I won't debate what's retarded, but:
- is 100% completed and bug-free
- is a 2015 game from small indie dev
- has full translation (by u-ray whom only 1 guy ponyguy thanks in the thread...)
- has simple, original and colorful battle mechanics
- has very cute, quality art
Ok, it's grindy and repetitive in various ways.
Let's just check if my first point (in italics) would apply to most of the threads in this forum...

I wouldn't call that "bug free" tho...
I mean, in my case, I litherally don't gain any ressources aside from manpower, making the game literally impossible after conquering the north.

Kinda late, but did you use all 3 action point? There should have been a warning if you still had any action points left, saying you'll only gain population (manpower).
Anyways, just played the game again, for the nostalgia, and I really wished they had mentioned how to charge (holding the left click). Would have made the game much easier at the start (did start over when I remembered, and was able to beat them easy, thus allowing me more pop to exchange for wood, thus quicker upgrades).
Some other tips I remember:
0. As mentioned earlier, if you click & hold, you'll charge the unit, giving them some bonuses; if you then move, while still holding, you're able to summon multiples at once.
1. Should save your food, and feed at 50k+; reason is because you get more potential (extra level). It increases by 1 every 25k after 25k, so you get 1 at 50k, 2 at 75k (or was it 3?), etc.
2. You really only need 3 units to beat the game: 1 tank, 1 AoE, and 1 gunner, preferably blue.
-- Don't really need the gunner, but it makes the Oni much easier. Nob too, maybe, but I just slogged through her.
-- I used the priest girl you get at start & that neutral Calvary (spear/lance) girl from that impotent guy.
3. If you clear all the search squares, and extra appears. These contain guest characters, that usually has better stats than most units. They aren't really necessary, and only way to can boost their potential is through food.
Edit: 4. Page 6 had someone asking you how to get more girls.... And as the tutorial indicated, you needa search for them. From what I can tell, most of the search squares give the same items, so you can SS & mark, then load and take what you want; thus skipping a ton of grind.
5. It's better to select the first option, when you're in the baby making screen. Reasons: 1. Gives you more potential. 2. If you cap it (just repeatedly click the confirm button), it's 100%.
6. Perry tip: Use a tank to find out how much shots they can handle (Mind was 2 full rounds of the 7); once you know, just charge your AoE unit, while focusing on one of the corners (preferably right, so you and ougi quicker). The tank won't move, so you should place it as close to center & the cannons as possible. Now keep summoning 1 tank ASAP when the other dies, while your AoE slowly grinds the cannons. Wait for Ougi, or placing a fresh tank before summoning more AoE.
