VN - Ren'Py - Completed - A Date With Emily [Final] [RobertDeadth]

Pretty short, the renders are a little grainy, and there's more than a couple of writing errors. For a short story, I can forgive pretty much anything that isn't obtrusive because the story will be over long before I can really start grinding my teeth over it. If you hadn't mentioned it at the end, I would've still guessed it was your first go... but the storytelling, character personalities, and the character asset selection here is sooooo good.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Harry's facial asset in VNs before--it's a good one--but Emily's face isn't one I recognize, and I'm pretty sure I'd remember it because I really love her face. So yeah, she doesn't give me reused/recycled vibes. That makes me genuinely happy.

Also? That red ribbon... that damned red ribbon.

Anyway, the story itself started off a little awkward at Albert's where Emily's facial expressions were kind of challenging. However, by the time they're trying on their second outfits at Fashion and Passion, Emily has this "come hither and have your way with me" expression that screams at me. It's a very sweet story, almost a little too saccharin, but it's a likable story. Very "Red String", but it makes for some very excitable chemistry between these two and I'm really enjoying that here. I kind of want more of this.

Yeah... think I want more.

Like... a sequel some years down the line. Maybe something following a daughter 20-ish years later--with occasional stops along the way for the first couple of chapters--but heavily influenced by her parents' own story (where you could fill in their times in high school, their long distance friendship while Emily was in college, and their amazing reunion). That story could lead to a daughter seeking advice from family and friends as she looks for her own true love.

Oh! I better stop writing and start rating. You'll do something with this if you're interested and not because my mind is floating off into the clouds.

Verdict:....**drum rolls**......

• Pretty standard meeting your crush and dating her and ending on the bed scenario (20 mins max)
• Renders are pretty good along with decent Music and dialogs. (Would have loved more kissing foreplay).
• Having a filler scene between the restaurant and the shop to further bring them close...like accidental brushing or sharing a cone or something would have improved the pacing....cuz it jumped pretty fast b/w then)
• Gal got some curves along with milky marvels.
• Wholesome as shit.

Before I start, I wanna say this. I understand that this game is very well loved by a lot of people who actually play VNs for the story. I'm someone who does the same, and I'd never wanna take away your joy, so please, keep enjoying the game.

Someone recommended this to me when I wanted something short and well paced. I played this for 10 minutes, and I had to stop because I found it really annoying.

The MC massively overthinks every little details and comes off as super paranoid. Yeah, I do too, but I don't wanna play as a character that does the thing I hate the most about myself, it's part of why I don't enjoy most of the asian visual novels I've tried.

What's also annoying is that I don't find that the dialogue is well written or interestingenough to justify just how long sentences go on for. I don't have the worlds best grammar either, but it's so noticable in this VN because of how long sentences are. They'll go for like 4 or 5 lines in a row.

Game looks pretty good though, and I enjoyed what I heard of the soundtrack.

Again, if you like this game, I'm happy for you, and please keep enjoying it, it's just not for me.

A short love story between two childhood friends that lived away from each other for a while.
The game is very straightforward and simple with a lot of wholesomeness.
Worth the download if you like a classic romance story.

It’s a game where you meet up with Emily after not meeting after a while and fuck her unless you decide not by choosing the obvious wrong answers in which case lmao why did you even download the game. Other than that, there’s nothing more to the game, hence a 3 star rating. The girl and renders look great but that’s about it. Get in and within 10 minutes of dialogue variations of “I miss/love you…”, you have her in the bed ready to do the nasty. If this is all you want then great download and play, if not then there are better games to spend your time on.

This is a very sweet story of old friends becoming lovers, and while there are a few grammar errors, they do not detract from the story. The images are quite nice; I would have personally preferred a few more, but overall they are very nice with only a few minor flaws that are not too distracting. As far as a first project goes, this is a very good one. I hope I will have enough free time to be able to play your other project.

incredibly boring writing, filled to the brim with lovey-dovey, happy-chappy dialogs of the two characters. "i'm glad..i'm so happy..looking forward...i'd love to...that's so great.." zero humor and full cringe. i couldn't stomach to read through this crap for more than 20 minutes. it's a shame since the girl's model actually looked cute.

A short but great little story about two people in love. A quality romance tale that is well worth the time to play. For a first release from the developer, it is quality and I look forward to what else the developer makes. Give this little gem a go.

A cute short romance story about two childhood friends who meet up after years apart and have grown out of their shells.

This is one of the more grounded romance games, steering clear of the Scylla of endlessly ego-boosting the protagonist-player pair as much as the Charybdis of super-duper lovey-dovey powered by barrels of corn syrup. The main character is a journalist set to meet his childhood friend who had moved elsewhere to study but has now returned, and she insisted that the meeting was a date. Although both used to be shy, they are now eager to make up for lost opportunities.

The VN relies heavily on dialogue. This feels quite real overall and the developer has succeeded in letting the characters' personalities shine through. The way they encourage each other by increasingly bolder flirting is simple but cute and effective. The date unfolds neatly in a few stages so that the gradual progression builds to a comfortable climax. Although one can see early on where things are going to end, the story maintains erotic tension despite the at times forward come-ons.

There really is not much to complain about. Graphics whores may balk at the renders, there are a few typos here and these, but that never becomes jarring. You can see the developer has given diligent attention to the surroundings and the posing (I'm assuming that the bloke with the long face in Albert's Cafe was an intentional easter egg). The dialogue is a little porny at times but it's never too outrageous. Emily does come on pretty damn hard, even for a former wallflower who's now seizing the moment. At those times she reads more like how I bet straight guys wish their ladies would be. On the other hand the writing tends toward the formal sometimes when the sexual tension is lower, this is more easily noticed at the beginning.

The sex is consistently vanilla but fortunately without the most exhausted porny tropes. There is a good amount of build-up and variety in this scene as well. Smart move of the dev to save the big guns for the end.

Finally I note that this developer likes to add music to his games. The songs for this game fit the scenes very well, though the default settings are a little loud.

Strongly recommended for anyone who is in for a short vanilla romance.

The story is simple, straighforward, but in the same time relateble.

For the models there is a small difference for the first image of MC and the one used after, but it is understable
given the fact that this is the first game of the developer.

Wish him the best and more games in the future

The relationship between Emily and our MC is pretty much perfect. They work so well together and it's easy to fall in love with Emily as story progresses. If your looking for a wholesome story about two people falling in love then I can't recommend "A Date With Emily" enough. It'll lift your spirits and just make you feel good. It's a short story but a great one.

Maybe there are better games out there, like I read in another Review, but still I am giving this one five stars. I am so glad I found it.
I like the characters, their look an especially the dialogues. It still surprises me that it is the developers first project.
For me it's quite hard to get analytical on a game like this, because for me it's mostly about getting envolved and taken with the flow. That makes it quite hard for me to enjoy some of them. A lot of the stories
have redundant and silly dialogues, artificialy created absurd settings, just to fulfill some more kinks. This one is straight and not kickin you in the nuts at some point.

I've been knowing this game thanks to Artwork forum and I was really expecting it.
A short & fun game. Totally recommended for a spare hour.
It accomplish its objective as a first game for the developer.
I can't give it 5 stars as there are better games out there, I expect that one of them will be the next game from @RobertDeadth .
The only thing I would have liked is that relationship wouldn't be so clear since the first minute, I would hav preferred that MC had doubts on the date, how it would evolve, if it was only a friend meeting (it's a porn game, WE know that this is not going to happen, but him shouldn't)
Another comment I can do is to move the action higher in the graphics, having the protagonists in the lower part of the image makes them to mix with the text, specially for android, but I guess that it should happen on PC too (although not so annoying). Leaving 1/5 of the image below used by the bed or characters' legs would put the image focus on the center of the screen. In example, in marketing we create 3 horizontal sections, 3 vectical sections and put relevant things on the intersections.

It's a good game, the renders and the content is excellent. I love the demonstration of character's increasing simpathy towards each other and having their inclination towards the mutual great satisfaction. The events are natural like in the real life, with one of the greatest experience for a man, that is with the joy of having a multiple orgasm of his lover at the end. The girl is an average person, with an individual and charming face, so fortunately she is not a plaza girl, a pussy cat, or any type of model etc.
The game would be a bit better by some animated sex scene, with a more emphasized representation of the orgasms of the characters. Apart from this, this is one of the best of first attempts in the fields of sexual games. I hardly can wait the next game of RobertDeadth.

Short little story and nothing more. It's just a story. But it's a good story. Rendering is on or slightly above par for these kinds of things.

What I like most is how realistic things are. No bizarre, over the top dialog. I mean, it's not exactly realistic that that girl you liked from high school is going to show up one day and want to fuck your brains out. But if that did happen, then I could see it happening exactly like this.

There's a good foundation here for something bigger. Hopefully we'll get that.

A short but very beautiful, sexy and touching story. The characters are just as I want them, the graphics is nice and the music is just the right for the story. The dialogue feels so real. The ending is also great. So, all in all, to give it 5* wasn't difficult!

A Date with Emily is a short game that gives you what the title promises.
It's an introduction of sorts to the work of dev RobertDeadth who humbly offers players a look at this first attempt of his at an AVN.

The game previews drew me in. I found the title character's face beautiful and expressive. And she has a figure that wows.

Aside from the Emily renders, the games excellent lighting and believable poses impressed especially for a firstlings work. Gameplay is standard linear avn with dialogue choices that lead to different replies, but I don't know if there are radically different outcomes. I stuck with straight positive dialogue and was rewarded.

The dialogue offered pretty solid grammar which as an English native I appreciate. The conversational narrative was fairly genuine. The dialogue was ok. Not the wittiest I've ever read, but it was honest enough with no resorting to fantasy big cock hynotism winning over the girl. The story tho basic manages to be both sweet and sexy. A combination I love.

I adore the Emily character so much I don't want to leave her stranded in this game. That's just me though.

The dev has shown he has an eye for female beauty and generally quality renders. Story telling, we'll see. I look forward to seeing more from him in the near future. He's got a Patreon page, hope he gains a patron or two.

normally i would give this game a 4-star rating (animations missing).

Nevertheless it's the first game of this developer and he struggles with hardware, and with the benefit of a "first game", i look over that and apply 5 stars (note: the next time, i may review a bit "harder" - heh )

Aside the missing animations the game is well done. Even the story is really short and straight forward, it's a good game with nice renders and the story is well written.

This game is definitively worth a try for some minutes of joy, and more than that i am personally looking forward into his next game, which will be a bigger story with 6 Love Interests. Keep an eye out for that.

great story, visuals , and a great first work for the dev since i believe its their first. this is a great way for anyone to keep an eye on this dev next works . hopefully people will support and send their feedback on this to let the dev know what they may want in the next stories while surprising us .
