What ways do you use to simulate different times of the day, such as morning, noon, evening? I suppose HDRI environment maps are mostly unsuitable for this purpose, because even if you play with the intensity of the environment, you can see from the shadows that light always comes from the same angle. The only solution using HDRI would be to have different versions of the HDRI map from the same location.
Do you use products where the skydome is an object in the scene and you play with the skydom emission profile and a sun node?

I use this

Pick a time of day, and then in the environment tab you can rotate the dome just like a HDRI

Remember though, when you use it will muck up any current render settings, so make sure you check them first.

Thanks. So this product are presets for sun and sky environment settings? Is there any way to model a cloudy sky with sun and sky environment settings, or do I have to use another skydome instead if I want clouds?

I just render out as .png and use an image in photoshop when I want a sky backdrop
but I just google image search a lot of the times.

And yes to the first part of your question, I just change the time of day, I have never fucked with all the other settings. Make sure you turn the dome off too so you can put a sky background in the pic

Any good way to simulate different hours of the day using HDRI map if I don't want to rotate the skydome? For example, a ghostlight ball representing the sun?
