VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Alison Fall of the Apple [v1.0] [OneManVN]

Really tried to give this one a shot. But... I just had to leave a review before even finishing it, which may not happen at the rate it is going.

+ Decent renders, though some of the facial expressions aren't that good.
+ Love interests have different body types, which is a plus
+ There's a little humor here and there

--- 5+ hours into the game, and there's been exactly one (1) full sex scene for the MC. To call this a slow burn is overly kind. The story isn't good enough to prop up the lack of sex, and the game suffers greatly for it.

----- The MC is (for a hard-ass military type who lost his wife/child, and then was a veteran police officer and totally confident)... a spineless wimp of a male. He allows women to smile and be cute and push his buttons to get their way. He even let an assassin (whos' life he saved while she had kidnapped his niece) push him around by using him for light sex. It's just... ugh, unbelievably inconsistent character writing. Initially he appeared like no one could push him around, and now he's like a shuffleboard puck - just zero spine at all.

----- Speaking of writing, it's not good there either. Five hours in and I find myself wanting to hold down CTRL to skip most of the "thought" sequences, which are unbearably long. You get to hear every tiny thing each person is thinking, all the time. It turns what would have been entertaining, into a reading slog.

- What humor is in use, isn't really very funny. I've smiled once or twice, but haven't actually laughed at any attempt the game has made to provide laughs.

-- Far too many lesbian innuendos and references during the "harem path". It's like they're getting more screen time teasing each other than they are teasing the MC. I do find it hot when women go at it OCCASIONALLY, but not to this extreme. Seems like it was a developer fetish, and it just overrode other parts of the story and the bits that most people would otherwise have wanted to see.

- Some of the models (primarily the Alison one) are just too "thic", with completely oversized breasts, ass, and even extra weight all over. She's supposed to be a little over 18 years old, but she looks like she's in her late 30's or early 40's, and has pumped out 2-3 kids already. It's unattractive for the central female presence in the game.

-- Animations are lackluster. Sometimes it's just frame-swapping, other times it's a full render but without much finesse in camera angles, or framerate, or how to word what's going on during the scene.

-- Lack of choices in how to respond to the other characters, as the MC. There were several times I wanted to put someone in their place for being too flippant, or teasing far too much when they should have been serious, or for disobeying the MC's requests (when he literally just saved their lives and took them to a safehouse that ALSO had their kidnapper lounging around in it). It ends up FAR more of a kinetic novel than one with choices, and totally at odds with itself.

The biggest negative overall for me was the inconsistencies with the MC's personality, how he reacted, and any lack of choice I had in how he'd react. He turns out to be a spineless wimp who's supposedly a hard-ass, and it was in direct contradiction to his past.

Based on the above it is a hard game to play, and I'd end up giving it a 2.5 out of 5 stars (and that's generous). If you're having trouble finding something to play and LIs to oogle at, you could give it a try. But don't take anything about the characters (or what they say/think) seriously. CTRL is your best friend with this one.

If I manage to finish it and my experience changes drastically (it would need to at this point), I'll update the review accordingly.

Edit: Post game update: seems like this was intended to be a "Chapter 1" or "Season 1", as the game literally ended after casual sex with someone who wasn't even a love interest (just a side character). The story was mid-stream as well without closure of any kind. From that perspective, while this chapter may be "finished", the game and story were abandoned as I can't find any continuation of it elsewhere from the author. The last ~2 hours had a lot of sex scenes, but it felt like it was rushing towards a finish line for the chapter, and not trying to wrap it up for the next one (which doesn't exist).

Dont play it.

Legit, just don't play this game.

To anyone thinking of playing this old Zone classic, rethink your choices. The game is completely nonsensical. The plot, renders, and dialogue feels like almost none of it lines up coherently.

Really man its just not fun.

Alison Fall of the Apple is a VN from OneManVN in which you are an ex-military cop that finds himself in the middle of a long story of human trafficking, corrupt cops, evil rich men and a lot of shooting with a dab of erotic scenes. Following your typical western VN you have a couple of choices from time to time that branch the story a bit in regards to which girl you want, if you want to focus on one, have multiple etc. I found this game after playing OneManVN's next game, The Shrink. That one really got me interested in his work despite the weird story. And good that I found his second game first, because this one is terrible. The pacing here is atrocious, you will go through hundreds of boring panels that have almost nothing to do with the relationship building, and character development you want to see. A crucial point of visual novels is the engagement the player has with the characters explored and the slow approximation of the protagonist with the girls. When you keep adding new girls out of nowhere and have them doing nothing interesting for many panels of pointless dialog the player will lose interest like I did. Especially when, instead of focusing on the genre of the game, you have more panels dedicated to whacky nonsensical ninja fighting and military action with girls named after cringe-inducing edgy teenagers like shadow and storm. Besides that, the models are fine, nothing special but also not terrible. Again, on his next game The Shrink the models are much better made. It's not a worthless game, it has some nice moments especially in the beginning before the remake version ends, but overall I do not recommend Alison Fall of the Apple, it lacks many aspects of a good VN and outright makes itself bad with a terrible over-exaggerated story and awful pacing. At least the devevloper improved a lot for his second game.

Idk what to say chief, to each their own, but god damn do the heroine look terrible. I get the sentimental feeling of the MC with her because she looks like his ex or whatever. But good god, why the hell does her design look like a lesbian, not the hot kind but the feminist with the capital F kind. So ugly that I can't bear to look at her as something that I want to protect at all costs.

The game tries so hard to emphasize on how everyone wants to protect her so badly just from the first impression of her. But why make her look like the "Strong independent woman" type. Why would I want to protect and hold someone look like that in my arms. I know that everyone can be vulnerable, but god damn, her look, and her personality doesn't match up at all. I'm sure 95% of men on this earth would very much prefer to protect some young, frail, and gentle-looking girl rather than this.

Other than this, I have no opinion on other aspects of the game. It's just only this shitty part that makes me want to rant so hard about this game

They screwed up. Dev was trying to do a remake of the first chapters and you end up having 2 choppy games patched alltogether.

The prologue has good animations, the story is catchy and even tho some of the models could use a bit of work there's nothing really bad about it.

That is until you get to choose what path you want to explore.

Then you start whatever path you want, with references to events that didn't happen at all in the prologue and that actually contradict the main story.

Then from having several renders per scene and some good animations, you get a few static images with wall after wall of text.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against reading a lot if the story is good and makes sense, but in this case, it doesn't. It's kinda like arriving mid-movie at the theater and trying to understand what's going on there.

Then there are the plot holes that start giving away whatever cohesion the story still had.

The mysterious bad guys turn out not to be that mysterious... nor as powerful as they seemed to be. Just a bunch of creeps that have kind of magical powers, since you end up beating one leaving it ready to hit the ER, and then finding him as good as new on the next scene.

MC also has had a downgrade from the prologue. From a well-trained cop with a military background, experience in dangerous situations, and overall very intelligent, to a guy that needs a ton of help to rescue a girl from a single guard (had to bring the sniper for saving her!).

All in all, I liked the first part, I see the game is completed, and no updates from the Dev, which makes me sad. I think both the idea for the story and the characters were really good... it's just unfortunate that the update was abandoned as it is now.

Reminds me of that terrible recent Bruce Willis movie, the one where he plays some guy named Clay.

its really funny, i stopped playing this game thinking that the story was just going on and on and not much sex, turns out the point where i stopped, was right before all the sex started happening lol
i get back and play the game and its all sex scenes and ending !
so i played Love route
alison path where i get to have all the thicc girls (its like a harem ending)
Harem path only really have 2 endings but no new scenes leading up to it.
Mellisa path have 1 scene and 2 endings.
i also played dom route
warning : all the scenes are in the dom corruption path, dom affection has absolutely nothing zero scenes, i don't even know why its in the game.
now i ll go back play the harem route, i hope its not disappointing as dom affection which was a complete waste of time.
note : the writing job is not really good at all here sadly, i just read a conversation in 30 minutes out of boredom, where they just went on and on and on about the same thing between Melissa and Alison.

I'm a bit divided on this one. I enjoyed both the story and the porn, but idk man, something didn't clicked.
Love route is done, with several endings, but I don't know if the Harem and Dom routes will ever be completed (too bad, the models were really better).
Still recommend it.

This game has a fantastic render 9/10 lighting and well structured interaction it's hard to find quality like that.

In my opinion I would give 8.5 so far for this game.

I have to give it a 4 stars because the alignment of the story-plot aren't very nice. Plot really matters when it comes to thriller like VN like this one. "Depraved Awakening" could be a good example.

Why I gave 4 starts instead of 2 stars are,
The dev tried something new, in the process he made mistakes unlike those common mistakes other devs do. That is why these mistakes didn't annoy me as the should have. Because there are lot of them.
He tried to make some good story unlike some heavy sex based games, {FOr those devs, I don't understand why do they even bother making porn like games, I mean if we wanted only those wouldn't we watch just porn or hentai? }
These aside the main theme and settings were great, if implemented correctly, it could have become one of the greatest like "Retrieving the past".

One other thing he screwed up was making multiple almost completely different different routes. He should have led all those effort on making it better together slowly taking the MC to choose the route later on instead of making MC choose at the beginning or any new game.

Animations were okay and Models were okay too. Nothing impressive there.

The potential is there, the story is promising and the character designs are pretty good but the way the protagonist keep obsessing and simping for a random stray mutt (Alison) he saved from her father or whatever is sooo annoying.

I understand he is doing it because she reminds him of his wife but -I- as the player/reader had almost zero knowledge of said wife, if the wife had been included in the story from the start and had let the player/reader build a connection or understanding for the wife as a character then i might've understood and tolerated the protagonists simping.
but no, the wife remains a mystery until the very end and by the time she enters the story she's little more than a random mob in my eyes.

the Dev fucked up this otherwise good story.

The game was good for the most part, especially the relationship path. However, I am giving the game four stars due to a missing tag and that the author did something just plain awful to one of the girls and conveniently forgot to have a tag for it. The tag I speak of is rape. It's not confirmed out of the girl's mouth but it is heavily implied and she is even called a personal slave/cum dumpster by the perpetrator so it's pretty much a sure thing she was raped. That being said I will move on to the rest of my review which is mainly glowing stars all around.

The story, specifically the relationship path was very good in my opinion. Despite the no-no I spoke of earlier about an important and dear character getting raped, the game tells the after effects well. You can see the emotional damage and physical damage the rape caused to her, and the game did a good job making me mad about it. Normally rape is a no-no for me unless my character is the one doing it and even then it's still wrong, but the game also tells it in a believable way that makes sense in the story and isn't just some poor girl who didn't want it at first but then the sheer pleasure of it has her begging and moaning for more, no it leaves a terrible and realistic tole on her that really just adds to the character and the players later game decisions as a whole. You can see in the way she is presented that it broke her and that she feels used and useless. An experience that would leave most people suicidal. However, she doesn't talk about It much if at all. Your character tried to get her to talk about it but she fears it would only hurt him as well so she keeps her mouth shut and suffers silently, all while raising a daughter, blaming herself for betraying you, and you blaming yourself for not protecting her. I love how realistic that is. Granted sooner or later she needs to let it out and possibly seek therapy, but many of us would deal with it in the same way. But it also bothers me she doesn't talk about it because now we have no closure on that part, was she raped, was she not, how does she feel, and when she does feel ready to talk about it what would she say? Those were some things I was hoping for but didn't get. Thankfully we didn't have to see her suffering through that evil. And choosing her to have your ending offers some closure at least in that she is healing from the nightmare, she'll never be the same but your love helps more than anything else could. I also tried the harem route, Its not bad but it really just changes the characters a great deal from the intro so it's not my favorite. It's almost like they are different characters, shoot even some of them look like completely different characters with the same name. But personally go relationship, you can have a mini harem in that one too if you really want to fuck a bunch of gorgeous girls and with a better story where everybody is happier.

Models and characters are gorgeous, nothing much more to say about that other than it's not all the same body types, and the characters are all different in their own unique and interesting ways.

Scenes. Sadly another fault is the so few scenes you get, but I also don't mind. It adds to the believability of the game. You get one sex scene with a girlfriend early game and after that for most things you need to wait till late game to see anything else. After you make important decisions on who to have your ending with. You still get to see nudity throughout though and the pics you see of the models are gorgeous as well.

Not much in the way of sound or music, most of the game for me was silent with a few scenes having various sound effects or music.

Pregnancy is always a plus, especially in relationship games.

All in all, I think Rape should be added to the tags list or at least be mentioned somewhere to warn people. And while I don't like stories about rape I give props to the author for playing it realistically. So 4 stars for a pleasant game with good sex scenes and a rather good story with only a few plot holes here and there, but nothing to story breaking. Congrats on a good game Developer.

Tragedy or comedy? This VN can't decide what it what wants to be, and suffers immensely in an attempt to be both. On one hand, there is a horrifically dark mystery about sexual slavery, on the other hand there is a cutesy romantic comedy with all sorts of ridiculous tropes (the main LI Alison is a textbook example of Born Sexy Yesterday).

The characters try to exist in this impossible dilemma and end up doing mind-boggling things. An exceptionally well-trained cop of renown discards everything she knows and jeopardizes lots of lives, including her own, out of... petty jealousy? Really? The MC's pregnant girlfriend is kidnapped and forced to be a sex slave for 4 years, and what does he do when he rescues her? He either decides to be with someone else, or includes her in a harem. I mean, WTF?

I stopped playing the moment I realized there is no possible way not to be a complete fucking asshole towards the mother of your child. I absolutely hate it when a game forces you to act in a way no decent human being would, and this VN was no exception.

Too many words, not enough pictures. The premise is somewhat interesting but the game just bogs down in the neverending stream of dialogue. It's so excessive that I lost interest very quickly. After what must have been hours of clicking through boring dialogue, I finally arrived at the first sex scene. I was rewarded with a couple of unsatisfying images, no animation and about 300 lines of dialogue. Not my cup of tea.

Great game! One of the best on this site. I I love the selection of looks for the girls. Great writing. Hard to put down. If just looking for quick fap, move on. Looking for characters you give a sh*t about? This is your game.

Reduced rating from 5 stars because of complete tag when not complete. Gives 3 paths, 2 are not finished. Dev, your a great writer but mislabeling is a d*ck move.

It's "click-to-see-next-slide" Visual Novel (a.k.a. powerpoint presentation) with no gameplay or dialogue options (you just read what MC and others think, say or do and click "next") and by click i mean click 100 times to see next slide because there's tons and tons of text and very few stills. Not much to watch but plenty to read. There's endless talking and inner monologues (with characters that mostly say nothing and repeat things that already been said numerous times). Story is just "young-guy-lives-in-house-full-of-women" cliche with characters that do not talk or behave like actual people. Renders are inconsistent, characters look different every few stills, there's almost no sex (if there is, it consists of just 1 or 2 vanilla-sex stills), no animations, and everything looks like is was designed 10 years ago by a horny but not very talented teenager.

but i have some critic points: my 5 cent the MCmodels in each Route Love/Harem/Dom dont match exactly evry time i like only the Loveroute MC where he is gearing up to rescue his Wife and Daughter from the Comisioner,there he looks like a Deltaforce Badass in his 40's,the Harem Model for MC looks a bit like a student or schoolboy Facewise,and the Dom Model for him looks like a inked up mafia/yakuza thug i would really prefer if we could choose the Char or when that is too much(3times renders for each model) then please stick with the Deltaforce Badass...

and for the Haremroute i hope for a Epic Pregnancy Ending like in Sisterly Lust, dont know kill the mayor and the evil scientist and get the money from them and buy a Banana Republic for u and the Girls

If you are planning to play the game i would wait until the remaster has been finished because at the moment the game is a total mess, loads and loads of errors, story dosent stay consistent, characters don't stay consistent, its much better to wait.

MCs life totally destroyed just meeting this person and yet not a single hesitation to helping her, When asking for explanation and dosent get any its just oh well "best not push her" WTF his life is gone and he wont even ask twice why(seriously devs there is a thing called anger look it up, its what normal people have, if it was just her life then i could understand him not wanting to push but its MCs as-well now), it makes even less sense given his military training, yes sure keep the info that will keep you and me alive secret because you are embarrassed and shy i wont push you(is that what you think a military man would say/think?)

I don't know if it plans to be changed in the future but the entire meeting Melissa scene and the shopping trip after(not what any normal person would be doing while on the run) is a crazy mess, they are adult police officers yet they act like horny teenagers talking about watching movies and going shopping when they should be asking why just knowing Alison at all has caused their lives to be destroyed and planning what to do next.

Endless talking about how one person knows they will treat me right and they have a good heart etc... which given they have known each other for 2 days is just terrible writing especially after putting such empathis on saying that she had such distrust of men but two days with MC changes her mind on trusting men after 16 years worth of bad experiences with them.

Fake "choices" right from the very first "choice", example: "you can trust me, you know?" or "leave her be for now", pick leave her and get "trust that i mean you no harm and that i only wish to protect you.", one of the next "choices" "go to her" or "don't go", pick don't and guess what you still go to her(really why bother?), even one of the main selling points of the game "essentially 3 games in 1" is fake and states in the game that 2 of them are just for fun and shouldn't be taken seriously.

I just couldnt play this game, im sorry, its excruciatingly boring, endless talking and inner monologues with characters that mostly say nothing and repeat things that already have been said numerous times. I dont mind long sessions of texts, but here they are way too long and absolutely nothing happens, and they are barely moving the plot and relationships forward, been playing if for almost 2 hours and barely any lewd content, and i get it, there is a story in there somewhere, but come on, get to the point dont drag it out with constant repetition, and honestly it just annoyed and bored me to no end.
Its a shame really, because the renders are not bad, especially the remasters, and there are some good animations, but the writing here is just not good, not terrible but far from good, the main issue being the pacing.
I will keep playing it, maybe it gets better, and then i will update this rating.
