I’m new here, and besides searching for one-handed friendly games, the “THX for the share…” meme under every thread has really caught my attention. So I want to ask: when did this “tradition” start, and from which thread did it originate? These memes are always high-quality and never fail to make me laugh.

Anw THX for the share...

... this isn't a meme? it's just an expression of gratitude for sharing something; thank you for sharing [this thing] [with us].
thx = internet/texting for thanks
the share is probs a bastardization resulting from social media having "share" buttons, so it's thanking for the act of pressing that button, eventually evolving into people using it to thank for anything made available online.

I know that it’s just an expression, but why does it always come with a meme, and why does it always appear on the first reply of the thread? Maybe these patterns make me mistakenly think that it’s some kind of inside joke, rather than just a THX.

posting on-topic memes on the first page or two = more likes (an average person at best only reads that + the latest page); likes be good and make the poster feel good

thanking = making the op (or whoever leaked what op posted) feel good

double posting = considered rude on a forum as posts take a lot of space (so you add both to the same post if you want to do both)

As far as I know some users use the THX as a way to "mark" that they had seen/downloaded/tested the game.
Sure they could use some other phrase, but the THX does work for that just fine.

Don't think it's a meme but I always saw the user, Lerd0 (or something like that) say it and it'd usually be the first post. Then I started to see other people do it. I feel like it's some kind of inside joke but one where it feels like I'd need to spend an ungodly amount of time on this forum to have known how it started so I'm fine with not knowing for sure what the deal is.

If I ever understand stuff like that, I'll know that I'm spending way too much time here.

Hey, Lerd0 is a (cat)-god now. :BootyTime:
Sometimes it serves as a "reservation". You create a post and then edit it later to a proper meme (like rKnight).

Oh shit, thanks. I didn't know there was an actual purpose behind it. I just thought it was just some random innocuous thing and then other people started doing it too or it was bots just copying whatever that looked like it'd get the most reactions.

Why do people end statements with question marks? So passive-aggressive and condescending at the same time. It's like you want to be a dick but don't have the balls to be direct about it and aren't smart enough to word it in a different way. So ... just terrible all around.
another trend you've observed on this site/online or a projection of bad past experiences on my confused tone (as it appears to be the only example of it in this thread)?

Man ... this feels weird. I'm just too tired to put it into words. LOL.
Usually it's like, "Oh yea. That guy? His account's been inactive for years by this point."

The real answer is that it's rKnight spamming every new game thread for imaginary internet points.

Is it a meme? I thought it was just thanking the uploader for sharing it with us

And it's proved true once again...

In case of doubt, blame Lerd0, you can't be wrong...
