I didn't intend to call anyone else that other than the husband, even going as far to make it sound like a joke. As for the speculation, it seems like it's pretty cut and dry from what I've read.
See that's the thing about speculation ever if it seems Cut n dry we truly don't know what's really happening in certain things just assumptions of what mightve happened or is happening

The blackmailer imposes a "MENU" on you, but what to choose from the menu is your voluntary choice. He collected the entire amount in cash, came to the TV studio and organized a live broadcast. He poured out all the money in front of the cameras and ANNOUNCED A REWARD FOR THE KIDNAPPER'S HEAD. Here is an example of choice. You can cowardly refuse to admit that you have a choice, you can lie to yourself "they made me", but there is always a choice.

It be cool if dev created something like the what if minigames from power vacuum here but with dynamic of this story like the scenes that left unfinished or unanswered like behind the scenes of all the girls
Or re name the story and at beginning choose which character in this story you'll be mainly playing as same story just different angles
