How do we feel about AI generated art in our games?
If I were to make games and could put out 10 games but its AI generated art vs having 1 singular game with hand-drawn art, would that make you still want to play the games?

Some people love it.
Some people hate it.
Some people like it.
Some people dislike it.
Some people consider how it is used.
Some people consider how much is edited/revised after it is generated.
Some people consider how much effort a person puts into creating quality prompts.
Some people dismiss it, out right.
Some people just don't care.

You are not going to get a consensus.
If you want to use AI generated imagery, learn how to use the tool effectively - just like you would learn how to draw effectively. Find your style. Find your perspective. Go for it. You will have fans, no matter what. You will have haters, no matter what.

There are over 9 million user accounts registered on F95. Tens, if not hundreds of millions, of people who play adult games. Even if 1% are fanatically enthralled by AI generated imagery, You're looking at hundreds of thousands upwards millions of potential fans in the project.

As long as it's not a company using it to cut costs out of sheer greed, and the final product is at least reasonably polished, I don't mind.

The demand is huge, as much as I may dislike AI 'arts' myself, you can't ignore the demands. Deepfakes, undressing apps, to AI 'art'. Each has its own market, and a huge market at that. Meaning that there are people who genuinely enjoy and love it. You can rest assure when utilizing AI to create your games because there's demand for it.

If you use AI-generated 'art' in your games, please state it clearly, or proudly, whatever. You already have a market for it. People demand such games, and you can supply that demands. You can do some market research on this forum alone, when people search for something, but the current existing games doesn't have what they are searching for. It's your chance to fulfil that demand, using AI to create that exact scenario is entirely possible since you have that flexibility.

If you want or dream to become a game developer but you don't have a formal degree for it (cs, art, literature) or the required skill for 2d/3d art and its derivatives (character design, sculpting, posing, animating, concept design, create a compelling visual, etc), writing and storytelling, coding, project management. AI can help. You can utilize AI to overcome the limitations, learn the basics and gaining general understanding on game development and its industry while actively trying to explore, experiments and build things using AI as a tool. Utilizing this forum to learn as much as you can, receive feedback and criticism, learning the know-how from existing devs. The more you experiment and explore, the more you get the gist of it. And you can fulfil your dream to become a proper game developer. I can respect that.

On the other hand, people who dislike AI art can simply ignore your games. You can also ignore them, recognizing that they are not part of your target market. Focus on your own audience. There's no need to play tricks, such as providing 'sketches' or creating fake 'full process' video to conceal AI usage in attempt to attract as many users as possible. No need to be THAT greedy, maximize your market, enjoy it with people who genuinely love it. Use this chance to learn while make a living from it.

As much as people hate AI 'art', they loathe deception even more. People who conceal AI 'art' as original, hand-drawn, human-made work, only to claim that they 'forgot to add the tags' when caught. It's infuriating, and even more infuriating that sometimes the anger directed at the wrong party (the site uploader) and creating another dizzying, eternal AI denier vs AI worshipper which can be easily prevented if the devs clearly stating they are, in fact utilizing AI and don't play stupid tricks. There's a reason why some users on this site are pushing for stricter AI-related rules, from adding additional tags, creating pages specifically for AI-generated content, up to an outright ban of all AI content.

If it's a good game, I'll like it; if it's a poorly made, lazy game, I won't like it. simple is that

I don't have a strong opinion either way, but AI has the following disadvantages IMHO, some are very subjective:
1. Images tend to look similar to other AI games/images. One look and people realize it's AI, and some will automatically turn away from it. Heck, some people filter AI games off in their search filters.
2. Personally, I'm subconsciously always looking for imperfections in the images, so I'm not enjoying them as I should. I'm guilty to judging imperfections in AI much harsher than I judge glitches in 2D or 3D.
3. AI offers much less flexibility when you wish to convey specific expressions or unique sexual positions.
4. I can't be sure about it, but I suspect that between throwing away (and re-rendering) defective images and trying to get that perfect position/expression, AI is not much faster than 3D.

I'm not an AI hater. I have thousands of Comfy images I rendered on my computer, but as a developer I can't see myself using AI art in my game for the reasons I described.

Ai art 99% of the time all looks the same, struggles to make characters look like themselves in multiple scenes, cant make good sex scenes, and many times triggers uncanny valley. Its not impossible to make it work but I think learning blender and 3d modeling is easier then the effort it would take to make the ai program make anything that isnt slop

I think for a lot of adult games AI art is good option, problem is that you still need at least basic art skills to fix AI fuck ups where it adds more fingers, breaks anatomy etc... as it breaks completely immersion. I tried a few games with AI art. I didn't have problem with art as I did not try to find those AI fuck ups, but if I accidentally saw one then I would not be able to unsee it and could not enjoy the art anymore.
Also problem comes with art style consistency. But from what I have seen some models are able to be "somewhat" consistent in style.
