Hello and good day! I'm having trouble figuring out a few things about Daz3D. Please let me know if there is any Daz3D professional here. I hope this is the right place to start this thread.

I am not sure if there are professionals here (meaning, people doing it primarily as their means of income), but we are quite a few with experience.

I do think you went to the wrong thread, though - you should probably be in https://f95zone.to/forums/general-troubleshooting.16/ but ask away (or send a direct message)... and hopefully a moderator will move this post.

I am starting myself with Daz3D and i find it so exciting.
So understanding the software is really key i think.
So far, works fine. There are some tips i took from some videos.
IT Roy seems a good source to pick up some tips on YouTube.
But i wonder what the best is to do with movements for example on the face. Do it yourself or just use expressions. Originally i thought you can do everything yourself but that seems quite a challenge.
I think i will do some renders first just to see how it comes out and then making scenes. And further down the line make a small game.

I have the currently the challenge that i do not the genitals to work. So i have to find how to do that.
But the other thing i learned through the video was how to place a character. ALT-Left mouse will move the character to were you want. There is so much more i need to learn but i already stumbled over the genitalia. So thats not a good start.

p.s. found my solution. genitalia fix

genitals to work
It depends on what genital asset your using what version it is and if it's compatible with the body your using. Like golden palace. You load a genesis 8 body then using merge select the golden palace V2 vagina and it'll be attached to the body. Next select the golden palace mesh and using merge and select 3-GoldenPalace_Material Copy_v2.dse and this will copy the character mesh texture and add the textures from the crotch area to the golden palace mesh. Next using merge select 2-GP_Labia Majora Shell_v2 and it should render the vagina part.

For the female genitals one you load the genesis 8 character then load the 01 Female Genitals.duf onto the body and then select the female genitals and select the 02 Copy Material.dsa and it'll render and match the body and the vagina will be textured.

Right now i did a test with G8F and with New Gens it worked. It seems a texture problem.
Now i am not sure which model to chose actually. Is Gen 3 better or Gen 8? I think there are still some things that require more knowledge. So its not as easy as to just smash things together. Though i think with Daz its certainly easier.
I can not stress how many times i wanted to just delete everything because i was stuck.
For this test i downloaded a bundle that had everything in side plus the New Gen (this time). That seemed to work.

Thanks for the explanation. I take that to heart. To me that is all very new and need to play with all that for awhile. Its so fascinating.

Is Gen 3 better or Gen 8?
That is subjective depending on who is using them. I have used both but have since converted many of the genesis 3 characters that I have to genesis 8 so that I can now use genesis 8 morphs and other things with them. There is also the new genesis 8.1 body and the only thing that sucks about it is that you can't use genesis 8 body textures with the 8.1 body as the body textures are set up differently. Genesis 8 has a lot of functions that genesis 3 doesn't have like Dforce bodies hairs and outfits.

Thats sounds like a go for 8 then.
I am assuming that 3 has less features, details than 8. I think that settles it then.
Got to say, its actually fun when it works.

I seem to run into some problem with rendering if i want to render a scene with character. Everything is just black.
So i put some lights in the scene but it still did not solve my problem.
Worst, i have an old AMD graphics card. RX480. So the engine i am using (Nvidea) just runs on my cpu.
Without scene it renders fine. So i must have made some mistake with the lightning then.
What engine works best with AMD graphics?
Thanks

Kasami Lee has your questions actually been solved?

Some environments seem to be darker then what they show. Like the ridge walk mountains environment it looks great before trying to render but when you render it the scene is darker and more like it's dark out. You could try deleting the lights out of the scene and seeing if that helps and it seems some skydomes like the one in the ridge walk mountains environment are what causes the dark scene.

I have also found that deleting the roof off of a building can sometimes help with lighting.

I got to check.
So far, i am not happy with the renders. They are ok but not really what i want. On top of that i have an outdated gfx card. So lets fix the lighting issue first. :)
Below my first attempt without scene and no light. Looks pretty dark but at least i got a character. Other problems were the nylons they were always clipping so i had to remove them for now.

I have a rendered image from a game. I just wanted to know what are the settings and stuff (light, transform) to use to get the exact same render. If you can help, please dm me.

There is always light even when you just load a character in. There's one to the right of the character and there's one behind your point of view so that whatever your looking at will have a light shining on it.

Lighting when rendering a barebone scene depends on which direction the character is facing. Default starting position with nothing loaded the light is to the right of the character.

First one is default position.

Second one is with the character rotated to face to the right.

Other things can play into it as well. Like if your using 3dlight or iray textures other things like how the character is laying. The light is above and to the right of the character so areas not facing that way will have shadows just the same way you would in real life. You can add lights and move them to those areas to try to remove the darkness if you want but it'll take some testing and adjusting.

I have a rendered image from a game.
We would have to see the image before we can really help as that will help use in being able to maybe tell what has been used in the image. There are many converted game characters that have been converted to genesis 8 mostly female and some males.

I seem to have some different results.
In the viewport everything seems fine, but when actually rendering it has a different result.
So i tried to have my character selected in the light option and played with lumens to have more light.
Assuming that one spotlight should be enough to light a character from a particular angle, i seem to get a meager result.
The basic render works fine but i think it would probably work better if i had a NVidea gfx card. I am not sure if that has an impact. Its just an assumption really.
I will play around and see what happens. I still have some other issues to solve as well that are not related to light. Mostly clipping issues.
Thanks for sharing

Clipping can depend on a few things. Is it for the genesis body your using - is it dforce - is it a pose causing it - does the body have weird body proportions? Dforce usually forms pretty good to a body and you can make a dforce outfit hang from a character realistically - clothing from genesis 2/3 will not always form well to a genesis 8 body.

Sometimes you can remove minor clipping is to select the clipping piece and clicking on posing and then scale and move the slider a little bit make the outfit piece bigger another way is selecting the clipping outfit piece and in shapes look to see if it has any sliders for the area that's clipping

It seems that (at least i think) an asset may have been the problem with rendering. My last render had the body white. Strange.
Now i am rendering and with an added environment it takes some time. So hopefully i can buy a new gfx card. Perhaps with added GPU power that would speed up the process.

I use the nylon pack called Nylon Stockings and the readme states what to do in case. Well, it works but also not. The clipping from with the collision between dress and nylon i was able to solve. But then it clipped with the body. There is some option (which i did not find) that increases the space between the nylon asset and the body.
The whole DAZ thing reminds me of the Sims. Its in some respect similar. Though Sims is very simple. But how you can create your character and add assets.
So even though i have some problems, overall it works fine. I think these are just noobie issues.
I try staying with G8F assets and this works mostly. I have a couple of assets (hair for example) that seem not to fit. But thats ok. Lot of items to chose from.
Thanks for the exchange.;)

I found out that i was using HD but the character wasn't. So i think that was it because it worked after i changed it.

But there is something else i noticed.
Whenever i add for example an expression and i add several, my character gets white rendered (the skin). I suppose you should remove the expression that was added first perhaps.
Of reload the character from my save, it is back to normal.
