This makes me think on when they first started using those horrible black boxes in manga i was reading a manga about a girl running on buildings (forgot the name of the manga) and as normal in a ecchi manga it had lots of panty shots.
So suddenly out of nowhere in a latter chapter somewhere in 80's i think one of these horrible black boxes appears blocking a panty shot, me thinking it's some kind of mistake reads on and a few pages later a guy get decapitated no censorship at all.
And after that i encountered a few others sexy scenes all pretty innocent with these horrible black boxes.

My point
Fiction violence fiction that in many cases is even glorifying violence is perfectly acceptable it's rare to hear any action being taken against violence and it's pretty hard for a developer to go to far with it.
Yet when it comes to sexual content it always seems under threat and it's easy to have it removed if even innocent scenes in a manga that gets read by people who are old enough for that kind of content gets removed just what kind of example are you trying to set.

Violence is ok but sexual things aren't?
If i have to much stress grabbing a baseball bat and beating the shit out of my neighbour is fine but going to the prostitute is wrong?
Is this the kind of idea you want people to have?

I don't understand the thinking of people who make decisions this.
But it's clearly obvious something is wrong here violence in our media is socially acceptable but in many countries sexual content is a taboo.

Yes but luckily those people are a minority and luckily they lost power, if they didn't i would not be here my ideas clash to much with these kinds of people.

The thing with extreme content is that you will always have people looking for it and you can think maybe those people will start doing whatever is shown in the content.
But in most cases it satisfies the desires of these people, the have a kick a fetish that needs to be satisfied.
Violence is a common thing in our media millions of people watch it yet violence in society is pretty rare.
There is probably a show that features murder on TV every day stories featuring murder are easy to find yet the murder rate in my country is about 50 people per year despite millions of people consuming content with murder in it on a regular basis.

This isn't a left or right issue, it's about authoritarianism on both sides trying to ban adult games. I was born in a communist country and lived through the aftermath of its collapse. I was very young when it happened, but I often hear stories about what life was like under that regime, so don't pretend it's only the right that can be authoritarian.

Make a crappy SFW game and sell it on itchio. (or a decent game, that works too)
Link the itchio game's page here alongside their NSFW game and supporters can just purchase the SFW game.

The NSFW devs can still be supported right under the nose of those activists.
There's always a way around everything if people stick together and fight back.

Unless the title and thumbnail give too much away that it becomes an easy target, this already works on steam games which use it and saved them from the recent purge(s). A lot of my games there require a patch otherwise the steam version is pretty lame/vanilla. Usually Japanese RPGMaker games.

I reckon most all of the patches add some non-con scene in the game, even if it's only 'one' scene (that can be repeated), goblin rape / tentacle rape etc.

If they were to still remove those from steam, a lot of publishers would have practically no games and have to pack it up. (Kagura/Critical Bliss/Wasabi Entertainment etc). Which makes me think your suggestion might have some teeth to it.

Think about it like this. . . if they cancel Kagura (easy target) and not Steam (giant), even tho both are use the same 'work-around', Kagura would have a case against the credit card companies.
