My thoughts about the game. Having both male/female perspective is a cool idea, but player characters dating each other feels like self-masturbation. And mc seems like a cucklord: loses erection, can't cum, has small dick, comments how muscular other guy is. I personally didn't enjoy playing Lena, feels exactly same as GGGB. Sex scenes didn't improve, 2 pictures traced from real porn. Will keep playing for Holly and Cindy content
I interpreted his performance problems and inability to finish to be a sign that he either isn't fully over his ex yet or that he isn't looking for casual sex encounters but rather a real relationship. YMMV!

Cherry managed to make him cum from a blow job, so I think he is OK with casual sex.
I was thinking maybe part of his performance problems were to do with his ex and their breakup (we do not actually know why she cheated and what sort of person she was)

Makings of an epic game. Hopefully Eva can build the characters up way further than in GGGB. Love to see where things go with Holly, Ian's boss, Lena's bosses (something definitely going on there with those two??). Ian definitely has a cuckold feel about him, but it will be interesting to see who he ends up with? I hope Eva chucks in a few more fetishes this time, unlike GGGB..definitely would like to see some of these women smoking for example, lol. Other than than, looking forward to more.

Agreed, I wish Eva takes her time with this one exploring different scenarios and paths, even if it takes her 3 years to complete the game. GGGB felt somewhat rushed, especially towards the end, with some storylines either underexplored or dropped halfway into the game (Ashley's Instagram / modeling, the swingers club, Jack's brother). I feel like a lot of ideas were cut as well. In the latter half of the game, it became obvious that sex scenes became the main focus of the game, with barely any meaningful character interaction, turning into your basic smut porn with a very short premise. I also understand the writer's block and exhaustion from doing it too long, so I guess we'll see whether it succeeds where GGGB failed once it's finished.

GGGB also suffers from the fact that it kept trying topping itself, and at a certain point the storylines became so silly it felt almost like playing a parody of itself. And sometimes it still worked, like with Arthur getting all the girls

I hope ORS stays a little more grounded

Not sure what this sentence was supposed to say, but definitely needs a proofread. Does EvaKiss have a proofreader? I'd be more than happy to go through the text before she pops it in the code to catch things like this.
Unknown. She does have a few volunteers helping with that stuff but I have no idea to what extent or how consistently. Chapter 3 was definitely proofread after Alpha's release (most of the text was edited, many sentences rewritten). Considering this scene is in Chapter 2, it was probably overlooked. Mostly she depends on Patrons to report any bugs or typos. I volunteered to be one of the editors (I notice a lot of things while researching the script for the walkthrough), and she just said that any reports are welcome. Not the most efficient way to tackle the problem, in my opinion, but I guess she's used to this development method.

Apparently the proofreader is not particularly good at proofreading :geek:

It was definitely rushed and even the sex scenes were rushed. Compare the later sex scenes with the ones in the beginning and middle of the game. With that said, Eva was probably getting writer's block and maybe even tired of the game itself but despite that it is still one of the best porn games with it's volume of choices imo. I do hope she doesn't get burned out with ORS and that it gets more development than GGGB

Definitely. I do hope that she's able to grow her fanbase and maybe hire another coder, so she could spend more time working on refining the concepts and ideas and the writing itself. It's very hard being Jack of all Trades all the time, juggling everything at once, especially when you hold yourself to the standards so high.

Chapter 4 news
Hello guys,
I haven't posted any news about chapter 4 recently because progress is a bit slow. Chapter's 3 production dragged on a bit and work on Chapter 4 started with a bit of delay, and also it was a bit more difficult to come up with the outline for the plot points and scenes for this one. Don't worry too much though, it might take a bit longer than normal but work is underway: all the art has been completed and I've been tackling the writing these past few days.
Just so you know, this is how the production for one chapter of ORS plays out:
  • First, I have to decide what plot points I'm going to explore in this chapter and I plot out a script with all the scenes ordered by day and character: it's not always easy deciding what scene to add or how to present them in the right order, alternating between Ian and Lena so it makes sense chronologically and narration-wise.
  • Once that's done, I begin creating all the art that will be needed: new characters, outfits, sex scenes... First I do research and pick out the best reference photos to illustrate the scene I have in mind, decide how many illustrations I will use per scene and then proceed to draw them. This takes roughly 40% of the time used to develop a chapter.
  • I have to complete the art first and as soon as possible so the colorist has time to work on it. I also create briefings with reference images and descriptions for the new backgrounds that will be needed for this update and send those to the studio that takes care of that.
  • After that, I can start writing. I need to refresh my memory to be clear on what story threads and variables have been used and developed in the past chapter and start writing the script following the blueprint I plotted out at the beginning. This is the part of the process that takes the most time and it's the most organic: often new scenes develop as I'm writing the story, or characters act in a way I had not entirely foreseen. This is when the real creative process happens, since I have to develop and flesh out the scene and character interactions that were merely sketched out in the first step, and I also have to think how to implement the gameplay mechanics: when to add menus and choices, how to distribute skill points and come up with branching dialogues and scenarios.
  • During the writing the colorist sends back the illustrations and I give a final pass on them, tweaking details, adding light, backgrounds and a final layer of detail and polish. I also art direct the backgrounds in case they need any changes or modifications. I'm also working with a composer with the OST for the game.
  • Once the writing and coding is completed I check out that images show properly, that the game is playable, etc. This happens at the deadline, so I don't have much time to bug-test the game extensively. I have a couple people helping me test it internally, and I try to make sure the update had no game-breaking bugs before publishing the Alpha. This often is hard to assure, since there are numerous branching paths to check out, and at this point I'm so eager to publish the update and share it with you guys as soon as possible.
  • Once the Alpha is released, I send the script to my awesome proofreader and wait for new bug reports. I wait until the script is sent back to me to add the fixes to the proofread version. While this happens I'm already trying to figure out the plot and scene outline for the next chapter.
  • After the Beta is out I wait a few days to see any new bug reports, I fix those and publish the final update. By this point, hopefully I'm already working on the art for the next chapter and the cycle starts all over again.
Right now I'm at the writing part, taking the time I need to deliver some good scenes! I think this chapter will have some memorable moments, and if you chose to work for Mr. Ward you'll be able to enjoy Lena in this sexy lingerie during the photoshoot! I'm trying to make that scene way more interactive than what you saw on GGGB, I hope you have fun with it!
As always, stay tuned!

I'm actually wondering two things:
  • What of the work does Eva like to do least
  • What are the current bottlenecks of work
That could help show what could support her best and let her create what she likes best faster and easier. Hell, if the first part is something I can do, I'm more than happy to do it for free.

I'm sure she'd love that. Maybe it's a matter of budget issues? If my coding was more advanced I'd offer to help for free tbh.

I also suspect it might be the issue of perfectionism and not being able to let go. Or it could be that I'm simply projecting. It's just that sometimes you are more comfortable either working alone or overseeing every little step in every direction. When you work on something of your own and are a perfectionist, you want this something to be of outstanding quality and also to make sure that it matches your vision, etc. It's a problem when you're one person in charge because you feel responsible for everything. Major or even indie game studios have the luxury of having different roles - there's a creative director, a game director, a narrative director, an art director, sound director etc. When you are all of those things - it's a nightmare for a perfectionist. And, paradoxically, it's also a curse that a perfectionist feels the need to be all those things, despite perhaps not being the most efficient this way.
