Did you use an IP Adapter to go from video-tape look to the cleaned up one?
No, no, the other way around. I added VHS effect to an ordinary AI generated image to make it look real.
I was considering an idea for some time, after seeing some game that uses VHS effect and looks so real you can barely tell. The idea is that making a hyperrealistic 3d look is actually adding some noise instead of detailing because it's impossible. Created 3d models are always somewhat unreal in an inexplicable way. So I decided to try making an AI image look real with the VHS effect. I think it worked out well. Looks like a shot from a real video tape. While the original art looks obviously generated. What do you think?

Granted that I don't know your threshold for what a realistic look is I still would submit that IP Adapter could be used for the task of turning cartoonish / 3D models into real-life photos subject to the model limitations.

Here are more tests although this merely scratches the surface because the rest of the iceberg is nicely tacked away: https://f95zone.to/threads/stable-diffusion-prompt-sharing-and-learning-thread.146036/post-11985258

By realistic I mean that if you look at it, you can't tell if it was a real photo. IP Adapter looks great though.

I am after exactly the same thing, and the journey gonna take time. Although the toolset we have now for this task were "unimaginable" even ~six month ago.

Now, if you have 15 seconds, do watch the screen here -- the guy turns a cartoon character and brings it to life:

If you go wow, then do watch the rest of the video. I think he talks about anything but IPAdapter, the point is that the guy is after the same thing we are and tries different toolsets.

Yeah, it actually looks very real. I'm not an AI artist though, just passing by. I randomly got this idea of making an inperfect AI-generated image look indistinctible from reality using the VHS effect, and shared it. I also wanted to make a game using such edited pictures, but I decided that I can't satisfactorily make custom sex scenes with AI after some tests. I agree with your endeavor though.
I don't know about the AI art, but with 3d games I believe that the future ultra-real graphics are not going to be achieved with detailing them more, but with making the image somewhat noisy. I believe you can never make a 3d model do all the micromovements, etc. that a real person does. But you can blur them so it would seem like they're there.
This is the game I was talking about.

Not so good, especially on eye, but this is fast try without prompt, using only lora and embedding.

And now, welcome to
