SONYA, PART 2 — $20 RELEASE​

The best girls deserve the best updates.

To say that we went overboard with Sonya's story is to say nothing at all. Given the limitations we have to work around, this is without a doubt a huge jump for us, as developers, and probably the most successful twist on our usual formula we have done to date. While we might have not reinvented the genre, we certainly opened a door for more intricate stories to be introduced in the future. Never before had we dared to add branching paths into our game, and not because of laziness or time constrains alone, but because making multiple equally compelling stories is a huge undertaking, especially within a singular update. But as our team grew and we slowly accumulated more and more experience working as game developers, there couldn't be a better time to start introducing new ideas into the mix.

That's why we are incredibly proud to present Sonya's new update! Not only this is one of the largest story expansions our game had ever seen, it's also the very first non-linear story, where your past choices and route progression matters. On top of that, it features three unique h-scenes and brings back the animations! We've done everything we could've, and even some things we thought we couldn't, all the while we somehow managed to still maintain our monthly release schedule! And while it might still be far from what we consider to be an "ideal" update, we're slowly creeping towards this dream.

This time you will follow the protagonist through wild and uncharted land of "friendship with many benefits", or at least that's how Sonya refers to your unusual situationship. Each passing moment more and more questions will arise, bringing you closer to realization of the truth behind her true motives. It's not the kind of drama or mystery you're used to, it's something new entirely. Her problem is not a problem, this drama is not a drama, everything is whack and far off the norm. Your senses are tingling, but you can't quite put the finger on why exactly. Each step down this path raises new questions, but you can't help yourself but continue onward. After all, she's so hot!

So, without further ado...

Sonya, Part Two — Electric Boogaloo! It's finally here and it's literally better than ever! Don't waste a moment and jump straight into the world of wild student love!

An important note for those, who wants to see all possible interactions: This route is affected by whether or not you have already completed Yun's storyline. I would highly suggest playing through this story on a fresh save file, or on a save file where Yun's story is not yet completed, if you want to experience as much content as possible.

GRIND NEVER STOPS!​

As you probably guessed by now, we're already hard at work making our next update. And if Sonya was huge, the next one is humongous! We are updating the entirety of Seraphina's storyline, which includes: Character designs, backgrounds, story elements, scenes, and basically everything there is. We weren't satisfied with how barebones Seraphina's character felt, especially considering the untapped potential she has as a scientist and a doctor, so this is our attempt at redeeming otherwise rather boring plotline.

But since that alone wasn't enough, we are also adding completely new character, expanding the existing sequences with more content, and introducing a lot, and we mean a lot of lore into the game. It's about time we started taking the world of Academy34 more seriously and gave you a bit more insight into what is happening both within and outside of campus walls.

Young_Naughty looks like the brunette character's name is hard coded into the text, rather than referencing the player's custom-inputted name list, on this line:

And speaking of the custom name list, since the OP didn't have one prepared, I took it upon myself. I've prepared a civilian version (use this if you want "Ava" to become "Hana Song" and "Sonya" to become "Lena Oxton", for example) and an OW aliases version (for if you want "Ava" to become "D.Va", "Sonya" to become "Tracer", and so on). To use, open the file you prefer in notepad, select all, copy, and then in the game, go to the settings page (tip: right-click twice will open the phone even if the button for it isn't onscreen at the moment) and click "Import Names".

...so, in the in-game guide, it says to start <Ava/Hana/D.Va>'s route, I have to do <Reina/Olivia/Sombra>'s x-ray quest. But on Olivia's page, it says I have to do Hana's route first. Uhhhhh... nani the fuck?

ETA: tried searching the thread, just got a lot of results about the x-ray feature not working; I'm sure there's an answer buried somewhere in the 5-pages of results, but ain't nobody got time fo dat. I've done the girls' dorm unlock quest, so I guess these nonromantic favors for Olivia don't count as part of her route? But in that case, the Hana guide really should say how to start the x-ray quest. I try talking to Olivia right now, all I get is the option to buy pictures for the gallery.

Cool beans. Noticed the same issue in the first major Amelie event, both on her name and Hanzo's. Honestly, based on what I've seen so far, I'd recommend having somebody proofread the entire script for instances of character names not being variables, because it clearly isn't an isolated occurrence.

Proofreading a game with 7 years of script is... problematic. We plan to check every route once we will start adding them into the overhauled version of the game, since that will require story rewrite anyways.
