1TB H-Games - Folder Organization Suggestion?

Hi there,

I have about 1TB of H-Games stored over many years on a drive and I'm reaching out for new ideas to organize them.

My current method is to simply create a folder called New01 and dump games in there. When it becomes too large to scroll through, I create the next folder "New02 " etc. I'm at folder New16 and it's becoming a huge mess. Whenever I wish to recommend a specific game, I have to go through all this mess and it takes a while. I've started organizing them by genre, but I'm not sure if there's a better solution out there.

I'm also very visual, so a way to showcase an image of the main menu or one screenshot of the game helps to remember what the game is. I'm starting to drag and drop thumbnails from the game forum to the folder now.

Is there anyone else that has a better way to organize their game? Any scripts that automatically fetch the thumbnail by linking the folder direct to the site?

Thanks!

Right now I have the main categories that I distinguish games from:

Inside every one I have games sorted by date always so I know what is old and can be deleted since I will just download a new version later.

There is also always another subfolder called _complete where I keep completed games that don't need to be deleted until I actually finish them.

And even deeper, inside _completed sometimes I also have a _groups folder to sort between creators that have multiple completed games like

I find that this is the sweet spot for me, I can always find stuff easy by sorting things by main categories first.

Woah, I love the idea of sorting them by Real, Jap, 3D games! Great idea to sort by Dates too, that will help a ton as there is indeed a lot of various versions that can take years to update. Thanks!

Just to be more specific since I'm using some dumb folder names for myself:
3Dweg - western 3dcg stuff
Flash - flash games
Jap - non-rpg japanese games (mostly vns and interactive 2D stuff)
Real - games made from real porn
Rendered - actual rendered 3D stuff (like illusion games).
RpgWeg - western rpgm stuff
Weg - western 2Dcg and 2D non-rpg stuff
RPG - eastern rpgm games

The main reason I decided to split them this way is because those are the different categories that I usually find myself browsing depeding on my mood.
When I'm in the mood for anime style rpg games I don't need to navigate through western ones and vice versa, so my tip is to find out what are the main categories that you find yourself browsing and then go more specific from there.
