Ren'Py - A House in the Rift [v0.7.9 EA] [Zanith]

I try to do my .7 review number thing for all these games, but this one has a more incremental version numbering. Anyway, this game is good. I mean, you're still mary-sue MC, but it sorta fits here, and you can kinda dictate the MC personality a bit. The story is the universe implodes around you and you suddenly endup floating in your house in a rift. Not much more than that. Over time you walk through your dreams and pull more girls into the house. Stockholm syndrome happens after two days and you have naughty fun times. The story actually moves a bit, its surprising! I know! The characters are animated more than built in poses and animations. The characters somewhat subvert expectations. The elf's verbal tick is annoying to me. The pirate is fun and the orc was surprising. SUBVERSION OF EXPECTATIONS IN A PORNGAME WHATTTT?! It's really hard to find much to gripe about the game other than maybe near the end of content you have to sleep through entire weeks to get to the next event and Naomi's nipples change color in the newer events. (which is only really a thing for me because I like when they're lighter than the skin color but that's a ME thing..) Honestly I can't bang on my desk in anger about the game with furrowed brow after scraping my grimy knuckles on the ground like my last few reviews. There is ACTUAL time and effort put into this and everyone should support this Dev. One last little thing I like is there's not space for 35 other girls. It's almost like a tighter game is more enjoyable and doable. WHO'DA THUNK IT.

Nice animations and design. Different characters with their own style. If you don't like the game visual style at first glance, just give the game a second chance and more time. The game also has a "Hints" system, that helps when you get stuck and don't know what to do to trigger the next event.

A top tier adult game in the current day.
Great models, high quality animations. Lots of these scenes once you get further in the game, and a decent amount of content already.
Interesting characteres, solid characteristics and decent writing. Fairly diverse.
Interesting setting blend, a sandbox harem game with little grind required. Currently no consequence to chasing multiple relationships at the same time, which is very nice. Would like to see more multi-girl H events in the future.
Relatively frequent updates from the developer.
All in all, a confortable 5 star review for me, hope to see more of the same.

A amazing game with a great story-line. The character development is so unique to each own that's I will never get boring over it. Especially the elf girl first time meet her i thought she just gonna be like a mean person all the time but the more i spend time with her the likeable. To begin with what I expect when i play it for the first is just visual novel that's only doing sex all the time without a good story-line. So in end every update from this game is a blessing for me since I enjoy it so much~

Review:
Do not get me wrong, but I played this game for a long time to find something good and bad. I'm not a big fan of games with that kind of graphical rendering, but that's not to say I don't like it, I actually find it attractive, but with so many high reviews and good screenshots and animation demonstrations, I was interested in testing it but I ended up being disappointed.

PROS:
- Good Renders

- Good relationship (in some girls)
- Good sex scenes

CONS:
- Silly history
- Many dialogue and choices that don't have much impact
- Grind moderate
- Time consuming
- Some girls don't have enough h-scene

History:
The story is not a strong point of this game, I thought it was a little silly, relationships are a little mixed, each girl will have her personality, but there are plenty of texts to read and response options that have no impact on the story or have any kind of ramifications. But I even understand this a little, because doing this kind of thing is exhausting work.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is good, at the beginning of the game it's bad because there is no navigation map and there are some rooms that are empty, but as the game progresses, the map is added and the girls occupy the rooms. The interface is good, being able to see the status and progress of each character and what to do, as well as being able to see the tasks left to complete. The inventory isn't very useful and there's a scene gallery, which is good. Unfortunately the game consumes some of your time, the grind is moderate.
Graphics & Sexual Content:
The graphics are decent, the renderings of character models are good. About sexual content, there's not much but it's not too little either. The scenes are good and animations too, but unfortunately there are few scenes in certain characters and no moaning sfx sounds, ok no problems.

Why I did gave 3 stars?
I wish I had enjoyed the game, but don't get me wrong again, the game's story is pretty silly. I know it might sound crazy or think I'm talking nonsense, but I'm not in the mood to create romance in a porn game. There are porn games that I don't care if there is a love relationship, as long as there's something that can corrupt and make the girl submissive. The game has a lot of dialogues that can make you more interested in the plot or start to get bored, so if you like something nastier, slutty, you will be disappointed a little. But if you like to read romance stories, things like that, this game is for you. Unfortunately the screenshots and videos made me imagine that this game was like HH, but I'm not saying the game is bad, it has better renderings and better animations, but the game didn't captivate me much.

This used to be my favorite game and I was a patron. Then came Lyriel and Yona. Yona's "character" is that she's stupid, and "doesn't want no book learning". Lyriel is so unlikable, I can't muster the time to care. They are now the sole focus of the game. The renders are great, but the story, and characters have gone off the rails of bad.

great game with story and visuals, lots of content and more comming in the future.
game is prety linear and choices do have an effect on how you interact with the girls, though the choices aren that crutial that you could realy go wrong to much like in other games (atleast for now)

Wtf, i thought this game would have the completed tag after 4 years.
Nah, i am not a fan of longtime milking projects. I think this game is overated.
And after a good start it gets more and more grindy.

I saw this game a few month ago and thought it look like a boring grindy sandbox game with same nice bdsm, maybe later. This week I played the Game only because the first picture. A girl chained in a pillory, yeah, maybe some nice bondage and spanking, thats my thing. I was so wrong, half in the game there is no bdsm or bondage , but this game is at start fun to play but often to grindy with a lot of reapeating.
Especially travelling between different worlds makes a lot of fun. The character development of the girls is awesome in the beginning, every girl has his own Character and the story and animations are absolute top tier material. I really hate sandbox but this game is definitly one of the better Sandbox Games from this side but dev should reduce the grind and repeatings!

Update: Later in the game collecting lewd points for Lyriel and Yona is hard and boring and a lack of travelling and Events! Maybe because the game is not completed. So Im stop playing and wait for the next update.

enjoyed the game. the game has a good artstyle and animation.
would have liked to have more content for each character because you max out at 30 affection and 20 lewd.

In short, it's already quite late in my time zone, tomorrow (or rather today) I'm going on vacation, but I have to write a few words about the game. For some reason I decided to write comments on every game I play.
I'm still new to this kind of games (hentai / porn), but I've already played about 50 or more games this month.(some just go very quickly)
Due to the lack of a beloved girl or girlfriend with privileges at the moment, these games have become a salvation.
Actually, the game was postponed for a very long time.
To some extent, I regretted that I had put it off for so long, on the other hand, I didn’t regret it at all, because the game was very surprised in the end.
This is literally one of the best animation games I've played through. Really. If you do not take some 3D projects, it will generally be the best in its type of game.
Also, this game became one of those in which I was really interested in reading the storyline. Wonderful characters, which is funny, when I saw an orc woman for the first time I thought "fuck, you could have found a more beautiful character" and then I really liked it, I really liked it. I find her incredibly attractive.
Even at some point I wanted to find more games with orc girls, but this is a completely different story and now it does not matter, I still dump on vacation.
I said about the animation, about the characters and the storyline too. What else can I add? Hmmmm ... I probably won't say anything about how many times I jerked off during the game. But let's just say a lot. I'm out of napkins.
For the first time I did not find favorites among the girls. Literally each one hooked me with something. Although if you perhaps look deeper into the characters, then probably Azraesh is closest to me in spirit, reminds me of my ex. I love girls with whom you can joke with a lot of ambiguous hints.
As a result, in all my thoughts, I can say that the game is top. I'll keep it, I hope when I return from vacation there will be an update (although this is unlikely to happen)

What a game, Surprised me to no extent for the plot sounds absolutely absurd (It is) but slowly all the threads start connecting and you reach a point where you don't give a damn because you're far too interested in the MC and the relationships and the lustful acts to follow filled with good lore and sharp writing and amazing animations and falling in love with the absolutely the best succubus ever.

Im gonna make this short:

Decent to good graphics, girls are different, you are not forced to engage with them, but there are 2 of the same type, and that kills the game a little for me, it wont affect the rating now, but that stain will be there in the future.

Decent animations, i dont know if they are provided by the tools, but they are good at least.

The story is ridiculous but for some reason, i kept playing it. I lost my time downloading an incest patch, but i saw no incest at all, thats another stain, that maybe in the future will affect the rating.

There is a decent amount of content: the easy fucking girl which provides some sex, otherwise this would be not worth the time, cause seriously this milestone sex is making me more and more tired of VNs.

Deformations as usual, suck, but thats what it is, in this matter there is no breakthrough in this game.

All these annoyances are noted and they may impact the score later if the game does not deliver. So far the game is entertaining and these things are tolerable, the overall feeling is balanced.

Well written characters and nicely implemented character developement.
Tons of animated scenes and many of them repeatable without need for an gallery, which is provided nontheless. No grind necessary, just pleasant gameplay. Definetly worth giving it a try.

The story and characters are both well written with hours of content and not much grind, unless you're like me and just had to stock up on stuff before backing up my save

There's very few typos and none of those awkward kiss scenes you run into with some of these games (girls head awkwardly moves with tongue out like MC's eyes receded into his head to see what we shouldn't be able to, we've all seen them).

This is up there with games like Lucky Paradox, I'm glad I stumbled on it and definitely recommend giving it a chance.

This game is amazing. The plot is interesting, the characters are well written.
Rae and Lyriel are the best, but Caitlin is a cutie too. The pace of the game is good and not grindy at all, you will get the spicy stuff very early. The animations are very good. I would recommend this game to anyone.

The graphics the story and the animations are extremely well done, the characters are really well written and feel quite real, one of the top games that are currently in development in my humble opinion

Fantastic game with great lore and characters with distinct personalities. Interesting and original way to introduce characters while tying them into the story. Dreamwalk instances feel as they should, like a dream. Dialogue is extremely well written, especially with such distinctly different characters whose numbers are still expanding.

This game is great. Every time there is an update, I enjoy going back through the rhythms of the house. The dialogue is varied enough in most places that it doesn't annoy me to do some activities over again.
There is like a ceiling for honey select animation and this gets up there.

A fairly original story (for me at least) coupled with likeable characters and lots of events make this game a very enjoyable one. I'm not a fantasy fan but it's pretty well integrated here (though the game starts as sci-fi).
This is basically a harem game but it's also a sandbox. Fortunately there's little grind needed and some girls are truly lovely. Graphics are good enough and a thing I personally like a lot is that MC's face isn't shown which helps with immersion.
I think everyone should give the game a try at least, I'm sure glad I did!
