VN - Ren'Py - Almost Dead [v0.12 Ch.18] [BadMustard]

Well, just see it as a training-project. The game could be a simple and wholesome harem-story, in which you don't have to fear any consequences, once some more content is in it. But right now, it's a little lacking on all fronts.
Like, in the very beginning, you wake up in the hospital and almost immediately learn that you were involved in a car crash... that also killed your father. Your first reaction to that? You ask the doctor if that cute little nurse will come back, that accidentally showed you some sideboob. And then goes on to give you a sidenote (one sentence on a black screen) inbetween scenes about the MC crying and all the nurses being understanding...
That is already quite representative of how the rest of the story will be presented. It starts out with an actual plot, but then you basically have a few meaningless conversations as filler inbetween meaningless sexual encounters.

The renders are not great, but also not bad. Little grainy. But the models are cute, the locations look actually lived in, and places are appropriately populated. The Animations though... it would actually be better without them, because they look REALLY clunky, almost half-assed and somehow put me off the game. They also lack any kind of buildup. Like, you talk to a woman lying down, then you are suddenly balls deep inside her and before you know it, she's dressed on the other side of the room.

Some people complained about the movie-references / "attempts" at humor... I actually liked them. Bigger problem is the writing itself. Until I read the dev's statement, I was actually convinced he was asian, with english as his third language or something. If he wants to improve the game, getting a proofreader would go a long way.

Subpar in in every department, horrible renders and animations, very generic uninteresting plot. Looks dated with ugly unsexy character models. Just an unerotic mess of an erotic game, stay away.

The Good
- lots of beautiful girls of different shapes, sizes and races
- lots of lewd content which is quite explicit
The Bad
- the writing sometimes is OK - most of the times just bad, poor attempts of jokes, lame attempts of slang.
The Ugly
- the animations are extremely low res - the transitions from still pic to animation are horrible.

Despite the overused tropes ( the richest guy with the biggest dick) this game has lots of potential to become top porn entertainment if only the dev fixes the animations, streamlines and simplifies the story, get rid of the unnecessary word play. It is obvious - English is not the dev first language - which is fine. What is annoying is when the dev is trying too hard to hide that.

As of version 0.6...

Bland and banal story with a few small inconsistencies. No real plot, just a series of conversations that fill in the gaps between sexy times, which are got to very early. Dialogue is okay, a few clever lines here and there with a few pop-culture references thrown in (Monty Python, Seinfeld, Chasing Amy, Kung Fu Panda, etc.), but does fall into the trap these type of VNs usually do where an expression gets repeated too often (in this case it's "rode hard and put away wet").

Visually, this is mostly passable. Scene transitions are clearly indicated, though the time jumps are sometimes inconsistent with the narrative. Stills are about average quality, and models are varied enough (even with the twins) that you won't feel like the MC is just boning the same girl in cosplay. The biggest problem with the visuals, and it is a very big biggest problem, is the animations. Some of the loops are so mechanical they remind of factory footage from How It's Made, and the pixelation ranges from N64 polygons to mid 2000s JAV. Honestly, I'm not even sure why there's a compressed version of this available.

Don't get me wrong, there are worse VNs to fap to and definitely worse ones to read, but there are also much better ones.

It's really hard to give this game a better score than 3 stars...

I like it but also I feel it could be a million times better by adding more choices on how the story and progression in a whole will play out.

Yes it's a harem based game, that much is obvious!!

The main problem I have is with how the 'main' girlfriend (Tina) that is in love with our mc and vice versa is railroaded into becoming Bi curious and going into a sharing/poly relationship without any option or decision by the player. Next we then have a forced story progression with her friend (just for a sex scene) with no say either. Why not give two different paths for Tina?? Then when someone questions the dev all we get is 'sharing is caring'!! well an option would be nice!! Yeah I get I must be coming off as 'salty' over Tina and it's obviously my own personal preference to her character as she is by far the cutest char in the game and I would have preferred a choice to keep her straight and away from sharing with other people ( I'm selfish)

We have pretty much only one straight LI in the game (Sarah) that won't interact with other women (so far) that isn't a side fuck character.

I mean there is a lot of forced/railroading story progression going on here that us the player have no control over and this is supposed to be an AVN game.

I understand the main aim is to get as many women into a harem as possible but it would be great to have actual meaningful choices along the way over the progression of the game instead of mediocre simple choices like 'where do you want to cum'.

Overall I supposes I wouldn't be here reviewing if I didn't think the game was good but I just feel it could BE better, The renders are beautiful, Animations well they are okay-ish and the story... well you can see what I think, no need for me to keep on whining about it lol.

I don't like giving out ratings like this, especially when the game has a lot of things I like. But this one just cannot keep my attention.

The story, to start with, is a good and wholesome premise. I like to think that if I came into money like this I would use it to help people like our MC does in this game. That is supposed to be the story anyways. But what it ends up feeling like is a dude with a bunch of money bangs literally every woman he comes across then they just kinda cling onto this harem because he is kind, handsome, and ridiculously hung. The story is hardly glued together. There isn't much thought that has gone into the writing as it is just --thing happens--time jump-- another thing happens--(thing usually = sex). Where is the in-between? Where is the story? The growth of your relationship with people outside of sex? It's completely absent. I know its an AVN, but at least give me something more to keep me playing other than sex.

Speaking of sex: its rough. Not like kinky BDSM rough, no its just hard to watch. The renders are unusually grainy and only the hips are animated so the "animations" are static figures with moving hips. There are no facial expressions at all during sex and the orgasm screen shake is a bit over the top.

The character models are nice if you are way into asian woman. This seems to be the polar opposite of most games where there is one or two token asian love interests. Here there is a few token white woman. Don't get me wrong, I love asian woman and all others, but the characters don't have a lot of variation in look or personality. They are all nymphos, and that's it, that's their personality. On top of this, the render quality is so grainy that the images come across as flat. The characters in the scene look like they bleed into the background. None of it is pleasing to look at.

The MC... oh boy. Like I said before, super generous and helpful guy. But he is all over the place. He somehow knows exactly how to run every single business he inherited after his father's death and decides to reward his conquests with CEO positions just because they seem to be smart. Every woman he meets falls head over heels for him and will immediately jump into his bed. At this time I would like to talk anatomy. He is hung. Like have a heart attack because of an erection kind of hung, but I'm used to that by now. What I am not used to is a penis hanging from the front of the pubis like an elephant trunk. It is out in front of his legs instead of between them. I don't know if the dev has seen a penis before, but if this game is anything to go off of, I'd guess they have only generally heard of one rather than actually seen one.

Look, I know this is harsh. An AVN all about sex? That's what the A is for! I know. But the medium has evolved a lot with many games giving us compelling stories with interesting characters. This is not that. It is a fuck-fest with light reading in between. The only choices you make are where to cum and sex? circle yes or no. There is so much I like in this game, but not about this game. It contains elements of great ideas but sees none of them through.

If you are looking for a compelling game to get hooked on for the story and characters, this isn't for you. If you want poorly animated sex scenes, low res renders, and a quick fap; download now.

To be honest when I have first read the comment, I have tinked the game will be not very good.

But I have played it, and I have found some problem, but if I ignore these problems (I will list later because a constructive comment must show up the problem like that the dev can avoid them in future games), I have found the story pretty interesting and I have liked to play it.

The renderer are pretty good (just one or two where the camera have moved so it show like a teleportation).

The major problem is the flow of the game many scene are too short (like the nurse Christmas send) and sometime the inter-scene is so brutal that I'm surprised to see it.

When I play like that I have the impression of playing a game in speed X2.

Dialog was a struggle for me. Nothing really grabbed me to make me want to read the text. Skipped to sex scenes and those were lackluster.

Options on where to come - In my mouth? Everything should be phrased to be In her mouth. Just sounds weird.

Asian characters look way too much alike and there's so many of them! Personal preference shining here, as I am not attracted to asian women.

There are no hooks to get me to continue playing.

Blowjob and sex from the nurse after one interaction? Women throwing themselves at this guy left and right. No build up, no actual gameplay. My game play consisted of holding down the control button and skimming through.

Also, what's with the chick who dyed her pubic hair pink? That's just weird.

I'll be passing on this one in the future.

Tone deaf

MC wakes up in the hospital. Nurse tells him he was comatose for weeks and will need rehab. Also tells him his father died in the same accident. MC is unfazed, and jokes about dinner "what about lasagna", flirts with the nurses who reciprocates. Later -still in the hospital, mind you- he fucks the nurses, and some escort girls provided by the hospital (!)

There is some moderately good animations, but then again you can get better sex scenes in xvideos without the sociopathic characters.

The first few minutes of the game, you kinda feel like this is gonna be one of those dime a dozen fap games that are rampant of F95, but once you get the past that initial stigma like I did, you'd find that this game has lots of potential and could very well be a diamond in the rough.

The story is neither too complex nor too bland. It's easily digestible and won't bore you to death in a matter of minutes. You won't feel the urge to just skip through the dialog even if what you're looking for is just a quick fap.

Overall, this game is quite enjoyable. Dev doesn't overextend himself in terms of storytelling, but doesn't slack off either. The ceiling is quite high for this game, especially if it gains more support/financial backing so the dev can upgrade his hardware or something. This is one of those games that you should try out whether you're just looking for a quick fap, or would like to just take your mind off things on slow days.

I found this one awesome, I love the story behind the game, those are always some of my favorite games when the Dev can mix the Porn and an actual story and make it come out good that is definitely Awesome work. I definitely look forward to the next update and can't wait to see where things go from here.

The game doesn´t have the best graphic, but I do like the plot. I like the asian characters. I would like to see more relationship between the MC and the ladies. At the moment it is more like a fap game. Anyeay this game does have a lot of potential and for that I give it 4 of 5 stars.

It's not the worst game it's just generically generic in every generic way.
Many of the renders look almost cut and paste in terms of being seen before.
The same could be said for the plot.
There just isn't anything in it that hasn't been seen/done/told before.
Is it a 1? Na, it's playable.
Is it even a 3? Nothing in this is average since it would have been average 3 or 4 years ago and there's a lot more/better on the market now.

i am surprisingly Pleased to have found this. (coma recovery story Done Right) i noticed some of the models .. resemble .. real actresses (Hot). the writing is very clever and a little cheesy. i await further adventure in this story.

Horse cock, 1990s renders, cliche story, kiddies writing, i dont see anything good about it and frankly, this will get abandoned by 0.2 most likely. This is one of those games that isnt fun even when skipping through all the dialogues.

The story has a humorous flow, but it's a repeat story. MC is in coma, dad is killed, step mom is a witch, MC meets lots of sexy women. Don't let that distract you from giving this one a play through. I see this one getting better as the story progresses. I look forward to the next update.
