For me, I feel like my decades long procrastination of making my own adult game has finally paid off. These moments are rare though so I'm sipping it like fine wine that I can't buy with a credit card anymore- and it's been delisted at Starbucks because it's full of incest juice.
Really though, I have been working on art in the background and some light programming. Since I never had any intention of charging money for it or going on Patreon this whole thing doesn't impact me too much, though it's of been cool to publish on Steam or itch.io someday. I may never know now, unless I just take all the fun sex out of it. But then it'd be a bottom tier junker.
Gonna be blunt here. I have over 4000 hours in RPGM alone. The monetization of these games is perfectly justified.
I mean all you have to do is go to Youtube to see what these groups can achieve, any content creator that says a swear word gets demonetised and it doesn't stop at sear words.
Also, nobody is forced to buy anything except food or something like that. Games are not essential for life.
How dare people try to make money from their thousands of hours of work. How dare people make a living in a way you deem unacceptable.
Steam and itch io are online stores dude. You know what a store is right?
You should understand that creating games takes time and resources. Without funding game devs would stop making new ones and look for other jobs. Bills won't pay themselves and fridge won't fill by itself.
Or bust out the oval hacker sunglasses, get the aero frutiger fonts and do it 20k style with limewire (after the latest Link in park single has finished downloading, lets hope it is the real deal this time)
