them down because they're afraid of getting another backlash (Rapelay incident years ago) so big that they had to memory-holed the game and block the entire world to access their site, and considering that Illgames is a new company (and seemingly wanted to appeal to the international market) they decided to play it safe.
i highly doubt them adding a killing option is enough for that to happen

Well there's enough mentally ill mobs on X and other socmed to create a big fuss out of nothing. There's many JP artist harassed out of X by the mob. Pixiv and other are also forced to self-censor to appease them.
And Illgames certainly have traumatized by that because when the controversy happened it, it happened in massive scale. Many big western media attacked Rapelay and Illusion, even going as far as government level to condemn that game. It's a massively coordinated attack.

There's many game (at that time) that reflect the dark side of society in Japan, but only Rapelay has gotten the backlash. Illusion is practically being the sole soft target to attack Japanese games. It's easy for western mob to fuck JP games because JP people tend to meek in reply to avoid controversy.

Nothing good can come of that... ever
Yeah but that's the reality we're in right now. Practically all of big JP game developer had to have DEI division on their team to appease the mentally ill mob. And while smaller devs don't have it, they had to self-censor themselves to be able to sell their games in western marketplace. DLsite is much more international-friendly right now, but still it doesn't have the reach that Steam have, and I think Illgames want to have that reach, so compromise had to be made...

how I'm i "pro-censorship" that's not how censorship works if a company decides not to make a certain kind of product that isn't censorship
>hey company, your products offend me, change them or else
>ok, just leave us alone
>this is not a censorship by the way

I feel like it's infinitely more likely they removed fighting because it doesn't fit the setting in the same way it did in AA2. Like the characters seem like they're meant to be more college aged rather than high school students so them getting into outright fights doesn't really work as they'd be getting arrested.

You realize how silly it is to say this when you have absolutely 0 evidence for this being the case other than the fact that it would reinforce your worldview it was true. Hell we still don't have any evidence the game is getting an international release at all.

I must've missed that when it was announced, regardless it's still really silly to think they removed fighting because they were worried western audiences wouldn't buy the game.
They didn't worried if the western audience won't buy the game, they worried if the game will attract controversies and put them in very bad spot just like Rapelay years ago. Remember that Illusion still goes to Steam after all of it, but they only sell the lovey dovey title and keep all of the darker themed games for JP market only, DESPITE the popularity of it.

Games they keep:
1. AA series (they KNEW AA series is popular in the west and have big, vibrant mod community, despite the game is only sold in JP market).
2. Premium Play series (Premium Play, PP Darkness and Play Club) the "spiritual successor" of Biko and Rapelay.
All of that game is still have great graphics and play flawlessly when they enter Steam at 2018.

And when they enter Steam, ALL of their new games is lovey dovey games (Koikatsu series, AI Shoujo, VR Kanojo, HS2 Libido and Room Girls) that void of any dark themes.

How did we know that Illusion knew that their games is popular in the west? The very famous "Dear customers in foreign countries" welcome page of their homepage LOL (the first for a hentai game company doing that, followed closely then by many hentai game company afterward). They still keep that page and blocking foreign IP address even AFTER they sell their games in Steam. Why? Because they STILL sell their dark-themed games in Getchu and DMM and they don't want the western mob prying eyes looking at any of it.

So yeah they never worried about the sales but more afraid of the controversy shall it arise if they included more darker themes. But we knew they really mulled on adding it on Samabake because they still included the Evil personality and the eerie BGM.

I thought Play Club, PlayHome and Real Play were the “spiritual successors” to Biko and RapeLay

I'm worried that there isn't a mod that properly uncensors the penis yet.. the blowjob animation is still weird with the HF patch..
