Ok, how to review this game...

Lets do it like this:

The Bad:
1. Bland Mc: the classic "chad" mc writing for someone who doesnt know what a chad is, he doesnt have charisma, he says unfunny jokes most of the time, he is carried by the girls, he tries to be smart but everything fall to his feet, no effort at all, he would be the worst character if it wasn't for...
2. Hanna: yeah, this one can be controversial, but hear me out, she began like the classic little sister in any anime harem, cutesy user, smart, a little devoius, but really fun, except that while you play more she becomes increasinly annoying, manipulative and erratic, and it is such a real shame, because at the beginning i found her charming, but later i just wished that her scenes were cut out, her jokes become otaku comedy, and not the fun otaku comedy like konosuba, nop, it was the cringe harem otaku comedy, the type that only japanese otaku with a mentality of a prepubert would enjoy, god...
3. Wasted characters: The mom, a busty
twin, Ember( a little), the villains, etc... this one hurt, for real, how can it be that a character that was born from a dumb gag has more development that a main Li like the mom?? How?!.
4. Storyline: yeah, even with everything i have said before, this is a game that works because the characters, because the story is convulsed and senseless, not horrible but pretty dumb, it would have been better if the game just follow the classic meet a girl and conquer her without any "main" plot.
5. Sex animation: this one is a little bad faith, they arent horrible per se, some are good, but the speed and some angles should be worked more, still it has some great blowjob animations.

The good:
1. Other Lis: this is where i get annoyed because how can you create a character like the mom and at the same time you write Lucy?? She is really great, all her funny moments are really charming, and she grows on you, everytime she appears the game become enjoyable, the classmate is another great character, she only has one gimmik but it is work really great, Other Milfs/wife/older Lis are pretty solid, and fun to see, and lets not forget the goddess.

2. The sex situations: maybe the animation arent the best, but if we talk about the sex scenes, they are pretty good, great even, there is plenty kinks to try, and they doesnt hurt the story telling, some like with certain mommy are top class.

3. Humor: outside of the otaku humor that appear from time to time, there are some really great jokes here, especially by Lucy and Ember, they are charming together and i dont understand why the dev worked so hard to try to make Ember disliked, a pretty solid work.

4. Good use of side characters: yeah side characters are pretty great here, and the dev is pretty creative with them.

Even when i put more bad stuff than good, the good is really amazing, that is why i recomend people to play it.

If the game would have been developed to its conclusion and had some other minor improvements, this could have been a 4 or even 5 star game. But it's abandoned and there's very little porn content. The negatives outweigh the positives unfortunately.

Positives:

• The girls are all hot and in somewhat different ways!
• One (short and basic) anal scene.
• Pretty good character models overall and graphics. No significant complaints.
• Literally the only adult game that has successfully used humor (although see negative points below).
• Some good animations.
• There's a beautiful submissive girl that wants you to be her daddy and train her.
• The MC is not a weak, insecure idiot. Which is a big step up from most AVNs.
• A good number of girls. Not so many that it gets complicated.
• One deepthroat scene.

Negatives:

• The game is abandoned! It's very unsatisfying. The game stops suddenly in the middle.
• The game doesn't include much porn in comparison with non-porn content.
• The story does get old pretty fast... So eventually you'll probably be skipping quite a bit.
• The proportion of story/jokes versus porn is bad. There's too little porn in this porn game.
• Animations are too slow. It's a weird and recurring issue. "Oh you're fucking me so hard and fast!" but then it's just a slow half-assed penetration.
• Even though the humor is mostly fine, it does get extremely excessive and tiresome. I mean, it's constant!
• Unavoidable footjob. Not my type of thing.
• No interactivity in the sex scenes.
• The story is essentially railroaded. The choices are very minor. But this isn't a big issue imo.
• Humor during the sex scenes doesn't work well. It's a turn off.

A game whose comedy and slap stick comedy with use of sound effects is akin to a japanese anime, implemented in 3d avn form. It is an artform of storytelling I can appreciate but I can't enjoy until unless I find these character worth to follow like school rumble. Unfortunately mc is bland, and whiles supporting female are great, their sexualization turns me off, give the tone of the comedy, hence it seems author is trying to force fit two separate genre and for me that result is failing despite its tasteful renders and ability to think out of box.

For me it is 3.4/5
Because the combination fails for me, though I can see this combination working wonderfully for some, but alas not everyone can like everything.

How Long To Beat: 5+ hours

A comedy game that actually manages to be funny!

Above the Clouds takes the basic formula of a choice-based VN and subverts many of the tropes with humor while still delivering on the promises of an adult game. Gameplay is mostly kinetic, with choices determining lewd scenes and jokes. No sandbox. No (major) relationship point system. No inventory. Just straight up story.

Premise: MC is in an purgatory-type place, recounting to an angelic being, Helen, the events that lead him to this afterlife(?). This includes, but is not limited to: seducing his mother and two sisters, his family moving to a boring town called Pittsville, seducing various residents of the town, his father becoming involved in a crime conspiracy, a global conspiracy that involves world destruction.

Most of the tropes above are recognizable. If you've played enough VN's, you're probably bored of them by now. Thankfully the game tells this story with legitimately good jokes and eschewing all of the boring parts of the story.

Unfortunately, the last hour or two of the game starts to focus too much on these ridiculous plot lines, taking a global conspiracy of world destruction a little too seriously. It's ironic that the game was abandoned as soon as it takes this turn towards the "serious".

To illustrate the point, early in the game, whenever the MC is prompted to get involved in a tropey "the end of the world" plot, it's subverted by MC who is focused on getting to the next lewd act. I was disappointed when the game finally focused in on these as a serious plotline rather than continuing to dismiss it outright.

A majority of the character models are attractive, sexy, and unique. There isn't a lot of cross-pollination of character features, except that the developer likes redheads. Well so do I!

The game takes pride in it's sound design. Every scene has sound effects, music and sound gags to add to the jokes. Many of the sequences are animated and often played for humor.

The comedy ranges from sight gags, animation jokes, call-backs (sometimes to such insignificant details that are genuinely surprising), absurdity, and some parody. The comedy is consistent with the characters, so while many of them are silly (for point of references of similar humor: Spongebob, classic Looney Tunes, classic Simpsons, Adventure Time), very few are monkeycheese LOL random.

Every lewd scene is animated and has sexual sound effects, although many of the animations are basic, such as missionary sex scenes where the focal point is penetration. Many of them I wish would have had more camera angles.

Let's run through the various love interests in the game. Because its abandoned, I think it's fair to spoil what lewd scenes are available to each character, so that a prospective player isn't disappointed.




Helen: An angelic supernatural being who serves as co-narrator, guiding MC through his story. She becomes infatuated by MC. Lewd scenes go all the way to vaginal and anal sex.



Hannah: The "cute" younger sister. Immature, goofy, conspiratorial, silly, instigator, agent of chaos. A lot of the game's humor comes from Hannah. I'm personally not the biggest fan of her face. I was happy to see a character with soft puffy cheeks, but she's probably the weakest link on the attractive scale. The few times you see her nude do make up for it. You only see her naked and can get a handjob from her late in the game.



Lucy: The older sister. Plays a little hard to get, is dismissive of her siblings, but is never a full-blown tsundere. She's just as playful and goofy as Hannah, and has some of the best jokes in the game. She's very sexy and connects most with MC. Lewd scenes go all the way to vaginal sex.



Evelyn: MC's silver-haired MILFy mom. Has the least characterization of the LI's. Bored housewife, feels dejected by husband, finds her son's advances problematic but is just too horny to say no. (The carpet does not match the drapes.) Furthest lewd scene is handjob and blowjob in late game. I think she's very sexy.



Ember: Lucy's boss. Owns a bar/restaurant/night club. A bit of a dom and a tease, comes off as sinister but just seems nice but mischievous. Wants to see MC bang his family and anyone else. Most of her lewd scenes are teasing, but does give MC a blowjob.



Mia: Alt girl. A cute sub looking for her dommy daddy. Likes it rough. Lewd scenes esclate to outdoor vaginal sex.



Nicole: Teacher/Principal who's brain has been broken by roleplay. Married, but anything that happens during roleplay isn't cheating. Lewd scenes are full vaginal sex (with optional Ember watching!)



Tim's Mom (I can't remember her name): Redhead MILF with magical titty love powers. Loves MC for being her loser son's best friend. Lewd scenes go to full vaginal sex, but it's played as a gag. Actual lewd scene involves topless grinding on MC's cock. An absolute GOAT MILF, model-wise, although not utilized nearly enough for how high quality she is.



Millie: Bad-ass assassin, a twin, trying to save the world but is on everyone's shit list for trying to kill MC. Don't mention her small boobs or she will try to kill you. Lewd scenes get to full vaginal sex.

The cast of characters are all sexy and enjoyable. While some are more fully developed than others, I liked them all.

Overall, this game is worth a play even though it's abandoned. Maybe the dev will get back to it. Like all abandoned games, the limitations on lewd scenes with your favorite characters are disappointing. Because the game doesn't take the plot seriously for the majority of the run-time, it's a breezy playthrough with good pacing.

While the face of the little one looks too much like a little kid, this game is freaking hilarious. I love it. Especially the character Lucy. Perfect soundtrack, great editing, excellent renders, hilarious plot, sound effects, and great animation. Highly recommend

Love or hate game. I strongly side with the former. Hell, and even if you end up hating it, you should at least try it. Because no matter, you will have to admitt that bold and original. The only game that comes close is In a Scent, so if you liked that one you should definitely play this as well.

Though even I agree that the humour kinda gets in the way in the last 1/3 of the current plot, it just overshadows everything else at that point. I was happy with it up until than, but I would personally turn it down. This is especially visible with Hannah, even I think there should be a limit.

Second minor gripe is the bar lady (forgot her name), just felt cliche and I find her just annoying without any redeaming qualities, personally.

What I noticed unique about this game are the male characters, including the side ones. They are written *very well.* Timmy? and the dad gave me a laugh basically everytime they were on screen.

Also almost all the girls are sexy af, in a unique kind of way, and the renders are truly stunning.

1st VN i couldn't finish - writing is unbearable, all 3/10 points come from clean animation + models. This game nailed on the looks side, but humour for 10 year olds over and over and over. NEVER ONE SERIOUS MOMENT. nothing to cut the cringe, just cringe man... a lot of wasted potential

Ok, I hear that people complain about the humor in this game, but goodness how many boring games are out there? Romance/mystery, romance/drama, romance/survival, and so on.
This one is a breath of fresh air.
Humor is delightful and the characters are actually interesting.
I really enjoyed this game.
Also, animations, models, and game-play are very good.

This AVN is just awful. The attempts at humor fall completely flat, leaving me cringing instead of laughing. The sheer number of spelling and grammatical errors is appalling, making it difficult to even understand what's going on half the time. And don't even get me started on the lack of continuity – it's like the story was stitched together by someone with no regard for coherence. I regret wasting my time on this mess. i feels like people give 5* on everything nowadays. smh

However, I must admit that one positive aspect is its technical performance. It doesn't stutter or lag, and runs smoothly.

The writing is fucking awesome, didn't get this much lol time except for the time playing No More Secret.
Still at early stage and I hope there will be some seriousness with the comedy or it'll become boring.

Edit: now I understand what the problem is, the developer try too hard on the humorous side I mean it's really nice for short time but only to suffer the whole game is really irritating. There is another problem a significant one and that is all the characters are similar I mean all are kind of crazy there is no single character who is serious I mean you cannot really like anyone unless you like crazy people and then you kind of like them all. I think you understand where the problem is. I mean if there are one or two characters were different like someone serious who actually is more responsible. The girl who calls the mc Daddy could have been a more serious person or like the younger sister she could also be more serious and responsible person.
Waste of a great beginning.

BTW the sex scenes(angle), models(boobs) are legendary. Loved it.

The renders were nice, and I love a good slow build but the story just gets more and more ridiculous as it goes. It starts off kinda normal-ish and then veers hard into psychedelic fantasy bullshit. Also, the little sister is clearly the hottest model but there is no real content with her.

It's a more silly game with an incest family dynamic. It's almost like a parody type of AVN if you're into that, then this would be your cup of tea. The sound effects are kind of offputting to me, but the theme of the game isn't my flavor

This game is absolutely fucking hilarious! LOL I thought I had seen the peak of AVN comedy with OIALT / Eternum / In a Scent, but this one gives them a run for their money. The story is 99% nonsense, but its absurdity is part of the reason why it's downright HILARIOUS

11/10 -- immediately one of my all-time faves

I played through the 0.75 version.

If you find fart jokes funny, then the humor in this comic AVN should fall right in your strike zone. It aroused the occasional chuckle from me—intermixed with frequent groans—but I found myself laughing at the attempts at humor as often as from them.

The graphics are...fun, I guess. It looks good, and a lot of effort has been put into scene transitions, but the animation of the sex scenes falls on the minimalist side of things. There is a decent musical score, and a scattering of ‘funny’ sound effect to liven things up. If lowbrow slapstick humor is your thing, it is probably worth taking a look at this.

The game is more entertaining after consuming hard drugs, I imagine.
Without them I gotta say is not that funny as to choose it over standup comedy (not even unfunny standup),and it is definetly not that sexy for you to choose it over any thot streamer. The story is about a guy who is telling someone how he got to a certain point, we, as readers won't reach in 7 years of game development, cause it's moving at snails pace between all the attemps at funny and memes and the sporadic dick close ups, and any scene that justifies putting a dick render in your face. It is sad to say that you will see a closeup of a dick at least 2 times before you get to see a see-through view of a niple.
The only vagina you will see for a good chunk of the game is the one of the father, cause he has a big vagina that is only lacking a cameltoe.Well this im describing is what you will see during the introduction, and at the end you will be rewarded with a pinup, cause that is what you want to see in a game, a totally unearned picture.

It is also sad to say that you will see the writer being way too self aware of his greatness as a writer and creator before you actually witness any proof in his work.
Like after the introduction the mc sits together with his sisters and they are all adults and have been living under the same roof for 18 years, and the mc needs to "break the ice" with them. You need to break the ice if there is some tension from a previous event like if they had argued, or if someone did something to offend other. Forgive me but I wouldnt call this good storytelling which the writer is bragging about in a previous conversation. It doesn't make sense.
The writer thinks it is funny to make the mc a punchbag, and have the sisters insult him, which makes the game not funny, but makes the girls unlikeable. In a normal situation with normal human beings it would be different depending on their personalities. But if for you character development consists of girls "hating the mc" just because to later (10 years later) "crave for his dick" you won't find anything wrong. Just don't brag about good storytelling cause it is really not. At some point the "story" goes Pedal to the metal

Well the story as I said will move at snails pace between all the memes and at some point, even if you don't follow the walkthrough you will get easy sex release from the person above the clouds. Of course, we had memes and we can not lack DICKPICS,and in this scene you will get a couple. At this point the game should be tagged as "Gay" just for the noticeable amount of dick closeups with no woman in frame.

After this event the game becomes pretty much a fuckfest, you basically get something from pretty much every girl you meet, BUT, you guessed it, there is Hannah girl that will give you NOTHING, or a very small something if you are lucky. But there is no buildup, the scene is stupid, the dialogue is "unnispired", it doesn't make sense saving that character for the end if in the process of creating the game you didnt learn enough to make it Pay off.

The visuals are not that good to balance any bad aspect of the game, and the quality of the sex scenes is not above average. Delaying Hannah content is stupid if you do not have the ability to make good sex scenes. And this really bad aspect of the game is made even worst with the lack of actual character development and buildup.

TLDR
A blueball fest until it becomes a rushed fuckfest.
Way too many sfx and bgms, its absolute madness.
No character development really, and story is all over the place.
Decent graphics but very average and rushed sex scenes.
A new goddess named Hannah for the altar of Virgins, or very rushed and unworthy sex scene in the future.
Too much dick worshiping.
Dialogues are not very inspired
Too much noise, its like a nerd rambling non stop to convey a very simple message.

Not worth the time unless you are very inexperienced in life and have less than 1000 hours of internet experience. If you do have them you will probably have seen everything this game has done 100 times better elsewhere.
One extra point for Evelyn Naruto.

This game is a tad too cartoony and silly. It has an excessive amount of silly sound effects, characters acting weird, and cartoony moments where the MC leaps across the classroom to catch a falling moment. Would not recommend if you're more into grounded and realistic VNs

This game is hilarious. It has great music, characters, and beautiful art and renders. Above The Clouds has some of the funniest jokes that I have seen in games. I highly recommend playing, it is worth it.
