Sigh... I gotta step away from this censorship mess for some time. Getting an extreme case of deja vu that causing me issues so I might put this thread on mute for a bit.
I tried to download game Directoriate in Game Maker. It isnt even game with more than one scene with prostitute (mostly text) but it also disappeared. Because it descipted EU distopian regime and MC was worker of Directoriate of Public Cleanliness responsible for executions of disssidents and removal of corpses. More Directoriate od Human Relationship baned MC from official relationship for low political score. I didnt see any banned content there but game and whole account dissapeared around 40 min from update 02. Damn. I forgot to save screen with adress. So whole case for me is political purge in good old nazi style or commie regime.

BTW with all of this "think of the kids"/age stuff, whatever happened to parental controls? Why is the onus suddenly on the server side, when people used parental controls for years. It's like everyone who is advocating for this government control is pretending that was never really a thing... when everyone used to use the client side method. No, 95% are not shadowbanned. If they were shadowbanned, you wouldn't be able to see them. You can see the thousands of games on those sites that have either passed review or are awaiting review. The game pages are still there - and you can find them using Google search.
Are they deindexed? Yup. But they are not shadowbanned. And if there are games that are "shadowbanned" - it's definitely not 95%, but likely fewer than 5%.
So, yes, keep on topic and keep your knees from hitting yourself in the nose.

- You can see the game pages
- You can use a search engine the game pages
- You can download the games from their game pages
Is it an inconvenience? Yup.
But if itch had been following their own stated rules for the last 10+ years and if developers who knew the rules but also knew that itch wasn't enforcing them so they posted content they knew violated the rules to take advantage of the system as long as they could (or developers didn't read the rules they were expected to follow) --- then we wouldn't be here today, would we? No.
And if Valve had been following the rules they knew they had to follow (and the games they accepted on Steam) and enforced those rules for the years they've had NSFW games on their site --- then we wouldn't be here today, would we? No.

- Itch had rules for 10+ years.
- During those 10+ years they did not enforce them, for whatever reason.
- When Patreon decided to enforce their rules 8 years ago, adult game developers who wanted to use content Patreon didn't allow found that while Itch had similar rules, it wasn't enforcing them.
- They went to places including Itch, Subscribestar, and Steam.
- All three of which have similar rules or use similar/same payment processors who have those rules. Rules for how and who they want to do business with. Rules, whether you agree with what they choose or not, that are legal and they have the right to be able to use. Just like developers have the right to put whatever they want into their games.
- Again, the developers knew that Itch, Subscribestar, and Steam had similar rules and/or similar/same processors - but went there anyway, agreeing with the creator terms of those sites that their content would not violate the rules.
- And they posted content that broke the rules anyway.
- And they got away with it for years.
- Then, yes, someone (or several someones) reminded Itch and Steam of their rules and that they should enforce their rules. Payment Processors agreed - especially when Itch and Steam agreed to follow the rules of their contract with the payment processors and so the processors were enforcing their own rules, as well.
- Now, everything is coming to a head because:
- companies didn't enforce their own rules, for whatever reason
- developers knowingly posted content against the rules, because they knew they weren't being enforced
Look - again, I am not saying I agree or disagree with what payment processors choose to accept or not for business transactions. But they do have the right to do so as long as what they choose to accept or not is a legal decision. And it is - it's within the law. It's legal.
Now, People can whine, cry, complain, bitch all they want on this site --- but that ain't going to do shit to change what people may consider is legal, but at the same time the same people thinking it is wrong to do.
And in this political climate where heads of state are getting shows cancelled and removing funding for public broadcasting and advocating on social media to pull licenses of commercial broadcasting corporations simply because they don't like what they say about their administrations and their dealings --- it's going to be awfully tough to get anything changed regarding porn and adult games with payment processors. Porn and sex are political third-rails.
You want to fight it? Good. Do it. But know it's not going to change overnight. It's going to take many years....

So yes --- know your shit, make sure you cover your ass, and make sure you are on message. Make sure you are honest about the history, where it stands, why it is important (for more than just being able to goon/coom to your favorite content) ... and most of all, make sure you have all the facts and your ducks in a row before you go off half-cocked and blow any chance of advancement for progress because you couldn't keep the blood rushing from your brain to your penis.
A misstep today could delay any advancement for longer than it will take summertime saga to be completed.
