I said I read the first light novel, yes. No information was given beyond that, so I really have no idea how you extracted my expereince with the series beyond that. I have, actually, watched all the show, and researched the light novels enough to get a feel for their contents and differences enough to have a semi-informed opinion, even if I haven't read them. Again, unless the author greatly improved over their run, which I've otherwise found very uncommon in the Light Novel space, there is some established precedent to say that when something is lackluster to begin with, it stays that way.

I am dissecting literature. As an author by trade, it's literally my job to have an understanding of writing, its something I take pride and joy in. With that understanding in mind, and as someone who is always on the lookout for the "whys" of things, I can say with confidence that Kirito, especially that of his far, far more widely experienced anime iteration, has an abundance of traits that people generally latch onto for NTR fan works. That's not me projecting or "begging" for anything, that's me making a factual observation with years of data. Also, Kirito *is* a self-insert, at least functionally, as per the words of the author himself. And like I said, if you actually bothered to understand what I wrote, was that I understand the appeal of Kirito as a character. I did, after all, watch and enjoy the show. But to say that he is a good, well written character is an entirely different matter. People can, and do, enjoy bad things. And Kirito, in all his shallow, unrealistic, unrelatable, vainglorious, self-aggrandizing ways, is bad.

But as someone who thinks putting animal ears on an otherwise normal human makes them furry, we were never going to agree in the first place.

this isn’t a place to write a fucking literary review of sao or kirito. it’s a fanmade h game, not your blog. no one asked for a breakdown of why you think the writing is bad or why kirito offends your idea of a good character. if you enjoyed the show like you said, then that’s it. play the game or don’t. you don’t get to act like some authority just because you “researched” the light novels and wrote a few paragraphs calling him shallow and vainglorious like you're trying to impress someone

also, by your logic 70% of anime characters deserve to be ntr'd just because they have a girlfriend/wife or don't fit your masculinity checklist? what does that even prove? that you can twist anything into an ntr justification if you talk long enough? that's an insane cope. if you really need to dump all that resentment over sao, mal/anilist/imdb and other such websites are wide open. but this thread isn’t your personal soapbox for unloading whatever bitter essay you had sitting in drafts

Its a public forum, it is, quite literally, by definition, the place to have discussions about the nature, intracacies, and opinions of the related work. Yes, it is a porn piracy forum, which does set the bar low, but that doesn't make any statement any less inherently legitimate. And yes, I am not an "authority", but I am a professional, and the fact that I did my own research into the greater world of SAO does still put me ahead of the vast majority of people, who largely only experienced the anime. I'm not saying my opinion is more valuable then anyone else's, just that I do know more then most, and can apply both this spcific knowledge along with my broader knowledge of character writing as a whole to make a more informed opinion that people can then choose to accept credence of.

And I am not, nor have I ever, advocated for any character to be cucked, regardless of how they are portrayed. The original discussion, years ago, was simply saying that, as a matter of statistical fact, Kirito possesses a set of traits that the NTR community at large often attaches themselves to when it comes to producing NTR fan works. Me stating numbers doesn't even reflect my opinion on the matter. Because again, I enjoy SAO, even if I think Kirito is a goofy gary-stu type character. I have no bitterness towards the character, I merely enjoy the understanding and application of character writing, and how people at large receive and interpet those characters. Me being a verbose and learned individual may come across as talking down to people, but that is not my intent. I don't mean to be on a soapbox, just to share an informed opinion and some statistical numbers. It is, in my opinion, no more egregious then the fact that you seem to find it fit to come and white-knight for a franchise that you clearly enjoy, and attack others over this perceived grievance. And again, there is nothing wrong with that (The defending part, not the attacking part). I will always advocate for people to find what they enjoy and to enjoy it regardless of anything anyone says. But we must, regardless of how we enjoy things, appraise things for what they are, and not let our enjoyment blind us. If you want to indulge in a wish-fulfillment character, good. There is a time and place for that. But also, when in a discussion involving what is or is not a good character as weighed against a thousand years of established storytelling common practice, we must put our enjoyment aside.

I do accept your apology, if you truly mean it. My stance remains one of trying to reach understanding.
