Ren'Py - A Tale of One City [v3.7] [Project Blossom]

Grindy. Very little content even though it's supposedly almost finished. Poorly written. And no consistency with the models - for example, in some scenes the same character will be played by multiple models.

It's just too grindy for anything more than three stars and the incredibly bad English takes the third star away. I tried to like this game based on some of the good reviews, but I just couldn't. I really don't know why these non-English speaking developers don't ask someone to write the script for them.

I like the concept, but it's a little too grindy for an adventure sandbox game of this size.

There's too many locations, many of which have nothing constructive to do most of the time, and so you end up running around playing hide-n-seek with NPCs while trying to figure out how to progress. When you finally start finding your groove, you slam into an unfinished questline.

I like the game concept, and hope it gets more developed with time.

i like it, better, i want to like ... but as you have to stick to the hint system to not go into rage mode because without it become a guessing game with way to many possibilitys where you may have to progress to progress at the plot you want to progress...or to find a character that allows progress at all and not just "nothing" you

End of content simulator.

I don't know how to rate this. A three seems about right for 0.5, I guess, but no higher. You see, it's essentually a QSP game like Son of a Bitch or an HTML game like one of the others but in RenPy. Great, right? Except the content just isn't there right now. There are two characters that you can somewhat "complete" their arcs as in PIV sex whenever you want but it seems like there should be more storyline/quests with them. All the other characters are either just a single image or a short quest before end of content like before kissing or anything. The writing is also not going to win any awards. It's quintessentual porn writing like Become Taxi Driver - an excuse to get to the porn.

The good thing that I saw were people bitching about no hints. The hint system works. I was never really lost but there is an order that you need to do them in unfortunately. The grind is still there but from what I saw stats like fitness and int stop rising around 50 so there's not a lot of it. The gym is broken and makes no sense. You pay 3000 dollars to get in and then you need to pay 50 dollars for every workout after that. That's so stupid. Attractiveness also seems to be stuck around 30 and there doesn't seem to be way to raise it but there is a minor character and random encounters that require high attractiveness. I'm not sure the clothing really affects it much if at all. I didn't buy the car as I was not prepared to grind workdays for weeks to months on end to reach 10000 dollars.

Try it if you like but see about getting a compressed version and expect abrupt endings to questlines.

I've tried to play this game a while ago but resulted a bit glitchy, uneasy and with a lot of grind. However I really liked the approach and seen some potential in it...
Playing the latest version (0.5) is actually satisfying and finally looks like a proper game! Looking forward for more content, keep it up!

I have to update my review on version 1.4.

I've loved and hated this game again and again. I've downloaded and deleted it multiple times but in the end it always leaves me frustrated.

Too much grinding, saves gets lots almost every update (on purpose?), very little content.

I understand that devs try to make a profit from it, but considering isn't even original content, I'd rather go download the whole porn clip than grind hours and hours and hours to have little to no reward.

I think this project isn't going in the right direction... I might be wrong.

Grindy with almost no content and tips all is just pure guesing just waste of time if i could give it 0/5 i will dont release games with nothing in it. Maybe i will change my review if there will be atleast some content saying its 0.4.6 and theres nothing.
Edit: After few updates game looks promising there is alot new content its easier to navigate so far so good UI could be better but whatever for me if it keeps improving like this maybe i will give it 4/5

Old Review for v.4.0: A game developer who has a cheat hate boner. Not to mention a fetish for grinding, and it's not even the good kind of grinding. I would rate this 0/5 if i could. What a waste of time. This is not how to make erotic games 101.
New Review for v.4.6: At least the developer listen to the reviews, they have removed all the anti cheat and blocked content. The game has potential but still for now it's still barebone. I change the intial 1 to 4 for their effort and improvement. Looking forward to the day this game is fleshed out fully.
Edit New Review for v.0.7: drastic improvement, they remove the grind, the game has great model choice and good storyline. I hope the dev don't drop this project like 99% of other game creators on this forum.

This is a waste of time, 0 out of 5 if I could give that.
There is no way to know what to do, everything is a guesswork, trying to visit anyone you spend all your energy going there, finding out there is nothing to do and going back.
You can literally not do anything it seems, I haven't in the first hour and that is enough time to show this is a no go.
Developers that want you to grind and stumble around are wasting your time.
Go for anything but this idiocy.
