Ren'Py - 30 Year Old Virgin [v0.37.DV] [Black Star Games]

Ver good,humor is enjoyable,characters are hot, visuals are not bad at all to,animation and camerawork are all good,would love to support when im able to. There are chashes,and bugs but im sure it will be polished out in later updates.

I'm glad low rating didn't scare me away from this one.

Story and MC
Game starts very silly. Looser MC with fucked up sisters and ugly familiar. Then he gains powers and is going to(?) save the world. Story is lightened with few sarcasms towards reality and mainstream that sometimes are funny, sometimes cringe, but generally I consider it as good thing and they fit to the light climate of this production. Writing is quite nice, it's a pleasure to read it. Text is simple and with some typos, sometimes you'll just see harmless mistakes like "have'nt" and there are some annoying like "all ready", when it clearly should be "already", but the worst part is that it's downgrading with content progress. I feel that with each event there are more and more typos. There are basically no choices. All you can do is to not push something further. For example, game asks you, if you want to touch leg or is it too much. I think MC being a frightened looser with small intelligence is supposed to be funny as well, but it wasn't, at least not for me. He's not totally dumb, but let's say connecting dots isn't something he can put in CV. However, he can be tricky and sly - especially, if it comes to sex, which creates really hot situations like tasting game. There's some progress and hopefully in future he will man up.

UI and features
First thing that caught my eye was lack of quick save and auto button, luckily it's easily solved with Universal Ren'py Mod. The rest of UI is ok. It's easy to learn and intuitive. Since this game is in sandbox mode you should prepare for a lot of tapping as some locations have few sublocations. It's quite easy to manage and if you like this kind of games, you shouldn't have a problem, but for those who don't - be awared. Hints and quests shouldn't create any issues, if you have some experience with sandbox games. There's obviously a bit of grinding too. You'll need to learn a bit of magic and you can do it only once per day. A lil bit annoying, but in reality you also can't spend whole day, if you want to effectively learn tough subject. Like in most of sandbox games, you'll also need some money. There's easy way of working, you just need to click and there aren't any minigames. However, most of the money you need, you can find via exploration and missions. You'll need to explore a bit for ingredients anyway, but don't worry, you only need to pick them once and they're easy to spot, you don't need to gather 100 moon flowers and 200 carrots for elixir. Also, every item is mentioned in hints, so if you can't find one, just read where it is and if you still can't find it, it's because you may haven't this location yet... or you're blind

LIs and relationships
Beginning was harsh for me, if it comes to LIs. First meeting with sisters and one appear to be dumb as amoeba and second was annyoing brat with a drop of tsundere. But don't get discouraged, they can be sexy in their original way and it creates funny-hot situations. There are also plenty of other LIs with various characters, bodies and races, like demons, cat girls or aliens, which creates a very nice cast. Pacing is different for each LI. You can have some quick scenes, if you know who talk to, but generally it needs several or more events to get some small action. Events usually are grind-like, but with progress. I mean it's one event that looks similar, but text is changed and there's new element added to each scene. For example you start fully clothed watching TV together with LI, next is without shirt, then there are several steps with for example massaging leg and last one is with footjob.

Visuals and audio
Models aren't top notch and I have mixed feelings about them. Some of them are very hot, while others (Lofi for example) are quite creepy. And I understand it, if it comes for LIs from other universes, but some humans also looks weird. Locations aren't extraordinary, but somehow I like them more than in many other games. Home especially is very climatic. Animations are simple and smooth, at least when there are animations at all. Most (I think over 80%) scenes just have "animation" made from two frames, so it's not even a slideshow, but well, better than static image. I don't remember any sounds, nor environmental nor during sex. So, everything you can expect is music, which isn't special and climatic. Just some tracks in background.

Summary
This isn't very good game. It don't have strong story, amazing LIs, special bonding or extraordinary animations, but it has its charm. Sometimes it's funny, some aspects are beautiful and some scenes are really, really hot. For me it's 3,5 now, but with more characters progress and animations it can be a strong 4.

has some of the most tedious drawn out events i have seen in a while with a poor skip for the time cycle.

having to do a event 4 times that you can only do once per day cycle is a horrible way to add "content" to your game.

The game is great for those who really like fantasy and bizarre themes, I rate it high since its creativity is really good and involves a lot of fetishes that you can choose from, hopefully more in the way, a game that will be enjoyed for every player that is bored with same vanilla and harem stuff, you will enjoy this for sure, I really liked the household story and the upcoming pregnancy + lactation features look promising, also there could be ntr scenes in future that we could enjoy. Keep it up dev, your game is awesome and I say it even when I dont fully enjoy fantasy,.

The current rating of the game is too low. It has a lot of contents. Even if it somewhat feels a little outdated in its realization, everything is solid. The navigation can be awkward at times.
Of course, there are the usual problems with this kind of games : if you don't go at the right place with the right items at the right time, the given plot doesn't advance. However, there are about 20 plots to advance, so it's not really a problem. Also, the hint system works.

Hi, I think I downloaded this game the moment it came out because at first glance it looked so cool.
It's been 3 or 4 updates, and it seems like the game has stopped working because there aren't many scenes added.
I think waiting 3 or 4 months for 5 minutes of gameplay is ridiculous.
Anyway, that's just my opinion, but more than one person would like it.
In my opinion, a new game is a waste.

Very nice and easy to progress. It plays with diff kinks, a lot of cute girls and pregnancy was just added. There's bug with random workarounds, if those get cleaned, i'll give the 5 stars. Don't give much credit to the 2 and a half stars rating, there's bad, slow and uninteresting games here with 5 stars already

Test performed on the 0.36. The game is good overall, funny parts, and the graphics are not disgusting. But the only downside, there is unnecessary content, the Halloween section is huge. When we see the content created in this section, it could have been content for stories or to advance certain characters.

This game is better than the ratings suggest. To be fair most of the worst reviews are likely from earlier when there was less content. I almost didn't download it because of those reviews, but I'm glad I did anyway.

Art is good. Girls are cute. Contrary to what others have said I'd guess there is a solid 2 hours of gameplay requiring no grinding. And another few hours that require little grinding. For example you can watch 8 short episodes of about 5 minute length each on the laptop in your room, as well as 4 lewd episodes on TV, none of which require anything but clicking them to experience. (though the lewd tv episodes are only available at night).

The scavenger hunt and summoning is a bit more annoying if you want to explore the magic side of the game, but its honestly worth downloading to have fun with your family and watch the episodes. And then if you want to dive deeper, go for it. If not uninstall before the grind starts after a few hours of fun.

Even at its worst the grind isn't as bad as Big Brother. I could see how people get frustrated if they can't find one missing item or something to move the summoning storyline forward.

Take it for what it is. A decent game with hours of easy to access content with some good faps within. But not a game worth grinding to see everything in unless you're really enjoying yourself.

Tons of content, haven't found any major bugs, just about any kind of kink you can imagine, something for everyone, creative, what's not to love? From incest to beast to shota, loli, non-con, sci-fi. Pretty crazy. excelent work!

Good game, bit buggy in spots but nothing game breaking. Renders all look nice. Bit grindy but the dev throws in enough jokes to make it worthwhile

Has a quest hint system so thankfully you're not constantly back tracking and reloading old saves to see what you missed

So far it's a good game. Enjoyable, bit of a slog to get through some parts, has room for improvement,

Couple things for the developer to consider:
For the section with your sister and using the lust potion several time it makes it really annoying to have to recreate the lust potion several times by first collecting more milk then making another then repeating the same thing like 5 times over. Make it so once you have made a lust potion you just indefinitely have one, no need to recreate, have the logic just check is the potion has been created, if it has then it lets you go forward without using the potion up in the process. This will streamline it to make it more enjoyable and not a needless slog in this section.

For your direction on where to make new content first, rather than doing multiple girls a little bit at a time, build out a single character's chain of events to it's entirety until it's finished. Then move on to the next character's story line. It might help to do only character's that interact or are close with one another together too. So rather than making more of the hat mini videos or the tv station shows, instead focus on the core characters and build their stories all the way out. (For example do all of the MC's family until their stories are all pretty well finished, ie. you've fucked em all.) Then move on to say the summons like the goblin girl and fill out her and the basement alien girl's story (and now you can mix in bits with the family if you need and decide when it can coincide with their stories easily since their stories are finished and you can treat their involvement like side adventures for them.) After that you could do more summons or maybe get the parts with the dog done (and I'd ask you please let the dog have full breeding scenes with the girls of the family too) and so on and so forth. Doing it this way the story will feel "finished" for the player a lot more quickly and the updates will just be more content added to the game kind of like how you wait for DLC after the initial release.

The game is obviously meant to be fun and not taking itself very seriously, it's fine to keep that energy, but it would be helpful if we could understand a bit more clearly if the MC being a wizard is supposed to be something people in this world do or don't know about. Does everyone in the world know at 30 they could be a wizard? or do they all live in a world just like our real world and thus they have to keep their wizardry a secret from the whole world aside from other wizards that know? Are the other races that your faction of wizards encounters ones native to the world your MC lives in, or when he goes to meet them with the others are they somehow world hopping to a world where those things exist? It would make the world feel a little more cohesive to know a few of these basic parts of the world you've made.
(that being said there was some portions I skipped because they felt boring or lame and unimportant such as some of the scene's within the wizard hat mostly because I was playing the game to be horny, and those seems took long times to say what felt like very little with also very little reasoning or seriousness to them, like what her wizard face deciding to take off a goblin's head because he pointed out she was a 30 yo virgin. Just felt like more stuff to click through about characters I didn't have a reason to care about. (Kinda glad she died later on... least I think she did? dunno what's his weirdo might revive her from the dead idk, didn't pay close attention.)

Some suggestions for UI improvements.
Make places you want to click have larger hit boxes to make navigation easier.
In the panel at the bottom for the rooms in your home, add the map to it at the very right end. It just makes sense for it to be there. Also the buttons at the top of the screen should be circle hit-boxes rather than a hitbox only within the bounds of the image of the item. Meaning the item chest as an example, should have a round area surrounding it so that if you don't click directly on the box, but get close, it would still open the inventory for you. Same goes for most things you can click, another example is the button for the chemistry set, it's near another button to move to a different scene, they need to be spaced further apart and have larger hitbox so they can be more easily selected. Having to be exact with the mouse for a game intended to be played while jerking off is just another pain.

Otherwise though, you are doing a great job at making a game like this with hot scenes in a way that is fun and a bit interesting while not taking itself too seriously. Just try to keep in mind it's an H game and I don't need a million hat stories that don't get the MC laid or blown.

I gave it 4 stars because you do have a large amount of content already, despite the constant item hunts and things to have to get through, it would be nice if things could progress naturally enough I wouldn't need a hint screen to show me what I have to do next all the time. I like that you have it because as it stands now I'd have been lost without it. But instead try to make less fetch quests to collect things and more story based hints from the MC like: "(Maybe if I sleep with Erica more I can convince her to sleep with Monica.)" or "Yeah mom I'll be sure to tell my sister that she needs to go out for a night on the town so I can get you drunk on lust potion while the house is empty and shag you like a true MFer." Implying how the MC needs to progress verbally (second example if bad on purpose) or through the MC's thoughts can make it easier to know the direction the player needs to take. Give him more things that involve talking to a person to move forward someone else's story than a click to find hidden world item. Makes the game more enjoyable and will probably be a bit easier for you since you won't have to add different items in as often. Use fetching of items sparingly and only if an item is truly powerful. If it's a summon, 1 or 2 items a wizard wouldn't have on hand you have to get is fine.
Having to find 4 is overkill.
For making a potion needing one ingredient per potion was great, you did good there.
If an item is needed in the future, put it in one of the two shops you've already made or make a third shop at the wizard's headquarters. Less searching = more enjoyable.

Keep at it, you are clearly doing great things.

It is an OK game.

The renders are pretty good and kind of unique.

Gameplay is just grind like in many other games. Wait a day, start an event at Noon, Evening, Night and so on.

Some goals are also pretty confusing. At some point you need to brew a potion. If you try so, it says that one ingredient is missing (Coc finger nail) but you can't aquire it. When you check the hints, it says that you need to level up a skill.

Plenty of events are also not linear for example: One of the girls touched the MC multiple times and later on she says "Ohhh no, I have never done that to my brother"
The rest is just gather money (jobs and drops on the floor) to buy stuff one after another (it is kept prety fair tho).

The rest is just clicking at the same choicees to continue the story. The story gets pretty dull the more you progress.

Navigation and menus are easy to understand and not confusing.
Overall pretty solid.

I've come back to this page specifically to leave this review, which is not something I do... often.

I've never done it before, in fact. The reviews were very back and forth, so it was a hard call for me to put time in this game. You see, dear reader, if you're anything like me, I've played the shlop of the shlop. Good games and bad games. A lot of them. So when it comes to reviews, things like "quality" or "animations" or "story" aren't the biggest focus. Very nice, yes, but not needed.

No, I'm afraid the most valuable thing when I look at reviews is time. How much time do I have to waste to get to the content that I want? I'm going to answer, for this game: "30 year Old Virgin," it's a lot of freakin time.

I've played many games that've wasted my time, and I've got to say that if this isn't the worst offender, it's in the running.

The character designs and setting are great, and the story is actually pretty enjoyable, however all of this is subverted by the sheer amount of time wasted playing the game.

The developer reuses the same scenes/renders over and over, requiring you to repeat the same actions 4-16 days in a row before you're able to view a completed H scene. Even then, the pay-offs for completed H scenes are very underwhelming, often times not involving sex at all. I think there might be like 3 or 4 actual sex scenes in the game, where the overwhelming majority ends up being anywhere from a nipple pinch to a blow job at most.

To give you a frame of reference, my save file says I've been playing for around 17 hours now, which I'm going to tell you is shorter than my actual play time, and in that entire period of play there were two sex scenes. One with a goblin character at the very beginning of the game, and one with that very same goblin character towards the end of the game (depending on your quest order.)

Even the characters with the most content, being the mother and two sisters, have no affiliated sex scenes. The closest you get is a sleep jerk off scene in each of their respective beds. Which, by the way, you need to repeat around 12ish times (meaning 12 seperate days) per character. And you can only do one of those characters per day.

Speaking of only once per day, more often than not, you can only do one "event" per day. Yes folks, that means for every H scene that requires anywhere from 4-16 days of repeated actions over and over, you can only ever do that one thing that entire day, most of the time.

I've played plenty of games that've wasted my time like this, and often in very similar ways, but at least they had the pro of providing pay off at the end of the chore. This game, as it is currently designed, will waste your time and not reward you for it, which is a shame, as I love the character designs and I even enjoy the comedy/setting.

However, if you're someone who values your time, and don't want to stroke your pecker for hours and hours without any type of resolution, skip this one. Come back if it's reworked.

VERDICT: (2 Stars)

This game features some of the lamest humor I've seen anywhere outside middle school. Combine that with the slow-grinding sandbox that doesn't show any signs of coalescing into any kind of story and you get a game that feels more like a chore than a fun time. I don't mind a slow burn if the characters are interesting people. I don't mind waiting for lewdness if the story is told well and has intriguing foreshadowing, but this game has none of that. It seems pointless so, for me, playing it seems pointless.

Actually a pretty good game, I enjoyed it. Not enough content as of yet, but looks like the dev is not just milking money. It's nothing extra, no walls of boring text, no plot twists, but the models are hot af and it's not just a scene selector. Give it a go, pretty good for a quick fap or two

It's not as bad as people say.

I like sandboxes and prefer a slower burn. This game does it fine. The navigation isn't perfect but it isn't really bad.

The renders are pretty good and the models are great. I dont personally like fantasy creatures type stuff, but the human models at least.

The writing is pretty ok, although the girls aren't very deep, it's forgivable.

A bunch of activities did seem pointless though. they are all the things related to summoning crap, which makes me dislike the fantasy part further.

If we focused on just the two sisters we'd get more good content

30 Year Old Virgin is a fantasy porn comedy with great looking renders and decent writing. I actually laughed a few times, and the game generally put a smile on my face.

The MC is a lovable dufus. Not a total idiot but a bit clueless and single minded... which works as the game is meant to be a comedy about a 30 year old virgin.

There are multiple things going on here that all work fairly well.

1) There is an overall plot of becoming a wizard.
2) There is the internal house story of living with your mother and sisters (all very attractive with better than average writing).
3) There is a town to explore with some interesting characters to run into... both fantasy and more reality based.
4) There is also a super hero group to join up with, and the adventures you get to go on with your team mates and superiors.

The sandbox is pretty massive as clearly a lot of stuff is planned, but for now a lot of locations aren't used for much other than scavenger hunt for quest items.

The hint system is well developed, but really not needed. I looked at it, but never found myself in a situation where it was needed.

The game uses a progression system and so there is some grind, but it isn't just mindlessly repeating the same scenes over again as the writing changes as do some of the images.... Plus you can't get yourself in a loop of doing the same thing over again not knowing if something will happen as the scenes will say "new" when there is new content to explore.

The one thing to remember is that this is a comedy... a lot of the scenes are meant to be bizarre and funny.... if that doesn't interest you then well maybe don't bother.

There are some text errors, and at least a few places were text needed changing, but I never encountered a bug of any sort.

The UI is simple to use, though there are a lot of different places to initiate scenes depending on which part of the story you are interested in following.

I think sometimes it is hard to have both erotic scenes and comedy scenes in the same game as they kind of detract from each other, but it mostly works here. However, as far as I can tell there are no real love interests. It isn't a dating sim. I have never seen a choice with any impact either.

Harem & comedy & incest & fantasy characters & magic & super hero story mashup.... and one insanely well made bestiality scene, which to be honest I found surprising.

I definitely think it is worth checking out. Better than tons of stuff I have played in this genera.

I am giving it 5 stars. I appreciated the developers creativity, and the game is well made with assets that are not generic. A lot of effort and thought has gone into making this game. It clearly wasn't just thrown together, and I suspect if development continues then it will only become better (and maybe stranger).

Anyone giving this a review of less than 3 stars is nuts.

SUMMARY: Missed opportunity due to poorly structured game-play.

PROS:

1. Good looking models is pretty much the only good thing this game offers.
2. Another could be the kinks are plenty.
3. Written well and structured well
4. Premise and story is silly but good and have a comical fun elements to it.

CONS:

1. Game play, UI and how the game "unlocks" content is just completely stupid. The player is limited to exact days, times for certain events to take place and some lock out any other event from taking place.
2. Pertaining to above point, the player has a hint and quest system that does not explain or assist the player in any meaningful way. More often than not, certain events need to happen before another, completely unrelated (at least to the player) event can. All this does is frustrate the player to the point where they abandon the game and play something else with less bullshit mechanics to unlock content.
3. As per above, this is one of the reasons I do not promote sandbox type games, they slow progress and frustrate the player. This causes more problems than good, why developers believe they need to stretch out content like this is beyond me. Less is more, give good meaningful content instead of hours of frustration! Lesson to all developers!

TLDR: Game that has/had some potential to be more but failed not due to content, ideas or story but purely due to the execution, game-play and convoluted mechanics which ultimately destroy it.
