A Father's Sins (CH.18) Review
Came because I was genuinely intrigued by the name and description, stayed because of the plot and great writing.

The content:
-This game is one of the best horror adult VNs out there. The writing is amazing, the plot is complicated and mysterious, and it seems like the whole game relies mostly on the story, because the renders aren't the best ones.
-I really like the characters and the way their development was written.
-There is also some humor.

The visuals:
-I am not a fan of the visuals in the game, and there is a signficant lack of sexual content, but I stayed because of the amazing story.
-The best female character (in terms of looks) is Karina. The other ones didn't interest me as much.
-I like the animations, and the visual effects.

The playability:
-This game has a lot of content, which is very good. It's entertaining, mysterious, and extremely well-written.
-However, there are little or no decisions, and they don't really determine anything. One way or the other, you are sucked into the whole Church-demons-evil conspiracy and you don't have any other choice.
-The idea of ninja warrior nuns in latex suits is original, and I like it.
-The sound effects are also nice, which makes the game more immersive.

Even though I think the renders could be better, I am giving this game 5 stars. It is interesting, sucks you in really quick, and the dialogues are well-written and realistic.

TL;DR - A fantastic supernatural horror-mystery story that overshadows completely the few lewd scenes that are in the game. Absolutely play this if you are not looking only for porn.

A Father's Sins is a fantastic story that really draws you in. It is the definition of an Adult Visual Novel – if we lived in a world where that didn't mean porn games. The few lewd scenes are completely overshadowed by the mystery brewing in the story so far so that they feel a little out of place. It remains to be seen if this will mesh better in the future.

The girls all seem interesting but there is nothing deeper yet with anyone. Graphically they are unique and quite good-looking. There are some weird shots in which the lighting and/or expression make them look like old crones (looking at you healer-nun) but overall the expressions work and really enhance the personalities of the LI's.

The world and lore stand out here. The idea of ninja-nuns in tight latex and warrior nuns against demonic forces is fantastically pulp yet played completely straight faced. Also the moralities of the different factions are intriguing – we mainly play with the "gray" faction, and it seems there is something afoot with them vs their patron, a mysterious statue-lady who gave powers to the MC...

You see, the game rewards you with mana you can use for your spells. However the rewards mainly come from being an absolute goody-two-shoes. Which is strange since you should be the ones in between the absolute good and the bad. It is expressed many times that the Misercordae (or w/e) are not good and there are even some ideological rifts between the MC and his friend, a high ranking ninja-nun.

All of these small things together really build up the intrigue and made me fall in love with this world. The dialogue, small smatterings of humor and the exposition are all top notch.

This rating reflects the potential of the game if it improves the lewd scenes or maintains the story to the end. However, if the story does not pay out or the mystery falls completely flat there is not much here (currently) in terms of porn or fapping material. You can forgive a mediocre story if the lewds are hot, and the other way around too.

I really hope Pixieblink the best of luck with this, one of the greatest AVN stories I've come across lately.

I find this game entertaining with intriguing characters, good renders, and a mysterious plot, but I found the the heavy-handedness of the dev's "encouragement" to donate to his Patreon annoying enough that I gave an unflattering review. I am now editing it after having learned from the dev that they post the uncensor patch a couple weeks after releasing the public version. I'm looking forward to applying the patch and continuing to enjoy the game.

the characters' facial expressions aren't that smooth... it seems kind of forced... like I don't know... sometimes it's even scary but with the horror tag 'it's worth it then, but in terms of history, wow, it's very perfect ... and that's exactly why I'm putting this game on my list of favorite games, I really love these mystery and horror stories, and it's very engaging, I hope it stays that way, and some girls are pretty cute, but in terms visuals, could be better.

At first I was really impressed but then started to see flaws of this game.

This is some supernatural horror story about secret society of warrior nuns fighting with demons and possesing secret knowledge not accessible to common Joe. The story is actually good and the game is quite dark and brutal with murders, blood and gore. There is some nudity and petting without full sex thrown in but it doesn't match well with the rest of the story. Someone is bleeding, someone is dying and then then suddenly some nun is well...bashing your bishop, to keep the church vocabulary

Graphics is mostly good, One thing I didn't like is "big head" style which makes everyone look like an overgrown toddler. But it's a matter of taste.

The gameplay is minimal. You mostly click and click and clik and rarely make a choice. It's more similar to watching a movie than playing a game.

Don't expect a masterpiece and you should like it.

Came for the H-scense, stayed for the story. Seems the release schedule is consistent as well, I see the future works being great for this creator. Only thing I would alter is some of the weird faces the characters make sometimes, and I never see the protagonists face.

Its good! Like way better than I thought it would be. The dev's previous work left me going "blah." They leaned into the wacky and lots of lewd space, and were... fine. This is way better. For a story involving the supernatural, demons and a chosen one type of narrative, it made sense. The girls are all delightful and different from each other. It just came together well.

The animations were solid, and the static renders were overall quite good, but a large variance from scene to scene. Sometimes a specific girl would look awful in a particular scene, and great the next. And by awful, I mean truly take you aback levels of awful. I'm not sure why the dev did that tbh. That said, in an overall sense they were good.

The story, which is the real winner here, was excellent. It flowed from point to point in a fluid manner and in a way that just makes sense. The writing/grammar are on point. The villains are appropriately dastardly. The story makes a point of living in a not black/white world with lots of shades of grey, so in that sense it felt realistic.

Some folks are just not going to like the paucity of lewd scenes. They exist where it makes sense, but in a game where everyone is a priest, nun, or innocent girl, having a multitude of sex scenes just wouldn't make sense in the overall narrative, so the dev didn't shoehorn them in just to make the viewer happy. Good choice imo, but ymmv depending on how much you need the fapping material. There's a million other games out there for you if you want that, just don't complain about it here. You've been warned.

edit: Oh, there's music through the entire game too, which we dont see all that often, and it's appropriately moody. I liked it!

Pixieblink gets 5 stars from me. I like his style on characters and I like his way of laying the plots out.
On A Father's Sins, he uses new drawings and breaks away from the in your face =Three Stooges like comedy and instead has written this one more like a script, it pays off. With Pixieblink still utilizing his fan base for directions, this is certainly going to be enjoyable and worth the time invested.
May add, like all this developers' games this is not a turn on and start whacking your mole, enjoy the game instead and the adult scenes are plenty.

I can only agree with the opinion of some other reviews, even if i liked the game the censorship is pretty annoying and reduces my enjoyment to play it.

*edited the rating from 4 to 2 stars after Chapter 19 and the statement that this game instead of getting "PLENTY of sex scenes" (statement from the dev a year ago) to almost no sex at all now is cheeky. people that followed his game for quite some time already were pretty much lied to.

The only but that you can put to this game it´s that it´s not a porn game. Only one scene, and the game would be better without it. Not that the scene it´s bad, but this it´s clearly a story driven game and the scene seems forced, more like a concession to the fan base.

The story it´s excellent, the characters are each one different, the soundtrack it´s top notch.. If you are able to enjoy a non porn visual novel, that´s a five stars with no doubt about it

The only issue people may have with this game is that it's almost devoid of pornography. This is a valid critique and I won't admonish anyone who feels that way. Having said that, the writing (which I always put above all else), is stellar. This feels like a great thriller novel or movie that unfortunately may never hit shelves or the big screen. I hope that the devs find great success because they are talented.

I must say, amazing game. Its quite different from a standard adult VN and I enjoyed every moment of it, can't wait for more chapters. The only two suggestions I can think of:

1) Better looping of a soundtrack in order for it to be one seamless, infinite track would help with immersion. For a horror/ mystery setting, I personally feel sound is crucial.

2) From what I see, the smaller text is used to show characters speaking softly (out of fear, sadness or some situation that calls for talking softly), I feel that it is overused in certain situations. Maybe reducing it a bit may emphasize emotions more? I'm no writer, so ignore this one if it makes no sense XD

I usually hate games like this. Almost no sexual content even after so long, and it's one of those that is actually small in game size but probably connects to the internet and takes up your C drive.( Honestly I don't know much about those so I'm assuming.)

BUT

I'm absolutely blown away by this game. It's pretty rare to find well written plots AND an engaging story. The things I'd like to complain are all pretty minor compared to the good things I have to say about it.

These are really the kind of plotlines that netflix would love to pick up and make a series out of. But if you're looking for a fap, you'll probably need to wait for a few more updates.

In any case, my utter compliments to the devs and look forward to a great game.

Amazing game.
Please note: If you just want to go for a quick fap this isn't the right game for you since it's quite story heavy. However, if you want to experience a deep story that is actually way to good for a porn game than you will surely enjoy this.

Ch. 11
I was expecting a happy-f4pping time, with a h0rny priest abusing inocent and not so inocent nuns... and suddenly I found myself with both hands over the desktop, following one of the best plots and better narrated stories ever written for an erotic game; with an avove-average use of renders and visuals to support the storyline.

I may curse you for privating me from a fancy-go-f4pping, and I may bless you for enjoying this game so much.
Perhaps if you manage to keep it at the same level until the very end, I may be able to forgive you.

Chapter 11

Great game. One of the most engaging stories for an AVN. The last couple of updates have triggered a strong emotional response. Each chapter gets more intense and I think we're all starting to realize just how dark this game is. I honestly can't think of any other AVN like this--this is some genuine good vs evil stuff. And yet even on the good side there's some complex gray area that adds depth and prevents the characters from becoming cliche. Story is so completely original. Really looking forward to seeing what happens next--and yet slightly terrified as well.

Great work, dev!

Pixieblink's best work to date in my opinion.

Pros:

• Story is this games strong point.
• Many good looking and different models
• Regular updates!

Cons:

• Not a strong sex focus so far. The few sex scenes there have been need more dev time. I don't need many sex scenes; one well done is worth a lot.
• Time spent on frivolous scenes. This may be character development for the future, but it is hard to tell.

Excellent game at the time of review. Very good world building, a nice amount of humor, and an excellent story/plotline so far. Also, nuns with guns. There is only some mild sexual content so far, but in my opinion, the lack of lewd scenes and the high emphasis on plot means that this game has a longterm plan with a high payoff. 5 stars.

I started this in Ch. 8 and have waited a couple updates before giving a review. I still clearly remember how instantly and entirely this story captured my fascination. I can say that with this latest update the story is only becoming even more intriguing.

I will say in no uncertain terms, if you're just looking for a fap, steer clear of this game, at least for now. Even as of chapter 10 there is only some nudity and only a single handjob. The irony, or course, is that without the draw of sexual content I assuredly would never have given this gem a so much as a glance.

But my gods, I cannot wait to see where this story goes. Might not be an excellent porn game right now, but it's already an excellent story with unimaginable further potential.

The game is somewhere in the middle of a little horror and passionate love. The story plot is clear, not tedious and the characters designs are well invested that I feel like I have not seen those figures anywhere else. So curious to see more of the game.
