All NSFW games on Itch are now hidden by default.

Change.org hardly made any change. It's not a petition platform to government like the Stop Skilling Game one. You should call your lawmakers. If you're too nervous to make a phone call like that, an email would still more impactful than change.org (it would probably be spam filtered, in that case it's as effective as change.org). If you live in a country where there is something equivalent to FTC you should send a complain to them (which I did).
Well, in my country there are problems with freedom of speech and officially pornography is under state ban (although in fact it is not and if you want you can get access to anything, taking some risk and responsibility). So for me change.org is the only platform where I can vote against censorship of NSFW game content.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hope this turns around for devs before they start hurting due to money loss.

I also hope itch plans to refund people or somehow set up a legal action that forces the people who forced the games to be removed to have to pay for them. That would be a fun Uno Reverse card on the feminists.

We had something called the CFPB before Trump destroyed it. How people do not know this is beyond me
Yeah I'm aware. What's your point? I couldn't give a single fuck about your personal politics. I'm more interested in what can be done right now to fight these Credit Card companies and groups like CollectiveShout, not about avenues no longer available.

Their games were just delisted without any foreshadowing.

Imagine if you go to work, with bills to pay, and dependents relying on you.

And of a sudden your employer doesn't only not pay you on time, but tells you they're reviewing whether or not you have a job with them in the future, and that they'll need time to review whether or not it's worth keeping you around.

Now you could say "just get another job", which is life, and does happen. But imagine if you were an electrical engineer and all of a sudden there's a ban on electrical engineers.

That's what just happened to studios and developers.

You said it yourself - they dont really give a sh*t (about their own ToS) as long as they get their cut.
Until they get reported.
And especially until they are served a cease and desist from the IP owners.

They don't want to be named in a lawsuit by AAA studios or other entertainment megacorps and so when they get reports and C&Ds, they take action.

As for the rape and incest content that they list on their TOS as prohibited, they will take it down if reported --- especially if reminded by payment processors that subscribers use for the platform to get their cut.

Guys and gals, no one will protect our interests but ourselves.

Tell MasterCard, Visa & Activist Groups: Stop Controlling What We Can Watch, Read, or Play

I've already signed the petition and encourage everyone else to do so. In my opinion, the link to this petition should be fixed on the forum by the Administration F95, Kosumo Aphrodisia, UncleVT, X|Mortis , Doorknob22 so that it is always visible to all players. The more votes it gets, the better. Of course, this is no guarantee that all the problems with censorship of NSFW content will be solved, but we have to start somewhere.
Someone really needs to make a dedicated website for this like the Stop Killing Games campaign. Change.org is a garbage platform that is known to be ineffective and is very hard to be taken seriously. A dedicated site/platform would show that people are truly serious about this issue and it would be taken a lot more seriously by the companies/officials.

While that is true that trump destroyed it. Unfortunately it is irrelevant in this regard. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau would have protected people from fraud, but in this case they would have been toothless most likely. Since it is not about fraudulent activities, but arbitrary restriction of consumer choice.

So in that regard the Fair Access to Banking Act, H.R.987 rspkers talked about is more of a practical solution to this particular problem. But hey what do I know.
The CFBP has significant power over the banks which in turn have a lot of power over payment processors. I'm just saying, that power was already consolidated into a non-partisan independent agency. No need to pass a bill that could easily be amended to include/exclude anything

Who will create such a platform? You, me? Of course, it's good to speculate about something that doesn't exist, but even if someone volunteered to create such a platform now, it would still take a lot of time and effort. Therefore, until it does not exist, all means are good.

Stuff like Venmo, Bitcoin, WeChat, and other equivalents in Europe have shown that payment is honestly kinda easy to do. I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years Visa and Mastercard get a mega shakeup and loss of market share.
WeChat is from China.. how are you going to buy a game with weird fetishes with WeChat?
To use WeChat you have to link a card and the only cards are Vis@ and M@ster
Bitcoin may be an option, but dev, itch, Patreon, etc., don't want to take that step.

What is needed is basically another new "blackr0ck"
Crypto are the only alternative to escape these powerful "investors."

Japan apparently is actively fighting against this Credit Card Mafia, this was few days ago.

View attachment 5075177
I've read somewhat conflicting information on this. Some are excited they're "fighting back" but other Japanese netizens point out that they aren't actually enacting any fines or punishments on them that you would expect with the Japanese anti-monopoly laws. Instead, VISA agrees to go back to what they were before the changes they made, with a third party monitor over the next 5 years. In short, they found they "technically" didn't violate the law (even though they kinda did) and essentially got away with it by saying "We promise we totally won't do it again."

And to clarify, this doesn't solve the adult games issues. That's entirely different from what this post is referencing. This issue is in regards to VISA putting pressure on smaller card companies, stifling competition. Still, it sets a precedent, which is encouraging.

I know. It is very sad. :(

I hope things remedy quickly, but I don't think it will be nearly fast enough. Also I wouldn't be surprised if some devs just throw in the towel dude to this uncertainty.

For anyone interested there is a reddit post that gives instructions on what you can do to help combat the situation, it's not much but it is better than nothing. The way the group got what they wanted was by hammering them with thousands of complaints.

Ah, man! Don't say that! Too many great games need finishing!
If it's not remediated I guess you can assume that a variety of games may come back with less extreme scenes that hurt people's feelings, but now that blood is in the water there's also the possibility that they just keep widening the net.

It sucks but it's not a good time to be in this industry if you are needing the money for it for life.

It is very sad because the other alternatives from other powers are even worse, for example in Russia there is also censorship and they are puritans, in China it is forbidden to masturbate, in North Korea there are probably no banks, the Arab countries will cut off your goose if you touch it, Japan imprisoned it preventing it from leaving its area, and the rest of the countries are of vis@ and M@ster.
The only alternative I can think of is to live in Japan.
And they full censor any porn and the only porn games are that hentai crap - which is also censored.

Btw, this may even apply to places like f95 at some point.
I predict it'll apply to everything eventually. Total lockdown and control of the internet. Will probably sell your ID info too the way social media companies have already been selling data to advertisers. Then I predict just an outright ban of anything nsfw
